Magic artifacts retrieval to save or to completely heal. I think that's one of the greatest motivations ever. And one of the most interesting games I have played had the Caduceus staff. Which was under the temple of Thoth, at Hermopalis. We made it to there, but to get into the chamber, was a series of questions we had to answer. Q. What was the part of the body thought comes from? Brain, heart, stomach, or Ankh (which was believed to be a representation of the sex organs.) A. The heart, in Egyptian times it was thought to be the heart. Q. What God/Goddess knows the true name of Ra. Horus, Hathor, Thoth, Sekhmet, Ptah, or Isis? A. Isis. Now this next one we screwed up on and I lost Michelle's character. Where was Thoth born? She said Egypt. I finally said Atlantis. And finally Q. Speak my true name and enter. Also where we screwed up. And Micheal's PC bought it. Tehuti. A. Djehuti. Then I entered the chamber. And was in aw with Thoth's statue. And then it began to move and speak. "You mortal have made it thus far with the lost of your two compainions." To which I replied "They learned nothing by dying." "Too true, and what you seek is here. But you can only use it 5 times, then it must be brought back." I asked "Meaning no disrespect, but why?" Thoth answered "You truly are a seeker of knowledge. The black snake will animate upon 6th and kill whom ever or what ever it wants. You have but to call out my true name for the staff to work." 5 people...My character's mother, his lover, and his son were the other 3 I helped. I didn't heal myself...I returned it to the temple, Thoth took pitty on me and healed my pc, who was in need of it.

There was mummies immortalises involved, and several other things like Sand Serpents, a sphinx, etc. So it was not easy. Infact we battled an Evisceral to get the infomation about the staff of Thoth.

Depends on the players and their characters.
I ran the Gargoyle adventure in the 1st edition BtS book for two different groups: one was composed of bad-a$$ characters w/ psychic powers, who were ready for anything, and the other was a Parapsychologist and 3 Sensitives, who were just learning. The second group was much more fun, and more true to the spirit of the game. The first group was just more into monster-bashing for points.
I have nothing against super-heroes Vs. the supernatural, but a change of pace is good now and again.
when you get right down to it, Sentinel's right.~Uncle Servo.

Sentinel. you'll be always loved by the German Princess.~Nelly

That's twice in one day Sentinel has cleaned up my mess.~The Galactus Kid.

That's the best place to start. Otherwise, listen to Sentinel~lather

Listen to the Sentinel...he speaks truth.~ Shadyslug

Sentinel you have the biggest sig I've ever seen~Natasha

Agreed...COMPLETELY!!! It does depends on the group. It depends on what mood I'm in at the time. I tend to be play anarcist characters who tend wear their hearts on their sleeves, so to speak. Except when ticked off. It's then that they brake a few of the rules.

4 Letters.

S.C.I.G.

The Supernatural Crimes Investigation Group, a disliked section of the Chicago Police Department (Chicago because, well, we could do New Orleans, but what monster in their right mind would be where everyone expected them to be? New York was an option too, but it's been done to death) Think Law and Order SVU, with Boogy Men and Boschala instead of Rapists and Child Molesters.

Fun bit: The normal CPD Uni's call SCIG the Spooky Crap In General squad.
