Probably energy pistols (paired), with Triax pump pistols (for mages with Impervious to energy) and 45. automatics with silver rounds right up there.

I voted for the heavy stuff because that looks like a lot of fun.

While digging around on the Rifts Webring, I once came upon a site called "Tsunami Arms". Good stuff.
My favorite weapon is the MLA. Magentic Linear Accelerator. A single shot rail gun basically. I say it operates similar to the Railguns in Quake 2 or Red Faction. Ammo was cheap enough that my character will never need to worry about seeing the merchant again.

I also like the stand-alone weapons available in high-tech areas. Things like the K-1000 Spider weapon system can make a fight much easier. Its as versatile as an extra mercenary and cheaper than Power Armor.

One of the best pistols ever.
Dont forget the much loved L-20 pulse rifle. 40 shots from a short, 50 from a long and you have the option of 2D6 blasts or 6D6 bursts.

Can't remember the exact name but...

The Wilk's laser pistol from the RMB (RUE as well)
The one that does 1D6MD with the +2 to strike.

I just love that thing, don't know why. I love Wilk's.

My Borg? Heavy weapons all the way.
My Dogboys? Laser rifle and a plasma ejector.
My Gunfighter? Paired pistols mostly.
My Battlemagus? Bladed weapons (typically swords).
My Cyberknight? Psi-sword or bear hands (even though he's still lvl. 1)
My Mega-Juicer? His vibro-cat claw vambrace.
My Anti-Robot Headhunter? The railgun on his SAMAS (with his missles coming a close second).

But rifles have to be my most used over all, followed by heavy, then pistols, then melee weapons. Explosives are generally a last-resort. :demon:

I love the Free Quebec lasers, especially that heavy laser rifle of theirs. Combo that with a NG powerpack and you can lay down a world of hurt on someone.

Always favored the good old NG-P7 Rifle myself, although I'm also found of carrying pistols that have effects other than just damage (such as Big Bore Revolvers or Stun Guns, etc).

After reading Merc Ops, the new Wilk's 1000 Heavy Weapon is my new favorite heavy weapon (though it's really light for it's power).

I like the way you think, Kalinda. Paired pistols is my main choice as well.

Nothing says hello like a pair of Wilks Hero Pistols. :D

However, allow me to add to this:

I also like to carry at least one Big Bore pistol. Mages hate being knocked down.

Precision sniper laser weapons (Wilks 587 from Merc Ops with a Wilks Intergrated Optics Gun-Sight from the same book), or a C-29.

NG-11S ("I like to keep this handy for close encounter's") or the new WI-GL8.

Good energy pistol and SDC pistol to finish the load.

My most common weapons are armorer or weapon smith modified/designed munchkin multi weapon systems. When not going full out munchkin I use a H&K G-11 with my (claimed to be munchkin but they don't do a lot of damage for me to consider them munchkin) DERVISH rounds. Most recently though I was in a game where we were going to try to manufacture the NEMA plasma rifle with the mini missile launcher as our mercenary groups primary weapon, since the fonders were NEMA sleepers. It didn't pan out, our primary weapons were a smattering of those found in Merc Ops.

Almost every single PC I have ever played in Palladium Games has had an L-20 Pulse Laser Rifle, or something really close to it! :D

I find that the L-20 is not only widely available, it is a great choice for those who are away from re-charging stations for extended periods of time. The L-20 holds 40 single blasts with a standard E-Clip; that is 13 Pulse Attacks with a Standard E-Clip...The Long E-Clip provides 50 Single Blasts: That is 17 Pulse attacks per Long E-Clip. In Short, the L-20 is Energy Efficient: an average of 280 MDC per Short E-Clip (If you always hit...)

There are better Rifles out there, however, they are much more difficult to get, and /or cause trouble for having them (Non-CS Parties with CS Weapons...)

KLM, That is gold. So very true, and so underused. My playergroup once left an NPC with a UAR enforcer a few miles away and when they encountered armored resistence they would call in the coordinates and launch a medium ranged missile salvo.

Grenade launchers, minimissile rifles, borgstyle launcher systems.

If it goes boom... its all good. Cause explosions are very pretty... and blood splatter is so much better.

Yeah, I mostly use the heavy duty weapons. If I have to go indoors I blow a hole big enough to FIT the weapons and myself inside comfortably and then just keep firing. Personally I like using the NG-V7 Mobile guns Howitzer railgun. I've yet to run out of ammo with it on the field. I mean it never runs out of ammo! It did jam on me once though. Another favorite is the H-11A howitzer since it fires frag rounds with a 100ft blast radius. I haven't tried out a glitterboy boomgun yet, but the damage and range seem enticing.

This really depends on the character and the situation. Still, I tend to gravitate to versitile weapons.

The NG-LG6 Rifle is one of my favs of all time. The CS C-14 (I think) is also cool. Any energy weapon is cool, but when you add the kinetic grenade launcher in a one-weapon package, it makes it all that much better. You see, there are too many baddies out there who are immune to energy or are laser resistant. The gernades are cool.

Rail guns are cool. Generally kills everything. Just too darn heavy for lil' ol' me to carry around unless im packing a Power Armor. DU and U rounds are even better assuming you have a container to keep the radio active buggers in for long time storage.

Melee weapons rock. No reloading involved. Rune weapons even better, assuming you have a weapon that likes you back. Put a vibro bayonet on that LG6 and you are doing pretty good.

If I am packing a heavy energy weapon, like the NG-E12 (i think) or Naruni Plasma cartrige gun, I tend to have a C-5 or Triax pump pistol in my boot for the above reasons.

Last but not least, for the cost effective way to go...a simple SDC assault rifle (AK-47 is still the best built, most effective weapon on the planet mind you) with a clips of regular SDC rounds, Ramjet/explosive MD rounds, and silver round strapped to your belt. The same goes for NG 12 gauge exploseive rounds for shotguns and the Sawed Off handgun.

It really depends on the character I'm using.
The Rifts game has two different groups in it (like SG1 and SGA ). The one is an ancient master who uses only ancient styled weapons (no guns), the other is a demolitions expert.
In the Phase World game I have a smuggler, and only use energy pistols and knives, and I tend to keep him out of combat.
My past characters would travel in mecha units, and use those weapons. Normally missiles first, then to the rail guns and other heavy weapons, and finally lasers to mop up with.
