Isn't there also a spell where a mage can send an image of what they are presently doing?
"Oh look Karl, just using this outhouse."
"Hey Karl watch me sacrifice this human child to my Shadow Beast"
That comes with danger of Karl tracking you down though. He could give a sketch artist description. Not sure if he would let CS telepaths scan his brain for a direct image of the mage and their surroundings.
