Setting Question

Unread post by Yendor »

Ok, I'm going to run a campaign for 2 separate Robotech groups, and have a question.

I'm going to change the third robotech war around, to keep the players guessing. The Invid Invasion never happens, however, the REF takes off to Tirol to talk with the Robotech Master, but the RMs have already taken off to Earth. Southern Cross and the Second Robotech War happens, but (haven't worked out why yet) the Invid never notice Earth.

This means the REF have to deal with the Invid, Zentraedi and Robotech Masters, while the Earth faces repeated threats by the Robotech Masters and Zentraedi that are there (and those that come to Earth; similar to Macross II's setting), as well as the EBSIS and various local factions.

One of the problems I'm facing is what 'super powers' would exist in this era. I know the EBSIS would be one, and what remains of the Southern Cross as well, and what few RDF personnel (and REF) are on Earth.

SC book, page 71: "..Except for a few minor skirmishes, the soviets will elect to stay out of the second robotech war. It is a move that will drain the southern cross, splinter the last vestiges of the UEG, and make the EBSIS the world power at the war's end.

SC book, page 107: "Monument City... is a shambles, it's forces severely depleted. The balance ofpower has tipped again. The young UEG is collapsing, civil unrest has escalated as many feudal states seize this opportunity to vanquish their weakened neighbours, and the Armies of the Southern Cross are scattered and disheveled"........"The new world powers are the EBSIS and the...Merchant Republic."

There. I think that should cover it.
I'd get up in the morning and watch the sun rise over the yardarm of my sky-ship as the sails billowed in the breeze and the land slid by 300-odd metres below. I'd grasp the mahogany ship's wheel, turn her nose a few points back onto the line, and feel pity for all those poor bastards below who have to work for a living. - My idea of the good life in Rifts.

Steampunk SAMAS finally built!

keeping the invid away from earth could be as simple as not having the protculture matrix erupt it's seeds over earth.

and anything else that stops the sensor nebula thingy from sensing the release of the flower of life.

The EBSIS is the only World Superpower... the Lacking of an Invid invasion Means some intresting things.

the World Government Falls apart in July of 2032... 4 months after the Defeat of the Masters and destruction of Monument city.
the Ebsis is the Wolrd power as of November 32
The Armies of the Southren Cross Formerly Disband in Feb. 2033.

in the RPG timeline the Invid Invade in Dec 2035.

If the Ebsis can muster the Man power, they can take over North america, Giving them Acess to the Full Range fo Robotechnology.

the Event that halts the comming of the Invid would be Zor's Sucess in Destroying the Mutating Flowers of Life in the SDF-1's Greenhouse... as well as the Matrix.

I wrote a Simmiler Setting... The Master Never Show up on earth... and the REf Return to Earth unable to find Tirol... then the Combined Fprces fo the Regent & Regis invade Earth...

ah.... well...

I assume you run games WITH the nose lasers...???I mean even the official ROBOTECH site says they got them....

if the Older VF-s on the SDF-1 added them, and the Later ASC Veritechs have them... I assume some of the Alpha Models do use them.
perhaps the Eariler models. Thou 2 of Scotts Kills in the Show are Credited to the Nose Lasers, but when his Alpha was built is sorta unknown.

the Missing Motherships end up in Rifts, and become the Gene-Splicers homewolrds.

Oh you mean the 11+ Masters cityships that are actually shown on screen? Sorry, those don't exist according to the RPG nazi's. Nor do the 5+ destroyers per city ship exist either. Yep, the Masters showed up with all of one city-ship.

They were actually just town-ships, and after some tense re-zoning laws in the interstellar highway sytem they all just sorta collapsed into ghost town-ships with a ratty dust ball of a self-serve protoculture matrix and a group of country-western Musica's being all that remained of them by the time the Regis arrived :D

The Masters Showed up.... with only one mothership, a few ten-Thousand bioroids and several hundred Corvettes and brought the UEF to their Knees... in the Same RPG where the Invid have one planet with no protoculture or plant life on it... and the Master have 100 Systems loyal to them.. and over 200 Billion Zent Warriors, a Fleet of 10 Million ships, most mount Heavy PBCs (and dozens of Factory satalites & Mother Ships...)... the Invid are able to Soundly Defeat the masters....
