"Riding Bird"
I think it would be cool to have "Riding Birds" in PFRPG. The "Riding Bird" would be transportation, a food source and would even make a cool R.C.C. Think of these as tall, athletic chickens. I've been trying to think up stats for them but I'm a little new to PFRPG and I could use some help. I think I might be skirting the boundaries of closed topic-ness though because I'll admit this idea was inspired by and is akin to tall chicken-like mounts from a very popular(yet unnamed)console RPG series.
any ideas on how to reprisent these?

..The Arbolyte, found on page 74 of Adventures in the Northern Wilderness, but not translated to Wolfen Wars was redone in an adventure (for Rifts) in one of the Rifters. It's the mount you're looking for.

Wasn't there a post about Nimaro Chickens back in 2002 they would have been big enough for riding.

I know what you're all thinking, paladin on an ostrich... (That would be some nasty lance damage, those birds can run pretty fast, it's one of the fastest land animals on earth!) ...But has anyone thought of a gnome on a kiwi?
...does anybody remember Joust from their old Atari libraries?
It depends on how you approach the kiwi in question, and remember they DO speak english...oh, you mean the BIRD...
The bird looks at the Gnome, and says "F%&# you! I'll ride you, but you aint returning the favour!" After all, a kiwi is a small bird. Put the Gnome on an Emu instead.
As for your last question...yes, and if you know what you're doing, you can find them online, and in some arcades.

meh... why does everyone do land-locked birds for this...
ages ago did rules fro flying mounts... i'll see if i can dig it up.. should be on the page somewhere...
actually ran a game where the group used flying mounts, and it played out pretty well, added a new dimention to combat and problem solving...

Because Griffons are not birds. They are Gryphons, Creatures of Magic. And the poster did say bird riding like "... to tall chicken-like mounts from a very popular(yet unnamed)console RPG series. ", so ppl Naturally think the big CCB not the Roc or gryphons or hypogriff. There are those tribsmen that ride those quazi-dinos, ophilid grasslands area, and if you want a *shivers* rifts example/modle the "Blood Riders" from SA2.

Out of curiosity, which Rifter issue?
..I was mistaken. They weren't redone, only mentioned. Rifter # 17, page 69, fourth paragraph in the second column, actually a bullet point under The Killing Zone:
•The bodies of five guards, with their mounts (horses and arbolytes), are scattered around the area....
..Still, I wouldn't make them MDC creatures, just SDC. So The Adventures in The Northern Wilderness is where to find them, page 71....Now that I reread the stats, they are actually lizards, related to the Silonar. Still, they were very Osterich like, also called Tree Swifts.

I thought it was that the orcs _treated_ them like silonar (as in give them a punch in the head for instructions)?
..pg. 71, bottom fifth of the page, first column:
..
Description: Somehow related to the desert dwelling silonar (see Palladium Monsters & Animals p 77), these reptilian mounts (also known as treeswifts) are extremely rare bipedal lizards....

I've actually never seen more than 15 minuites of Heavy Metal and I wasn't really impressed by it. I do however get the magazine from time to time...and yes I actually do read it for the stories!
I've played a little too much final fantasy and I thought it would be cool to have a bird mount for my paladin...

how much weight can those birds carry? I have to bring in my character into the current PFRPG game I'm running, and all this talk has made me want to use a large landlocked bird as my knight's mount. Think I'll name him "Kwee". I just find a heavily armored knight on a riding bird in armor barding to be kinda cool. Like that Crusader leader in FFX
