Nightlords and thier Avatars.
Ok, has any Nightbane GM ever taken thier characters up against a Nightlord... and the follow up to this is... did they defeat it...
If your answer is yes... I demand to know how.
Even if they are all Nightbane, ok all nightbane would trounce a Nightlord Avatar pretty easily.
But up against a true nightlord, those nightbane should have been annhilated within one combat round.

I have a 'bane that killed an avatar in three hits, but I don't know about a nightlord. I don't think the GM played the situation right though. One of the other PCs called him out (before we knew what we were fighting), and none of our attacks were landing. Finally after a few landed we realized we were dealing with a supernatural creature so I had my PC change forms. Maybe this weekend I'll get someone to be a nightlord, and someone else to GM us fighting each other, and we'll see who wins.

If I was a GM the characters would never fight a Nightlord.
They would fight a Nightlord, and entourage of at least a hundred hounds and hunters, a half a dozen ashemdi and a couple of Night Princes.
That's assuming they caught the Nightlord off guard.

I'm with Jefffar on the "it should not be" sentiment.
My thoughts on actually killing one: maybe a surprise attack by Guardians, using all their PPE for one hopeless light blast. (Because, like a lot of the powerful beings in Palladium games, if you don't kill it in the first hit, you're out of luck).

I gave a nightlord aVatar to a groupf of munchkins to play with.
the NL avatar was able to kill just about anyone they ran up against. (especially super heroes. )
Killing an Avatar is kinda easy when every attack you launch at it does x 3 damage. Just not going to happen on your average Nightlord though.
and I Agree , I think many a NB campaign has involved trying to recruit Lord Foulseed.. I think he's probably the most Sought after Nightlord Since so many people know he's gone rogue.

didn't take a group of nightbane up against a nightlord...but I did whip a nightlord out on a group I had!
Groups size: 10
Groups power level: High
Group was a mix of HU and "megaversal" types, including a mid level Godling or two.
They ran like scared children after about 6 melee rounds. I mean RAN! Left three dead, and two wounded behind. After they got their spines back and calmed down. They went back in after their wounded and did manage to spring them and in so doing took out a night prince but they all got smacked up pretty badly.
After that, all my players are terrified of the nightlords.
Half of them should have been dead in the first combat round... with thier matter and energy manipulation... armor gone... weapons gone... they would either be uberly defenseless and weaponless... or just outrightly dead drom high damage. Now 10 heroes I can see taking more than 1 combat round to kill off. but they should of all at least been armorless by the end of the first round.
Realistically... a nightlord if he Focuses his attacks... should be able to kill 1 character (speaking in the nightbane setting, not other settings) per round. Even the nightbane.

Don't Nightlord take 10x's damage from Nightbane?
Damn ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol! Damn everyone who won’t damn ICE/BCP/Border Patrol!! Damn everyone that won’t put lights in his windows and sit up all night damning CE/BCP/BorderPatrol!!!
If you support ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol at this point, you would have called the Gestapo on the people surreptitiously moving into your neighbor's attic and huffed that you were only following the law.

... nightlords can kill Nightbane with ease, especially when it's only 4:1
Then what does x10 damage to them?

There's one listed in the Nightlands book I believe somewhere in Magog's description and stuff that says something about when blown by someone of a "pure heart" of some such stuff that it will do like massive damage to the NL's. The book says something about leveling all of Typhoon and a good portion of the surrounding area.

This sounds like a Nightlord encounter done right.
Particularly if they got the impression that it was toying with them in the process.
