New Skill (Underwater Small Arms)

Unread post by Mantisking »

I've been working on updating my Skill List for N&S. Here's one I came up with just recently.

W.P. Underwater Small Arms: Several companies worldwide have developed firearms to specifically work underwater. The character is familiar with these weapons and can reload, disassemble, unjam, clean and otherwise maintain these weapons. Bonuses: +1 to Strike at level one. +1 to Strike at levels 4, 7, 10, and 13.

Actually, I'd rather see a weapon proficiency for weapons designed solely for underwater use, like spearguns, pole spears, ink grenades, bangsticks, suction guns, and high pressure lances.

Rules for using firearms underwater would be a nice add-on for underwater combat rules, but I couldn't see a W.P. being devoted to them.

What. Oh...

Seriously, I just halve all combat bonuses unless proficient (which I allow to be taken as a Skill) in which case all bonuses are droped 25%.

What does that have to do with the post? Nice skill by the way.

I'm curious how they deal with water displacement when shooting underwater. Is it a type of speargun or what?

ummmmm, there are no REAL companies that can do that.

he's talking purely in game context.......

I'm talking about for rules in the game about shooting guns (ie: were not ment for under water)underwater like damge being reduced and range etc..would be in the combat rules section of a book.

Unfortunately Recon is Palladium's only game that actually has rules in the combat section for underwater combat.

It's an interesting reference and okay for making quick games. Get the new combined version though.

Hmmnn, I'll have to work on that.

Considering Modern Weapon Proficiencies also contain the ability to maintain the weapon and underwater firearms should be slightly different from normal firearms, I think it fits.
