This means that I need some help from you guys. What would you guys consider a good combination for an inexperienced adventuring group to consist of? Here's my idea (or rather, what I can think of right now):

Mage
Psychic
Tank
Support

Depends on how inexperienced.
You might well want to go with:
Tank
Tank
Tank
Tank

Just so they don't get killed, and so that they don't have to worry too much about their abilities.
It can take newbie mages and psychics a long time to decide what power they're going to use.

The best group that i have come across had one gun bunny, one technowizard, one scholar or vagabond, one mage class and one psychic or rcc with some natural abilities.

Ley line walker.

Dog Boy.

Borg.

Rogue scholar.

Give the Scholar Power armor if possible and give him some repair and first aid skills so he can act as support.

KISS....Keep It Simple Stupid.

I agree with Killer. The greater the number of abilities and powers the characters have, the longer it will take them to decide what to do. The main types of characters in any game system are:

Thief: those with aptitudes for theft, sneaking around, gaining intel, etc. (Wilderness scout, thief, assasion, Military Specialist, crazy, juicer, etc.)
Fighter: the "Kill em all" type. (Juicer, borg, crazy, cyber knight, RPA pilot, etc.)
Mage: uses their mind before brawn. (Mage, psycic, cleric, scientist and scholars, operator, etc)

I'd pick one of the first two to start off with.

If you have Lone star, you can give the group I suggested more flexibility and firepower by making the Dog boy a free born and giving him a man-at-arms OCC, maybe even something from the Merc book if you have it, so you could get the Psi abilities of a Dog boy along with the firepower and skills of a headhunter or a special forces trooper.

The same thing could be done with the Scholar.

But not the line walker, although you could do a wolfen line walker if you wanted an all puppy group...

Edit: Ah, I see you've already got the hybrid idea.

Have I mentioned I love Anti-Monsters. The start with about 400 M.D.C (which regenerates) and standard equipment can be heavy borg armor (another 400 M.D.C.). 800 M.D.C. to start!

Oh, in that case go with this.

  • Glitter Boy
  • Mind Melter, human (starting at level 4 with max ISP)
  • Line Walker (Starting with a few high level spells and PPE boosting magic itmes and high-end TW weapons)
  • Quick Flex/Gun Fighter (with max PP, equipped with plenty of gear, combat & non-combat alike, and with a generous and varied skill list)

High-Powered, Eh?

Well, let's go with:

Glitter Boy
Demi-God Cyber-Knight and/or Demi-God Mindmelter
Techno-Wizard with Plenty of PPE & TW Items and/or Operator with a good vehicle & power armor
Full Conversion Borg with heavy borg armor and/or Robot with same

That's not even top end, but it's a tuff group.
