Two martial artists of equl skill face each other one armed with
a whip the other with a sword who would win and why?
Svartalf- if Cherico were a character created in a point game system, he'd have all his scores in geeky skills and his youtube and weird net stuff schticks all paid through a a Terminal Bad Luck (with more nasty GM intervention) disadvantage, and probably an Uncouth (can not have social skills) disad as well...
In an RPG with deadly situations that character would have had to be replaced a dozen times over[

what kind of sword?
what kind of whip?

They maybe of the same skill training, but what about physical limitations? Is one stronger then the other? Faster?

They are of equal strength and skill as for weapons
Kitana vrs bull whip
both weapons are of extream quality.
Combat will take place on a flat plain with no interferance of
any kind.

If the Sword guy is a badass, like Ogami Itto.

Then he totally wins...if it's like, the campy 60's Batmans Catwoman, she purrs, and Sword guy lowers his guard, and she chokes him to death with the whip.

Better yet.

He with the best bonuses wins, or as Jefffar pointed out, whichever one had a holdout piece on them.

Bonuses don't really matter if one guy keeps rolling ones and the other rolls twenties. ;)

Yes, but to get the geek points you need to turn it around with another reference to the above movie/character.

Whip: Non-lethal by nature.

Sword: Lethal by nature.

Whip Guy reaches for pistol, realizes the holster is empty.
Raiders of the Lost Ark eventually gives way to the Temple of Doom.

I go with Sword guy, but I admit, it could go either way.
