How does Free Quebec detect supernatual beings?

Unread post by Jazin18 »

They are anti-magic, human supremacists who don't' use psychics, psi-stalkers, or Dog Boys. I would think it would be very easy for supernatural beings, especially those who can turn invisible, to infiltrate the country and wreak Havoc. At least the CS uses the above. Any ideas?

Yup, sounds about right.

Kicking out the Dog Boys was their dumbest move ever.

Yes indeed, not just supernatural creatures, but CS Psychic Spies, or anyone else who looks human and get past the border guard.

I agree Quebec should have far more problems & infiltration then
Chi-Town.

When I found out that they kicked out the dog boys etc I laughed and laughed. They must be riddled with subversives.

Well, I won't say they are riddled with subversives. They just have to use the old fashoined methods for finding them rather than just looking at someone or giving their crotch a sniff.

Maybe they use non-mutant dogs who're trained to sniff out the supernatural. After all, that's why the CS used dogs in the genetic engineering of their non-human troops in the first place, isn't it?

There are still FQ citizens who are psychic, and whilst their sensing skills aren't as good as a dogboy or psi-stalker, there are still lots of psychic sensitive powers that can pinpoint monsters and sorcerers.
The word "THAN" is important. Something is "better than" something else, not "better then", it's "rather than" not "rather then".

I like the dog handler idea :)

Simple, cheap and very effective.
The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep's for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty.

I like the ideas presented (dogs, civilians). However, it just seems very inefficient to rely on civvies to detect mages, demons, or psychics. One of the things that make the CS so effective is the fact they have entire departments set up to detect and stop supernatural and magical threats. FQ is so well organized with their military I find it hard to believe they would leave themselves so vulnerable. The issue of the supernatural was never addressed in the World Book for FQ. I just finished it and the first thing that came mind was "WOW, they'd get their butts kicked against the FOM or Tolkien if it was still around." Glitterboys and SAMAS are great against tech, but against magical and supernatural threats, they would be vulnerable. I'd be interested in hearing scenarios in which FQ could repel a demon horde or the FOM.

Spirit West made it seem that Free Quebec relies upon Human Magic communites around it for protection against the supernatural.. they apparently Do know the spirit warrior legions and so on that exist near them.

I guess they sanction Witch Hunters and so on that Operate in their territory

Uh...tacheon detection grid? :?

Seriously, dogs, cats, and horses can all detect the supernatural... up to 600'... so army units (and police, and even homeowners) would make heavy use of K-9s.

Like in Termanator.

citizen ID chips would help isolate strangers, too.

they use normal dogs, DNA scanners/tests, infared sensors, motion detection sensors, pressure sensitive floors, a few psychics here and there, Trained indivuals to spot strange behavior, ID Chips for secure areas...

Magic Invisiblity is still detectable by other means...its not hard for a advanced tech state like FQ to detect supernaturals and pyschics...

WHo knows what special tech they have come up with not written about yet either...

If they make heavy use of Finger print scanners and eye scanners that alone will cut down on most supernaturals getting around. That and the use of normal dogs...

I am sure some BS Tech will be developed to handle our question here. :D

Seriouslly though Quebec pays their psychics a small amount of cash and kicks them out. They dont even like their citizens having psionics.
Dogs at check points is good, but the bad thing is unlike the Dog boys, Spot can't turn around and say "Hey I smell Vampires."

I am sure all the Coalition States and Quebec have to deal with occasional internal attacks, after all even with Dog Boys and Psi Stalkers there are still methods and means to get by. Likewise I see the CS and Quebec being smart enough to have infiltrated other enemy states.

Tolkeen should have had explosives going off within it during the whole war, from implanted spies, secret Psi Agents etc.

It go's either way, as far as can places be infiltrated, I see Quebec as being moe vulnerable then the CS, infact heck I could easily see Prosek having a few Mind Melters from Psi Battalion make Quebec see things his way, but that would be intelligent and striking at a vulnerability, so it will never happen.

Actually, FQ has specialist teams to root out the supernatural. They're equipped with PKE meters and proton energy packs for capture or disruption of unwanted supernatural influences. :D

You act like a supernatural creature
a) can't walk through the doors anyway
b) isn't fast enough to get through the just unlocked door.

RCMP don't play in Quebec...well, not well. The same is true in Ontario. In the first place it is the QPP, and the OPP in the second. However, they do co-operate with other police agencies...as well as ony police agency co-operates with another... ;)

Seriously though... The RCMP presence in Quebec is not as strong as some might think. However, if someone in La Belle Province wishes to correct me... :D

Incidentally, the Gendarmerie of the Sûreté du Québec likely uses dogs - German Shepards most likely. If you're not sure how effective they can be, do some research on police, customs, and military dogs. Hell, they have dogs trained to detect cancers and other diseases that are presenting no or atypical symptomologies!

I wonder how big a twinkie the apocolypse was?

At hand, the CS has no really special means to detect the supernatural beyond

1) A good knowledge of what they are dealing with
2) A paranoid and prepared internal security force
3) Adaptations of standard technologies

However, I think that point 1 and point 2 would make it pretty difficult on any inflitration, supernatural or not.

Agreed, while the OPP and SQ do take over a fair number of the RCMP's duties in their respective provincies, the RCMP are still there and they have a role to play.

Hell I got searched by a couple of RCMP plain clothes in Ontario.

Wait... Canada has royalty???? We, and the rest of the commonwealth, are still technically ruled by the King and Queen of England

Wait...Theres more than 1 person in Canada??? You're only off by more than 30 million

And I thought it was all polar bears.... Nope, we have brown and black bears too, but no pandas.

Yaks...natively...no. But we do have some in Zoos and the odd ranch! :D

We won't have a king until Queen Elizabeth surrenders the throne, which she doesn't seem likely to do anytime soon! :D (Even then, she's a figurehead...)

30 Mil...as of '98 I believe! You can likely add about another 5 mil by now. :ok:

Don't forget the grizzlies and ghost bears!
