Hehe, just look at 2001: Space Odyssey. The moment of evolution, ape to man, is the use of a weapon. Yeah, movies aren't exactly a source to use, but it's just another commentary :-)

That's not only siggable, but you should also take credit for it as a Quotation and publish it somewhere.

If humans should be exterminated, then all life should be.
Because there is not a single species of anything that would not behave in the same way if they had the same sort of power.

Seriously though, humans are doing pretty bad as a species, and I am sure most creatures would do better if they were in our place.

So yes lets start working on summoning rifts so some big bad old one can come and kill everyone...

... or, we can decide to give our cats the power to rule the planet.
Afraid that I'll have to disagree.

Look at some of the BETTER Animal Shows on Chimps.

I had NO idea that they were so...well...Human.

And as for forces from other Worlds/Dimensions, if they ever show up here, let us pray fervently that they are NOT "Human..."

'Cause if they are, then we're toast... or worse. And all of Jeff Goldblum's Apple Computing Power ain't gonna save us, neither.....

I don't really think many people are really serious about humans being destroyed. I think some people see anti-CS statements as being anti-human as those people clearly think that the CS is humanities only survival and that to reject them is obviously anti-human.

To me humanities only chance of survival is to adapt to the new environment and to work with it's new inhabitants. The only way for any species to survive is to be flexible and adapt.
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

I was speaking of the fact we spread out as we need resources..not that we we're evil or negative.

Humanity as whole survives alot of stuff inreality.

Game wise they are in many dimesions, often unwelcomed but there none the less.

Unfortunatly, Humans are not the only creatures that can "Pick up a weapon and use it". By this definition, there is a bird that uses stones to crack open the shells of turtles (Or was it snails?) would be concidered human.

Humans are humans because of our ability to question what the "self" is. This is why humans are so prone to attack other humans, and can seem to have little regard for nature. THe self is a very important aspect of humanity. It's why we have religions, why we may seem not to care about the land, why people are so afraid of change and other things.

Well I am pro-human life,I did things in my games that give humans a numbers edge like ther humans living on 6 of the 7 continents.

I have no problems Rifting humans in from Alternate earths.Rifts earth humans can still Breed with non-rifts earth humans.

I also do things like a Alien Intelligence that feeds on the Life force of Xiticix have appear in Manitoba one day feeded/killed 70000 Xiticix in a week and rifted back to it,s world, where it keep humans as slaves.
Xiticix,s life force tastes 10 times better then, so I think it may visit down the line.

gremlin79 wrote:Sea Otters use rocks to crack open shells. The woodpecker thrush digs grubs out of trees with cactus spines. And by the way sea gulls and lammergiers don't pick up the rock, they pick up the turtle and drop it on the rock. What none of these organisms do, however, is use these implements as a means of self-defense, the second part of weapon use. It is this ability to ward off our former predators that allowed us the life-span to develop the sense of self.

Debateable. Was it the development of the sense of self that caused us to develop weapons for our lack of any real type of natural defense or was it the use of weapons that allowed us to develop the sense of self.

It's one of those "What came first", and it's pretty open to any view. Hell, it could have been simply the development of the thumb which caused our brains to grow, thereby really creating a sense of self and thusly the need to defend it. Or it could be the time we became fully bi-pedal creatures to roam the plains. Maybe it was when God did something, or budda or even when the great space baby opened his mouth to spit out the want to know self...

In essense, the point of the post was that there is no single one thing in history that one can say "this separates man from animals".

Well either way, the world is governed by the aggressive use of force. No matter where one may come from all lifeforms compete with each other. Those that do not become extinct.

Well in rifts if the cs was the only human city I would have to say yea wipe out the human race because we fell so far into the trash bin were not even worth getting dug back out. But there are others out there who do still have the right stuff, who do still show that they humans are still worth it on rifts. so I say "we will not go queitly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We're going to live on. We're going to survive!"
