I think it would make a great article for the RIFTER. "Exploring Euro", or something like that. Whether or not it would be as interesting to hardcore gamers as a sourcebook is up for grabs, but i would say, as a book unto itself, it would flop. Now if it was thrown into a triax 2 (if it ever happens) then it would be awesome.

Now if the movie turns into a super hit akin to Star Wars or Star Trek and the Rifts Geeks multiplied 100 fold in both number and dorkyness then you may have a market. :)

I mean, if Tolkien, Trek, and Tekumel can have their own languages, why not RIFTS? I've even created some basic vocab and grammar for it.

However, before I make a formal proposal to Palladium Books, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this. I mean, there's no reason to write a full book if you're going to have only four customers...

Keep in mind that Tolkien took years to make his languages (15 seperate ones to be exact).

My advice to you is to research the mechanics of language, especially in reference to pidgins (not pidgeon). Other then that: Best of luck to 'ya. :ok:

umm if he/she's really a linguist then I'm sure they already know the mechanics of language, probably better than any of us (unless someone else here is a linguist)
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

Re: Why the hell did they invent Euro in the first place?

Tokkabei Necromancer wrote:If you do decide to develop a real life Euro, or even a Rifts history of Euro, make sure you leave room for a lot of sociolinguistic differences among the different classes of people who would speak it, and even more room for adaptation. Euro is probably a creole of some sort that adapted from some sort of trade pidgin. We all know they made Klingon a real language, but the vast majority of people who can speak it fluently are die-hard hard fans of star trek. It has way too small of a following to really even grow. Esperanto works, but who the hell wanted to speak it?

Euro is an amalagation of several European languages.

Syntax of the various combined languages could be problematic... my wife and I are both very multi-lingual, and we tried to make "Euro" for our games as a joke... it was harder than most would think.
