No, not really. If you want to save your money, go right ahead. But the new AtB has new animal powers, vestigial traights, chimeras, and more setting info.

Really up to you if you want to spend the money on it or not.

It's a decent read. As CyCo said, not a whole lot new, but enough to at least thumb through in the FLGS and see for yourself.

I got mine in a grab bag, so I kinda paid for it...but I was happy to have gotten it nonetheless.

As CyCo said, It has more setting info and expanded rules for mutant animal creation, but you can continue to play just fine with the books you have.

When I owned it, I thought that the standalone game was a pretty solid piece of work. Erick's approach of being heavy on the mechanics and light on the setting details was especially nice, at least for me. That meant I could make a game to my specs. In fact, I had contemplated ditching the ATB stock setting and coming up with my own. Sadly, the book had to be sold to help pay some bills last year.

Nothing says you have to keep up with the Jones's. I bought it just because AtB is an all time favorite of mine, but it isn't a necessity. Though, you may not be privy to the nature of some posts as it pertains to info posted on AtB2.

I never owned AtB 1st ed, so I got 2nd ed based on the cover (which I thought was so cool).
It has really enhanced my HUII game, and added to my other games as well.

I'm really surprised that more furries aren't into the game.

Maybe they are, but don't post to this board. (shrug.)
