What style do you use?

Unread post by Sean0352 »

I'm new around here and in an effort to get to know people I'll ask this question. What style or styles of martial arts do you train in? How long have you trained, and what would you like to train in if you could. I train in Nami Ryu Aiki Heiho. It's a Japanese weapon based art combining Kenjutsu, AikiJuijutsu, and Iaijutsu. I have trained in it since 2002 when I was stationed in SoCal. I also train in Systema, which I provided a link for in one of my first posts. I dont have anything else I would do because between Nami Ryu and Systema I'm pretty well rounded. Okay people, let's see what else we got here. I look fwd to hearing what anyone else does.

I had some formal training in tae kwan do but didn't stick to it, I prefer street brawling cause there are no rules. Don't hit the face, My ASS.

and really with proper intimidation skills there is no need to fight in a street brawl.

Never been in a street brawl. I'm sure more than a few Iraqi's would have liked to kick my ass, but between the M16 and M9 they decided against it. I checked out the thread Kuseru threw in. Alot of Chinese styles. Wing Chun was always something I thought would be good for personal defense. I'll stick with AikiJuijutsu though, alot of cool stuff you can do to a person. Keep training in whatever works for yoiu.

My TKD instructor never told us not to hit the face. If we didn't block, parry, or duck, we got kicked in the mouth, simple as that.
He taught a more practical form of TKD, and felt Olympic TKD was worthless aside from the exposure of the art.
