 Please tell me you all are kidding. You honestly liked Manhunter? Don't get me wrong, the book does have some great things, but for the most part the book is just a regurgitation of Palladium ideas. The races don't have enough dissimilarities between them to make a huge distinction. The equipment is pretty lame, and the enemy is effectively the MECHANOIDS!!! I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you all on this one. It wa a fun read, but as a game setting, it sucked compared to the stuff Palladium itself puts out.

I'll agree. To each his own. As I said it was a good read, but in my opinion, there are much better settings out there.

I agree definately not the Mechanoids more along the lines of the Berserkers.

i didn't like manhunter either. It didn't bring anything really new to the table; just boring. A robotic enemy we've seen before. races and classes we've seen before. weapons and armor we've seen before. and a setting and story that failed to even mildly catch my interest. it should have been called 'Rifts: Dimension of Uncreative Sci-Fi Cliches"

You must really hate Shakespeare then since he's almost completely derivative. I thought it was a nice mix and match of genre's and aliens etc. I wish there had been more to the setting, but it's definatly a very fun dimension book to me.

Just because someone doesn't like manhunter doesn't mean they don't like Shakespeare. I thought manhunter was boring, didn't bring anything new or useful and there wasn't even an interesting spin on anything that we haven't seen before. At least shakespeare was creative in his works, derivative or not.

Yes, that's exactly what that means. I thought Manhunter was boring, so I hate Shakespeare. That's a totally realistic and acccurate conclusion. Because they're so much like each other. No, really. :-?

..I don't know anything about Berserkers, but Manhunters came along in the late '80's, and Mechanoids was years earlier. Hell, it predated Terminator.

..Kev nailed it first.

I found manhunter to be so so other than art, much of the art was very good or disturbing. the rest was so-so, I never really got into it like I did for Phase World or New west.

I enjoyed it. The cultural and racial details of races like the Shigat, the Kirn (sexiest D-bees EVAR), the Ular, and the Chiropti were excellent. The tech wasn't all that unbalancing, in fact some items were actually inferior to their Rifts Earth equivalents.

As to the Manhunters, Kevin acknowledged the similarities of these machine races early on. The main difference is that Mechanoids organic components are of human descent while the Manhunters were robots from the very beginning.

My point is just because something doesn't 'bring anything new to the table' doesn't mean anything, it's what it DOES with what it takes. Either way I thought it was fun and if you don't like it I'll buy your copy off of you. ;)

You know, even though it sucked...I probably wouldn't sell it just because it'a a part of Palladium history (a dark part). I mean hell, I spent money on buying rifts England...
