I would rule it effectively rooted in the skull. You had a better chance of tearing the entire head off the neck than you did to remove that mask.

Agreed with Zerebus. Otherwise, simple Surgery -and a Character willing to wear a Mask with Skin still in it -would be suffcient to make use of the Mask.......

Any person couldn't use the powers of the Mask. It only works for the Apok themselves, and then, only the original owner can use their own Mask, not anyone elses.

When on, the Apok's mask is supernaturally made an integral part of the Apok... better peel off the skin from his face right away than try to take the darn mask away on its own... remember, the very nature of Magic is that it inexplically trumps all natural laws.

Sorry to diss Corny... but the mask is supernaturally attuned to its owner/maker/titular wearer... nobody else has any benefit from owning such an item except as a trophy or display conversation piece.

I was playing a PC with supernatural strength, in a physical HtH fight with an Apok that had an attitude. I got him in a head-lock, reached over, and ripped the mask right off of his face (taking most of his face with it).

He failed his system shock roll, fell into a coma, and subsequently I made short work him.

I know the books say that the mask cannot be "forcibly removed," but anything can be removed with enough force. If an arm, or leg, or ear, or nose, or hair can be pulled from the body, why can't the mask be pulled off with supernatural strength?

This was all done incorrectly.
Only the Apok can remove the mask. It states as much clearly in the book. So, even if the Apok is dead, since he can't remove the mask... neither can a would-be trophy hunter, unless they take the whole head.

Well the Mask is a symbiotic organism. Once the Apok dies, it dies. Which means if you wanted to benefit from its powers - no chance. Also means it will quickly degrade after the apok's death, loosing the indestructable property.

And only the Apok can remove it, at least while the Apok is alive. I'd assume that when the symbiote dies it can be removed with a bit of foucre - of course it might just break.

I go with "no" on this one. The mask is a unique form of Magic Item, that cannot be removed through brute force.
I might make an exception for a dragon(adult) or a god (not a godling or demi-god though), but only because they are extremely powerful supernatural beings themselves.

honestly... I think that only a full god would have the power to do that... and that by voiding the innate properties of the mask... which would mean its effective destruction... and probably the Apok's too (or at least his having to change OCCs once he recovers from the shock)

Magic is NOT all powerful.

If that were the case, Tolkeen would have wiped the globe with the CS.

Saves vs. magic are not based on physical brute force.

I cast Carpet of Adhesion on the floor and put a chair in the area covered. A PC comes over and tries to move the chair with no affect and gives up. A PC with enhanced strength tries to move the chair and pulls so hard that the weaker of the two, either the chair or the floor, breaks.

Yeah, exactly.

Tugging the mask off the Apok won't work. Pulling the head off the Apok by the mask will.

Of course there is the Apok's own SN strength and MDC to think about.
