KenDO on the other hand, is different.
Probably so. And kendo being a sword fighting art, would make it very different.
I think one is based more off old Shoa Lin and Karate (Kempo) while the other, Kenpo (Parker) was a streamlined version of Modern Arnis(gm eRNESTO pRESAS) and Karate.

Actually "Kempo" was the old Hepburn romanization, as of 1983 it should technically be called "Kenpo."
Actually, "kenpo" is also a sword fighting art, depending on what kanji are actually used.woflsgrin wrote:Probably so. And kendo being a sword fighting art, would make it very different.

Ed Parker created Kempo Karate in Hawaii, basing it off several styles. Kenpo is the Japanese translation of the Chinese "Chuan-fa" and comes in several versions, Kenpo, Shorinji Kenpo (Shaolin Chuan-fa), Okinawa Kenpo, Ryukyu Kenpo, etc. (I've even heard reference to "Chinese Kenpo" which doesn't make much sense and strikes me as something being taught by hustlers, rather than true martial artists.)

Cool Thanks. lol
Lots of hustlers out there. And unfortunately they are the one that make all the money. Have several in my town. They make it hard for the real deal. blah. Well I never got into it for the money.
That could make a cool game. Running all the charlatans out of town. Classic kung fu movie but done in modern times. "I take down your teachers, now your all my students, bwahahahahahah!"
Though Parker did get a lot of his stuff from Enesto Presas, I know GM Presas personally, and the man was very hurt by Parker. Cause he never got mention in Parker's style If you look at a lot of the hand sets, its right off of the sinawallis (stick drills) from Arnis, a philipino martial art.
