The Mechanoid Trilogy

Is it true that a limited edition hardback was made when this first came out? For clarification, I am refering to the collected works that were published in or around 1999.

Negative. The "limited edition" refers to the softback. Around 3000-4000 were made. It was created specifically for the xmas grab bag. Since they had more than needed for grab bags, the rest went on sale via the normal methods.

You should pick it up if you find it. It's an excellent companion piece to the Rifts Mechanoids sourcebook, and it's also a nice look at a piece of Palladium history.

Anytime.

...and woot! I just picked up the three original mechanoid books on EBay as a set. I've scored majorly on the net in the last week, finding vintage PB stuff. Now I just need a confirmation from the guy with Nargash Tor and the Collected Mechanoids (the intermediate one), and I need to find sellers of Valley of the Pharaohs and RiftsworkZ and I'll have my obscure stuff collection oh-so-much better rounded!

I read it cover to cover yesterday night.
Its so free flowing it helped just make me think
bout how my storys go, inspiring.
I Believe I got mine in the first xmas grab bag,
and a peice of art by Kevin&signed.
I requested bts1st ed and it was long out of print.
I got some old comics that mean alot too.
Very good trade.

Not just old school Palladium the FIRST palladium :-P It predates even PF. I've got the original three Mechanoids books on my shelf, complete with the "Ooopps Errata Sheet" that came with the first one, inserted by hand, still in it. I intend to get them all signed an Gencon this year, since I'm finally going :-P

Okay. Now I want to play through these. Kevin is one of the best adventure writers in the History of RPGs (maybe THE best). His rules can be lacking, but his presentation and delivery are second to none. If he wrote more stuff like this I would only play Palladium.

I got my Trilogy as a bonus part of a Palladium library I recently purchased. Amazing to think that KS started Palladium Books with only $3000. I haven't read completely through it, but it seems interesting at least (the mothership  made me want to cry though). Maybe I'll run a purist adventure from this as something to do between regular games (and see how the old clunker runs).
