I would of loved that to have been a official rifts book
Svartalf- if Cherico were a character created in a point game system, he'd have all his scores in geeky skills and his youtube and weird net stuff schticks all paid through a a Terminal Bad Luck (with more nasty GM intervention) disadvantage, and probably an Uncouth (can not have social skills) disad as well...
In an RPG with deadly situations that character would have had to be replaced a dozen times over[

I say what! A totally spiffy service you have rendered to my person, my fine young lad.
Here's a tip my boy-o.

I say, I was rather expecting something rather, err, larger. Still, beggers can't be choosers now, can we?

First off, I hope you got permission from Palladium Books to reproduce their artwork/material. It all seems decent enough but according to official material the Phoenix empire dominates the region and with their policies and power I don't see the humans of the region being much more than slaves or nomads that the Phoenix Empire harvests every now and then to trade with Atlantis. The material does seem well thought out and well balanced.

hooray table of contentsel magico -- darklorddc wrote:I think what I'll do is kill 2 birds with one stone and put in a table of contents with an appropriate disclaimer and reprint the PB copyright text that I use on the front of my web page.
I'm really glad people are enjoying this. If there's somebody around a gaming table using one of my creations I'm happy.

Gonna have a look at it as soon as I get home. Sounds good from what I'm reading here.

Wil do a more indepth analysis later, but my initial question is:
How come when the Middle East went for the nuclear conflagration and all the major targets were hit and atomized, Israel continued to exist?

I don't blame you for skirting those issues. If you are pursuing publication dodging issues like that is important. That is why I dodged any reference to september 11th in Madhaven.

The way I envisioned it, it was rather one-sided. I didn't go into it in depth because I already knew PB wanted to avoid it being too political, but essentially it boiled down to the fact that no one targeting israel had nukes or were able to get them off before Israel struck first.
Also, if the middle east did go nuclear I imagine that Israel would develop an anti-missile defense fairly quickly.
That's not in there because I was shooting for publication and was trying to skirt issues like that.
There's skirting an issue and leaving a big plot hole. A passing reference to Israel having developed anti-missile defences (which they are doing IRL allready) should cover it.

Why dodge Sept 11th in the Madhaven stuff? It's a part of history, pure and simple.
Then again, if it doesn't largely relate to what you're writing about, then there really isn't a need to go that much into it and bring it up for no reason. So there's that.
Ok...I pretty much answered my own question.

I have been slowly reading it. Great stuff and I hope you release another pdf.

Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.
Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

When I step out of line the mods do their jobs. I don't benefit from some sort of special protection.

Just glancing through, but so far it looks freakin' sweet (I really need to stop listening to my 12 year old talk).

Re: Rifts Middle East in PDF Form
Just wondering if anyone could share a copy of this PDF at all as the link is dead. I had the pleasure of reading this back in 2005 and really looking to read it again.
