Questions for Kev S.

If you could ask KS just one question,(and get a answer) what would it be?

In all my time asking Kevin questions, I think I only asked ONE game question and that was in order to laugh at my GM to his face.

Here's how it would go.

Me - So you're Kevin Siembieda eh?
Kevin - Yep.
Security - OK that's your question. Move on.
Me - Damnit!

He does. This has been addressed by both Alex M. and Kevin multiple times. They are just looking for someone who can do it and do it well.

Never seen it posted anywhere. When I went to that nokia chat I asked that question, twice and got ignored in favor of idiots with no love for the Rifts game.

I know that I've seen it at least once in the video game threads. Dig those up. Your question would not have been asked in the nokia chat because it was hosted by nokia and they wouldn't support their competitors.

Hmm, Norway? I'll guess that, cause somebody asked about it the other day, might have been you :-P

As for the original thread topic -

I would ask him what actually happened to the Palladium of Desires.

As a note to people coming up with questions - I'll try to make a post and get a list of question to ask him (serious ones only, and a limited number) before I head to Gen Con. Obviously I can't gaurantee he'll be answering, or that the answers are will be complete, but I can try.

Hi Kev, Why haven't you released Rifts Australia II an III even though they've already been written and edited and are waiting for printing?
I'd get up in the morning and watch the sun rise over the yardarm of my sky-ship as the sails billowed in the breeze and the land slid by 300-odd metres below. Just because you asked that question, well make sure the Rifts game never appears on another platform.

No, we're talking to a few companies about putting it on other platforms, but since we're only in the "talk" stage, and no contracts have been signed, I can't even mention who they are. The whole negotiation thing is unpredictable as to how long it might take, but we'll let everybody know the moment something happens.

I sooo hate nokia and it's thrice be damned N-gage.

Good to hear that KS is at least looking in to other platforms. Hopefully we will see something for either the PC market or Sony.

Not that I'm aware of. BCL used to post on these boards and he had no real problem with it being released. All the books were originally one manuscript that was divided into three sections, set out, edited, and prepared for printing. This happened simultaneously and the idea was that Aust 1 would be released, then 2 and 3 in short order afterwards (like the way they did with China). BCL only gave a bit of surprise when he saw that there were giant-fragging-kangaroos in it (courtesy of Kev, enough to make any Australian cringe and gag at the stereotype) and the Mokoloi were waaaay upped in power. Purportedly this was done so Kev could slap his name on the thing and say 'It's By Kevin Siembiada and some other guy', but BCL was happy to see Aust 2 and 3 come out similarly altered, so no problem there either. There's absolutely no reason, other than the whim of KS, that they've not been printed.

He doesn't. What he does deny is public conversion of copywritten material from other companies. That's not only unoriginal, it's just lame.

Only as long as it's for personal use and never distributed publicly in any form.

And that's not denying a privilege, that's exercising one's authority as the copyright holder.

It's a legal issue. Palladium Books, the company, can not endorse such actions since they don't have rights to other systems, and vice versa. But remember KS's first rule of gaming: Have Fun. What you do in your own basement is up to you.

Ok, now it's one sentence, but it's still three questions. ;)

My question to Kev would be: "Just what is that you have against the big guns of heavy vehicles that makes them so nerfed and out of porportion from what they ought to be?"

Will the magic system ever be changed so that it will be able to compete with technology on equal terms?

Uh, that's going a bit far. The realities of the RPG gaming industry mean that no one ever has total control over the production process.

I would be willing to bet that KS is often more happy he gets good artwork before a deadline, than getting something that fits 100% with requirements.

Also, kicking around creative talent usually causes poor results, including people walking away.
