World Book 27:
Rifts® China 3: Masters of Magic™
Okay, we should know better than to announce any book by Erick Wujcik, especially with him going back to China to head up a new division of videogame company, UbiSoft, but we just can’t resist any longer.

One of the reasons Rifts® China 2 was delayed was because Erick was secretly working on Rifts® China 3, devoting an entire book to Chinese magic and mysticism. About two-thirds of the writing is done and we anticipate a November, 2004 release – but no promises. It will be released shortly after we get the final manuscript from Erick. We’re thinking it should be hitting the stores November sometime.

Rifts® China 3 features all kinds of Oriental magic and mystical player characters. Expect this book to fly off the shelves as fast as Rifts® China 1 & 2.

Several new and different types of magic.
New and different types of sorcerers and practitioners of magic.
Immortals and their quest for power. Available as player characters.
Dragons: creatures of magic and keepers of ancient secrets.
The Yin Tiger and other strange magical beings.
Magic books, tattoos, and enchanted items.
More details on the region and people.
Cover by Scott Johnson, interior art by Drunken Style Studio.
Written by Erick Wujcik.
$17.95 retail, 160 pages, Cat. No. 864.
Tentative November release.

I was hoping that N&SS would eventually get the 2nd Edition treatment, bringing it in line with the rest of the "second edition" Palladium gamelines (Rifts, HU 2e, PFRPG 2e, and probably BTS 2e) while retaining the features that made it special (the wide selection of Hand to Hand combat training and Martial Arts Powers; the "modern day" spyware; the merger of the OCC and Skill Program approaches to character creation). Between the China and Japan worldbooks for Rifts and the Bionics Sourcebook, I suppose that I could cobble a lot of this together; but it's extremely inconvenient to do so.

Well actually, no, I've know about this since China 2 went into production, just was sworn to secrecy

Ditto. They asked me to do the China 3 cover before China 2 was released.

It also explains why stuff like the Immortals etc was missing from China 2.

Great work Scott, I just checked out your website and I see that you are one of the few artists who knows how real armour works. You've obviously done your homework and good research, keep up the good work and hope to see more of your stuff.
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

Nagisawa Takumi wrote:At the risk of getting in trouble on this board...

But you are telling me that I have to buy three books to get what has been promised since the first (No proof of that.) or actually more accurately second book? With no apologies, no 'Oop, turns out that the info was too big for just two China books.'

That's dirty. Quite frankly, I'm hurt. I can understand, and would have happily bought the third book, knowing that the amount of stuff I was getting was quite a bit. But as it was, I (Personally opinion) found the second book lacking, but still worth buying, but missing components that originally were promised on the back of the First China book. I thought that they had been dropped for lack of interest, disappointing but okay.

Now I have to get a THIRD book, that pops out of the blue? Dirty pool. My respect for this company has taken a hit.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone but...

None of the information was promised? What they said is in book 2 is in it. THey just came up with MORE stuff, enough to make a book 3.

IIRC, they DID announce a project for a total of 3 boks right from China one.
what Ped many people O is that they had announced stuff on the tao immortals for book 2, as well as the rundown on the celestial court, and delayed that to book 3... and delayed announcing that it was still really in the works when 2 came out and Wujcik announced he was going back to China.
