Finding Inspiration for Host Armor

Unread post by TechnoGothic »

How do you guy find inspiration for making a host Armor ?

Do you just grab the book and buy things you can afford ?
Do you base a Host Armor off something from a Movie or Anime and build it as close as you can ??

Please share

As for me, i like finding a cool picture of something and starting there. I then build a Host Armor with features i believe the picture may have.

I recomment to Players to do the same if they cannot come up ideas off the top of their head.

I then refer them to this web page for inspiration purposes only.
http://www.bio-boost.co.uk/

That web page has helped them alot in designing a Host Armor.
Not for smaller Host Armors but for making brutes types it sure helped.
It also helped in inspiring a few Biotics for my group.

I got to Level 6 before we stopped.

i Based my Host Armor off of this Model/Action Figure :
http://www.hlj.com/images/max/max06017.jpg

I Placed the Omega-Blaster in the HEAD.
I know, i know chest only. But i was going for a cool look.
If i could have made it to Level 8 i would have bought another Omega-Blaster for the stomach area. I was ignoring the Leg Super-Light Cells the figure might have needed...

I thought about Re-designing this guy though.
Replace the Omega-Blaster with a Heat Projection cannon instead. and save the Omega-Blaster for the stomach weapon.
I'd save alot of Bio-Points that way too at first.

Any opinion or comments on my Host Armor i built ??

I actually had the Guyver Series on tape(now I own them on DVD) before this book ever came out, circa 1995 or so. For awhile a friend of mine and myself where trying to iron out a Guyver suit for use in Rift's off and on, but never really play tested any of the versions. Then we kinda went our separate ways, myself getting married and him going off to school. So, five years down the road (4 months ago) I moved back into town and looked him up, and we starting talking about old times and about the Rift's game he host's. So I brought up the idea we had worked on about the Guyver suit and he handed me his splicers book. I am setting the premise to make on like Guyver 1, but it won't truly be complete until the char gets to level 4.

:(

I wasn't making one from scratch, I was using what systems are available in the splicers book to make a host armor as close as possible to the bio-booster armor. I also only suggested an idea for a bio upgrade, how is that a conversion?

anywho, all apologies, I'm learning as I go.

Animal themes have come to mind for some of the Dreadguard armor concepts I have played with. I do a bit of drawing now and again and one thing I'm trying to work out is Dreadguard armor that has the features of a wolf and other warm-blooded predators.

I've done this too.
I'm a huge guyver fan myself.
guyvers are pretty easy to write up with splicers.
I had also wrote guyvers up for Rifts and HU2, that was almost just like the splicer stuff.
