Oh it gets worse.
HAD James gone running on his own into the mists of Nabreus Valley, it most likely would have played out thusly;

GM; "Roll D20 please."

Player; "Um...12. That's good huh?" :-?

GM; "Depends on your point of view. In this case that is how many peices they find James Cormac torn into when they finally manage to get around to seraching for him." :demon:

Gunther & the Baroness Von-Klaus were NOT kidding when they said the place is THE most dangerous spot on Caliban... and this is coming from people who have survived on a Deathworld for nearly 800 Terran years. :D

Mind you, there are gonna be some pretty nasty things coming TOWARDS said valley soon enough. :?

I had a feeling it was some sort of death field. Which is why I went back and made clear that Cormac was running to do recon.

Okay, update for 'On wings of Fire.' will be written & posted soon enough, however this coming week will be game-less.
IRL stuff will be preventing me from doing my GM'ing duties. :frust: Sadly, where I left the crew last makes it very difficult for me to do my usual Off Camera filler. :nh:

...hmmmm...
Perhaps figure a way for the final PC to show up at begining of next session so everyone can just get on with the story at large, as opposed to having to do MORE expositionary narative.

I'll think on it.

So, to get this back on the positive end of things for my friends Calto40k, and DhAkael. What does everyone think about where we left off last session? Screaming trees, glowing plant life (akin to moss, and I have a feeling insidious in some way) And a mysterious mist with unknown (to out pcs at least) dangers beyond. A looming battle with the Necrols. Oh, and a potential compatriot waiting back at the Calibanite stronghold. Interesting stuff!

Ah hell bro, Cormac looks at that guy like a jack hole with little man syndrome (Needs a serious boot in his @$$!) LMFAO of course that isn't to say he isn't a threat just that Cormac doesn't take him very seriously at the moment.

I WILL get the re-cap done soonish.
Spoiler:
(and only reason I'm doing this post is so a certain posterior-retentive individual's escoteric wanking and silde-rule prolestization on another thread, gets shoved down the list)

It's only been 48 hours since I finished the move-out of someone from their 4th.-floor apartment (No elevator...none), so yeah... when body & mind are ready. :ok:

Remember: Lift with the knees, not the back. And belay any large furniture with safety lines when going down stairs, just as a precaution against shifting mass and slippery hands, Better to be silly-looking than flat-bodied and ER-bound.

“In like Flynt” Aug. 28-??, P.A.109.
Eventually another radio message comes through and again on the correct frequency. Feeling that the warning should be heeded, Rika keeps the Sleipnir hidden under cloak and has the team either mount up on their personal vehicles or ride within the Naruni HRV. The trip is uneventful, despite taking the road through one of the Caliban forests, eventually winding up in a mountain valley, covered in low scrub and grass. Along one edge could be seen a walled city with admixture of modern & archaic buildings, while central to the valley was a low hill with a tower of megacrete towering nearly 12 storeys.

Team Alpha was greeted at the halfway point by a cavalry formation of Knights and armsmen, dressed in similar style to Deiter’s exo-plate. All did not go well. First the standard bearer for the Knights of Klaus miss-timed his warhorse’s turn and fouled an entire wing of the formation. Secondly, the Knight Commander of Klaus, Fredrich Hauer XXIII, on meeting with Rika & everyone else on team Alpha accused the group of lying to “a stupid credulous half-witted boy” and demanded to know “where did House Shonaii hide such advanced war gear?”
The harangues got more and more belligerent and personal (making the assembled knights very uncomfortable), that Captain Hanlah snapped, and using some form of teleport leap-kicked the pompous Knight Commander of his steed with a large dent in his chest plating. Things could have gone from bad to lethal, if a mysterious, black body-suited man had not appeared on the scene to reprimand Sir Hauer and offer apologies to Phoenix Force. Special Emissary Günter Shrek, of the Order of Klaus had been sent to try and prevent any “misunderstandings” between the ‘visitors’ and the Knight Commander. Under threat of censure (and also a full platoon of power armoured soldiers with auto-shotguns at high-port) Sir Hauer rode back to the city while “Mister” Shrek escorted the team over to the tower placed within the valley.

James Cormak noted as they approached the tower that there was something out of place; an REF Beta-Fighter in GERWALK mode parked just outside the main gates of the citadel. The rest of the team who were residents of Lazlo city also found this incredibly odd.
No time was given for too much introspection as when the vehicles were allowed inside the cavernous main vehicle hanger in the base of the citadel tower (and the main blast gates shut behind them) they were greeted by a third odd character straight out of an early 1800’s European painting. Matron Gertrude, Major-domo of the Knight Tower of Klaus, home of the blood of Klaus.

As the team was hustled along by the prim and efficient middle-aged woman to a large transparent elevator-tube, they learned that Squire Deiter-Brandt was in residence undergoing medical treatment from “administrative punishment” meted out by the Knight Commander for “gross incompetence and loss of valuables”. Before Shalyndra Baza-Khaine could charge off to mete out her own punishment upon Sir Hauer, the elevator opened up at the top floor of the citadel tower; a small antechamber guarded by two crimson armoured soldiers with an impressive circular battle-steel door which opened as soon as Felix Perez approached it. Revealed inside was an enormous chamber dimly lit with red lighting, at the center, a circular array of computers and a four meter diameter holo-table, showing a view of the solar system (and a highlighted wire-frame graphic of the space-squid encountered two Terran days previously).
Many figures could be seen moving about the chamber, but six stood out; four lying at equidistant points around the computers & holo-table and Gunther Shrek talking with his mistress (a young lady in skin tight black-body glove with matching cape and hood.

Baroness Integra Mercedes Von-Klaus, High-Guardian of Mysteries.

Information was hastily exchanged between the two leaders, Rika & Integra, while the rest of Team Alpha watched and occasionally interjected questions of their own. The majority of the conversation dealt with the ambition of Knight Commander Hauer and the inability of the Baroness to remove him from his office due to his influence among the congress of lords, due to the fact Baroness Klaus was female. The other part was what brought Phoenix Force to speak the people of Caliban in the first place; the alien reavers.

One of the many others in the chamber (a technician who interpreted the information garnered by the quartet of meditating psionic “Seekers”) brought grave news. The reason for the reavers being on Caliban was still unknown, but their ultimate destination had been deduced. A place named the Dead-Lands of Nabraeus. A sixty mile radius bowl-valley carved into the crust of Caliban during the great war that had wiped out the original Morphi population, filled with magicite laden ‘mist’ and home to unknown horrors, as no one had ever returned alive or sane in the over seven hundred & fifty years of human colonization.

The members of Team Alpha volunteered to attempt to head the reavers off at the pass (which were traveling extremely fast via some unknown form of ley-line teleportation), on the conditions that Deiter Brandt be turned over to their own care, and that serious talks among ALL the heads of the great houses be convened with them… provided Team Alpha returned alive.

A quick transit in Slepnir covered the hundreds of miles in short order; however the warnings they had been given about the strange effects of the Dead-Lands held true. Sensors systems became erratic and even controls started to fail. Landing just outside of the strange Aetheric field the paranormal hunters along with Deiter Brandt made their way towards the most likely ley-line the reavers would use. Along the way, odd sensations, visions and voices assailed them… even Rika’s allergies to strong magic, long dormant, erupted with titanic sneezing.
The final straw on the team’s nerves and fears was when they realized the trees were covered not in bark, but rotting skin, and screamed when prodded.

Most definitely! I look forward to Calto40k bringing Jack Chirax out of mothballs and watching you two (metaphorically speaking) go all Veritech alpha/beta combo on some @$$es! That'll be fun!

Gonna need both mecha-jocks in the next plot arc.
Won't be for a few sessions yet, but I'm just sayin'...
-sigh-
I only wish that combat could be accelerated, but;
1) Text-based RP is constrained by how quickly a person can type.
2) Internet connection speed / refresh rates are NOT created equal.
3) knowledge / accessability of character sheet and bonuses varies from person to person.
4) IRL interuptions happen... even to the GM :P :frust:

...now y'know why I prefer to do mostly story / interaction based sessions as opposed to "Roll for init" ;)

Voice chat? Hell, that could make things work faster, looks like that ware is free and fairly easy to implement. Would need to get a headset. Although personally, my net connection isn't the fastest out there, so that could be an issue. I thought about suggesting Skype as a possible solution to the combat lag as well, but didn't due again to my personal network slowness. Not much I can do about that due to $$ issues. In other words; I barely make it month to month as is. lol

OTHER problem is, my studio is RIGHT under the people whose house I'm permitted to live in.
I could drop a megatonne nuke beside Bullmoose and he wouldn't flinch...speak above a soft whisper and he's shreiking and bellowing like I've hoofed him in the nuttsaq.

So...yeah.
Audio-based ain't happening.

My muse has completely locked up :P
I think going out for a bit of a stroll, get some air, sit down and just do the danged re-cap when I get back.
