Taalismn, do you write humorous fanfiction? I ask because you keep having the most hysterical ideas. I can't even drink my coffee when I see that you've posted, for fear of it going up my nose.

I read a lot of fanfiction, but I just lack the patience to sit down and plot out a proper storyline, then see it through. So I resort to the equivalent of sound-bytes like these to achieve the effect that that I'm a much more interesting sod than I really am(truth is, I'm a bit of a jerk :P ). The trick is to be an AMUSING jerk. If you do that well enough, you get promoted to Deadpan Snarker. Do it long enough, and you become politely known as a Curmudgeon.

“Technically they ARE alien, as in ‘not from THIS Earth’...”
“Not helping, Ami.”
“...sorry...”
“Pushing us around, acting so smug, interfering in our fights, lecturing us-”
“ENOUGH, REI! WE GET THE PICTURE!”
“I really hate those warmongering happiness-destroying bastards!”
“I think most of them are of legitimate birth, Rei! Besides, they don’t make war except on the youma, and they don’t destroy happiness! They do less collateral damage than we do, and they get their fights over faster than we do!”
“Oh, what about that youma they stopped us from dusting?! The one they let get away!?”
“THAT they explained wasn’t a youma, just some traveller from another galaxy making a pit stop to fix his spaceship!”
“So they say...and what about the city block they leveled!?”
“It was the bad guy’s fortress, built overnight on a formerly abandoned lot! And they took care of it faster than we could have!”
“By disrupting the lives of everybody with an arrogant show of force!”
“Okay, so the giant transforming spaceship the size of several aircraft carriers literally stomping the Dark Warlord’s Headquarters of Hideousness was a bit much, but it got the job done. That’s no reason to go on and on about how evil these people are and why you dislike them so much!”
“Matako, I expect that from somebody who’s dating one of the enemy!”
“THEY’RE NOT THE ENEMY!!!! HE’S MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR!”
“Who happens to be one of the ‘marines’ detailed to keep us under surveillance!”
“IT’S NOT LIKE THAT! HE’S A NICE GUY PROTECTING THE NEIGHBORHOOD!”
”I expect that too from a traitor, defending the enemy.”
“WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!”
”Traitor.”
“YOU TAKE THAT BACK!”
”Traitor, traitor, traitor.”
“ARGH!”
”Ami, do something!”
“What? I can’t do anything...My mom’s dating a visiting doctor over at the university. She’s happy. They’re introducing new cancer treatments and regeneration therapies over at the hospital. It has ‘UEsG’ written all over it.”
“You suspect they’re infiltrating the hospital?!”
“No, they’re blatantly walking in and announcing themselves. I saw the boxes of medical equipment they’re bringing in. They all have ‘UEsG’ stamped all over them.”
“Haruka, Michiru, you going to weigh in on this?”
”We sorta support Rei here...”
“SEE?!”
“But there’s nothing we can do about it...”
”Eh?!”
“They got Hotaru.”
“NANI!?”
”Her high school had an ROTC program and summer camp. Guess who ran it?”
“You mean?”
“-She just completed basic training and SAR camp-”
(Cut to a shot of Hotaru Tomoe wearing a suit of CDFC armor, carrying a blue EMT bag, walking alongside a number of other young women in similar gear as they cross an airfield sporting a variety of aerospace craft...Sea Sergeants, Glamors, JSDF VTOLs, HERMES floaters, Ospreys, a Catalina flying boat, even a UNSC Pelican. She’s talking animatedly with another young woman next to her with ‘Airman Wales’ stenciled on her armor’s nametag)
Hotaru: “So you’re really heir to the Throne of England?”
Wales*: “What’s left of it. And you’re Princess of Saturn?”
Hotaru: “What’s left of it.”
(Cut back to the gathered Senshi)
“She’s already signed up to do a tour of duty with an SAR squadron on Takamatsu.”
“I can see why you’re bummed.”
“...That, and she’s already being paid more than I’ve been making racing.”
“Damn....”
“It’s all gone downhill since they took Setsuna away...”
“What ever happened to her? Have you heard anything?”
“Nothing. I’m sure they’re doing horrible things to her, though.”
(Cut to, a shot of hands cuffed behind a bare back, long green hair plastered to the skin. There’s a long drawn-out moan, then a shot of a large syringe getting filled with a strange-looking substance)
(Cut back to the Senshi)
“Torture, definitely. Horrible torture. Nothing less would stop her from trying to escape and get back to us.”
(Cut back to the needle beading with fluid. There’s another long drawn out moan in the background)
(Senshi again)
“Poor Setsuna....”
(Cut back to the handcuffs and moaning and gasping. Draw back to reveal a green-haired Setsuna furiously necking with a redhaired girl in a padded room, both of them handcuffed, but otherwise unimpeded in their throes of passion, though they are dressed enough to preserve modesty )(Somewhere, several fanboys suffer aneurysms and collapse)
(Cut to two mental hospital attendants, one of whom is delivering a dose of plant food with a large syringe to a potted flower. They look up at the latest moan of pleasure echoing down the hall.)
“They went through the strawberries and the champagne shots fast.”
”Don’t they ever stop?”
“Martial arts endurance and temporal enhancement. They’ll be at it for HOURS.”
”Be glad when they get the new sound proofing installed.”
“Or another wing built.”
“Glad to see SOMEBODY enjoying their stay here.”
“Oh, you weren’t here in the old days when she first arrived.”
“Oh really? Which one? We have three of them!”
“The original. Real diehard escapist, until she started making a profit working out of her padded room.”**
(Cut back to the Senshi)
“Poor Setsuna...Those evil bastards...I really hate those guys. I really really hate hate-”
“ARGHHHH!!!!”
(Cut to a pair of disguised Intelligence operatives on stakeout)
Spook One: “So what are they doing now?”
Spook Two: (holding surveillance scope)”Looks like the tall brunette is trying to strangle the one with the dark hair.”
Spook One: “Again?”
Spook Two: “Uh-huh. Looks like the black-haired one is trying to take the nose off the brunette though.”
Spook One:”Think we should call in reinforcements? The brunette IS his girlfriend after all.”
Spook Two:”Nah, what would we say to him? ‘We’ve been watching your girlfriend’? I’d be creeped out if somebody told me that.”

(*In the Baseline Robotech Universe, the British Royal Bloodline survived by virtue of at least one of the Princes being in the American Southwest, doing exercises with the UEDF military, at the time of the Zentraedi Rain of Death. Owing to the near total destruction of the British Isles and the serious pruning of aristocratic bloodlines, the few remaining members of the House of Lords changed the primogeniture laws to allow women to inherit the Royal Crown of England, paving the way for the half-Terran/half-Zentraedi Princess of Wales to one day inherit the Crown.)

**Haven 3 Maximum Security Psychiatric Hospital Facility
Sometimes the GMP has to arrest people who are dangerous, not simply to others, but to themselves, or, because of mental conditions, are at risk from others. Sometimes a villian(ness) is simply a sick hero(ine), and appropriate measures must be taken...but not always in the public eye. For these unfortunates, the GMP has set up a series of ‘dark havens’, facilities hidden away from the public, and off the radar and official records.
Haven 3, sometimes called Foam Rubber Acres, is one such facility....a psychiatric hospital and penitentary complex for maladjusted detainees. Haven 3 is the facility set aside for women.
The hospital itself is located in a remote and secret region...It originally was located in the recovering forests of remote western R-Earth Canada, but may have been moved since then, possibly even to another alternate Earth. Since the ceasefire and sunsequent alliance with the Invid, it has even been rumored that the facility is concealed in a Genesis Pit/Geofront. The security is heavy, the ward guards wearing full EBA(patterned after one of the early model ASC armors, but with a distinctive bright yellow padded surfacing) and backed by Unicorn CDCR-1 Battloids(necessary, since some of the inmates are parahumans).
Notable residents of Haven-3 have included Rei-IIIe(subsequently rehabed), Ranko Saotome, Sailor Pluto/Setsuna Meioh(actually two of them), and Doctor Ritsuko Akagi(though the latter was moved out to another facility when trouble broke out between her and Rei IIIe). Henrietta Croce also reportedly served a short stint in Haven-3, her bionics disabled from ‘superhuman’ mode, until the GMP set up a pediatric psych rehab program for her elsewhere.

Current residents of note:
*Setsuna Meioh(Setsuna-A)---Committed when she was captured trying to stage a pre-emptive attack from her homeworld(NE-2J, later reclassified as ‘PSME-1’(Post-Silver Millenium Earth)) on the UEsG presence in NG-Earth01. Was arguably the first ‘parahuman’ committed to a UEsG psychiatric facility; her confinement and treatment essentially set the guidelines for the committals to follow. Though Setsuna has subsequently mellowed under treatment, she is still considered a low chance for a full recovery, and remains confined for her own protection. Frankly, though, she ‘s quite pleased with the way things are(she actually thwarted an escape attempt by one of her two ‘sisters’), turns a small profit designing her own (risque) clothing line from the inside, and having a long-running romantic affair with fellow resident Ranko Saotome.

*Setsuna-B---Sailor Pluto on NGEarth-5i. She attacked an Invid simulagent on the planet, alerting the UEsG infiltration team to the presence of a co-existing Sailor Senshi presence on the world, and was captured before she could kill the Invid operative. Violently dedicated to the Crystal Tokyo At All Costs doctrine, and was committed to Haven-3, where she remains. (In contrast to the much more stylishly attired Setsuna-A, -B frequently appears in 'Hannibal Lector Institutional' fashion).

*Setsuna-C---Sailor Pluto on PSME-2. Went insane when Pluto was downgraded as a planet by the International Astronomical Society. Her fellow Sailor Senshi subdued her, tied her up, and delivered her to the UEsG SDEF team with instructions to ‘take good care of her’. Committed to Haven-3 when she expressed intentions to ‘prune the temporal lines’ of astronomers and ungrateful Sailor Senshi. Acutely depressed and psychotic, she remains under wraps at Haven-3. Known to spend most of her time alternately commiserating and bickering with Setsuna-B. Just don't bring up modern astronomy around her.

*’Ranko’ Saotome---Ranma avatar from T(akahashi)1/2E-2. Locked in female form and driven to suicide, she was stopped by junketing UEsG tourists. Despite efforts to get her out of her suicidal depression, ‘Ranko’ refused to give up on her efforts to self-terminate, and was subsequently committed to Haven-3 for her own protection. Has responded to treatment, but is considered to remain a danger to herself. Is in a long-running romance with Setsuna-A(ironically she's even more 'manly' than he was before she got locked).

*Ahanas---Ex-queen of the city of Ishta on RT-01 Windaria. Committed for extreme(suicidal) depression following the defeat of her city in war, her efforts to kill her former lover, and an attempt to put a bullet in her own brain, though it’s also rumored that the UEsG wanted her out of the way and not causing a stink as the UEsG moved her war-torn homeland from a fuedal system to a democratic society. Currently remains hospitalized, with no definite date or schedule for rehab. Doesn't acknowledge her ward-mates as even being there, not out of any sense of arrogance, but simply because she's apparently zoned out most of the time.

Yes, we're very proud of our valiant Nuclear Howitzer troops(Tactical Corps). Always ready to blow stuff up on a moment's notice. The creation of N2 artillery shells has kept large calibre ballistic artillery alive and well in the UEsG. They're one of the units that keeps the old MACII in service, as well as railway guns, and larger massdrivers(they're petitioning the UNSC for MAC Cannons to mount on their MAC 2s and 3s)...It may not be Fully Automatic Dakka, but it's damn impressive Dakka-THUD when you start lobbing railway car-sized kinetic slammers...or Czar Bomba rounds into intruding dimensional gates.
Of course, they tend to get into fistfights with the EVA Corps, whose giant 200-ft tall mecha an use heavy artillery pieces as sidearms. But between the two of them, they keep interest in the big projectile weapons alive and well.

Besides, there's something just so SATISFYING about throwing shipping container-sized hypersonic shells at something.

which is why the Bolo brigades have never been very successful in convincing the UEsG to switch to Hellbores and Hellrails.. on the gripping hand it the term "Bolostomp" is part of the official lexicon of the UEsG.. :)

That's also why the original Martian military ranges in both the baseline Robotech and Evangelion universes had to closed down; even with the exercise grounds on the other side of the planet from the Mars colonies established on both Mars-analogues, there was too much fear of a stray artillery round going ballistic and landing in a residential or commericial zone. NOw they have to declare entire planets to be live fire military reservations. UEsG Evangelions and Bolos play HARD.

“The community of Cheland welcomes you travellers!”
The combined UEsG SDEF Tactical Squad/Recon Escort scouting unit looked at the group of young elven(?) women standing in front of the scouting party’s M2209B Janissary as it idled just inside the gateway arch to the town they’d approached. Or at least they looked like elves, if the long ears were any indication. Vulcans didn’t(or rather, weren’t SUPPOSED to, according to the literature---nobody in the UEsG had yet encountered Vulcans) dress in scanty silks and have come-hither looks like these people were giving the squad.
A particularly good-looking maiden had stepped forward, catching Squad Sergeant Albert’s attention as she meekly sashayed towards them.
#”Okay, let’s all be calm and collect and peaceful like and see what the lady has to say.”#
“We are aware of what you seek, oh travellers.”
*”Oh REALLY? And what would THAT be?”*
%“Ah, notice that there’s no MEN in sight? Just girls? And pretty ones at that?”%
#”Yeah, we noticed that, Kal. But maybe we just came into town in time for the local Ladies’ Day Out. Let’s not jump to conclusions just yet.”#
“We’re willing to...comply, if you’ll just ...be gentle...” Hands moved towards the tops of dresses, some of them already slithering off shapely shoulders...
%“Okaaaayyy....and this is getting officially weird...”%
*”Yeah, well, Al, we can start jumping to conclusions. I’m reading about three dozen of ‘em moving into position above and behind us, armed with spears and crossbows. I got similar action around us.”*
#“Trap?”#
*“Trap. Eyes off the strip tease and start watching the shadows. I think cutting our throats is the real floor show here.”*
#“Not if I can help it. Mundz, first sign of trouble, take out that archway and dump those archers. We split for that bridge we saw earlier-”#

“Celcia, are you SURE there’s spell-tats here to be found?”
“Airi, I’m SURE! Cheland’s the largest community of elves in this area! How can there NOT be any parts of the dimensional spell here? The odds favor us finding at least a part.”
“Right! So we go in and start stripping backs! Foward!”
BOOM!
“What the---?!”
“That sounded like an explosion!”
“Really?”
“FORWARD!”

“WHAT?!”
*”WHAT?!”*
(Chorus) “A TANK!?”
“What’s another tank doing here?!”
*”GUYS! WE GOT ARMORED IN FRONT OF US! BLOCKING THE BRIDGE!”*

”MIHKE! DON’T-”

“WE’RE HIT!!!!”
#”NO! WE’RE GOOD! WE’RE GOOD! GET US THE &##$^ OUTTA HERE!!! BACK INTO THE VILLAGE!!! REVERSE!!! REVERSE!!!”#
VVRRRRRHHHH!!!
RAT
ARATARATARATARATARATA!
ACHARRRSHHHBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM
“Ah, Ritzy? The bridge behind us, just sort of...blew up...”
“Well, looks like we can only go FORWARD!”
“Right into the obvious TRAP those people set for us!? They must have known we were coming! Why else the other tank!?”
“Tank? That looked more like some sort of armored personnel carrier. Maybe an M-113 variant, though it looked a little like a Swedish Pbv or maybe an American AIFV-”
“Ritzy, it had a turret and a gun and it was coming right at us! It counts as a tank!”
“Junpei, keep your eyes open! That thing may have retreated to try to surprise us again!”
“On it! Let’s see those bastards try to get the drop on us now that we know their nefarious plan!”

“What the hell was that!?”
“Looked like an old Japanese Type 74 MBT from what I could see of it! Though what it’s doing here, I don’t know-”
“Well, obviously the villagers were meaning to ambush us with it! That was their heavy support! What damage did they do us?”
“A dent, nothing penetrated! We’re still good! Hull’s still intact!”
“We take no chances on a repeat performance! That thing has a one-oh-five gun if it’s really a Type 74!!”
“Where the hell did that thing come from?! I thought this was supposed to be a low-tech planet?!”
”Other dimensional travellers maybe? And maybe the locals got it the same way they tried to get us!”
“Barricade ahead-”
“Take it out! Run ‘em down! These *%&%^ers want to try to ambush us with that burlesque back there, they can expect to take some lumps in return! I HATE being bushwacked!”
”Got movement behind us! Mechanical sounds! Tank treads!”
“So they’re still after us?! Bastards! Let’s turn the tables on them and see how THEY like being mousetrapped! Turn LEFT here-”

BBBBbbbbbbooooooommmmmmmm.....
The Cheland Town Elders looked on as ANOTHER building collapsed, disappearing from the skyline as the TWO armored beasts confronted each other yet again, trying to tag each other with their fire weapons. Already a half dozen sizeable fires were breaking out across the town, the fruit market was a total loss, the central statue had been run over a dozen times already, and the people were panicking like a herd in a thunderstorm.
The Elders winced again as the town shook again and another plume of fire and smoke marked the destruction of yet another community landmark.
“And it was such a GOOD plan...”

Notes: The M2209B Janissary is a late-model development of the M2200, featuring a micro-fusion powerplant, improved sensors, retractable grouser gear for better cross-country performance, and a combined pulse laser/automatic grenade launcher turret. It’s favored by the SDEF as an armored recon vehicle because of its endurance away from a logistics base.
On the other hand, the Type-74 is possessed by a playful cat spirit, and requires no fuel to run, sports a 105mm cannon, and is driven by arguably insane people, so it’s a closer match than you might think.

“Really?”

THOSE WHO HUNT ELVES!!!!  Would not mind seeing a continuation or two out of this. And why did they attack the Robotech group? Did they get them mixed up with the other group?

Well, TWHE attacked the Robotechers for two reasons...one, the SDEFers were coming out of the village weapons hot, and apparently aggressive. Two, the neko spirit inhabiting their tank decided either it wanted to play, or that the other AFV constituted a rival cat so it decided to assert its dominance.
And yes, the villagers had bad intelligence, and just naturally assumed big rolling metal box+outsiders=Elf Hunters.
And of course it all goes downhill from there....

"At last, Jo, we resolve who is the best, the ultimate, the perfect culmination of things."
The ash-white blonde in leather sneered at her captive audience, her voice echoing around the aircraft carrier hangar bay.
The white haired young woman in medical restraint harness glared back at her, red eyes gleaming with anger.
The brunette in the cowgirl outfit, chained to the wall, looked on in horror.
"Only one will stand triumphant."
"And one is going to be arrested."
THAT voice echoed even more loudly around the hangar bay.
Three sets of eyes snapped around to locate the source of the voice.
Coincidentally, that action happened simultaneously with a synchronized clicking of gun actions. A LOT of gun actions. Some of them apparently in the multi-barrel fully-automatic cannon category.
Maria, Jo, and Meg found themselves staring at a whole LOT of armed and armored figures where they had been no one before, Figures in full coverage black and white armor, and a smaller number of ones in green and blue armor. Some of them larger than the others. ALL of them aiming unfamiliar, but definitely dangerous-looking, weaponry.
Half-naked as she was, Jo would later swear she actually felt warmer, from all the laser spots covering her body.
And in the front of them was a woman in the same black and white armor, but with her helmet removed, revealing pale skin, red eyes, and long white-blue hair. And a most definite disapproving expression.
"Another Genocide Angel?"
"Not in this incarnation, no. Now, if you'll drop the blades and get down on the deck, hands outspread, and you won't get hurt."
Maria considered it. "I think not."
With that she threw the blade in her hand, aiming at the newcomer's jugular. Sloppy, taking off her helmet.
*DING*
A glowing orange hexagonal field of energy stopped the blade before it had flown half its course. The twisted and partially melted blade dropped with a clang to the deck.
Maria stared at the destroyed weapon, almost stopping her headlong rush to attack the other newcomers while their apparent leader tried to breath through the blade that SHOULD have been stuck in her throat. She caught a raised eyebrow and an expression of disappointment on the face of her target-
*FRAZZZAP*
Then what felt like a lightning bolt wiped away her consciousness in white-hot agony.
As the genetically-engineered killer dropped limply to the deck, the woman turned her attention to the other two persons at the end of the room.
"We're here to affect a rescue of kidnapped persons and break up an illegal bioweapons operation. I have warrants for the arrest of senior RAPT officials. Anybody have a problem with that?"
Looking at the guns now aimed at them, the two former members of the now-defunct Burst Angel group shook their heads.
"Excellent. Sergeant, get that woman off the wall. And get the other one something to wear?"
"At once, Captain Satori!"
Several of the armored officers moved forward to unchain Meg from the wall.
*CLANG*
Just then, the door at the far end of the hangar bay slammed open, and a score of RAPT cyberoids came charging in.
*CLICK* "FRRRREEEMMM*
-and immediately were cut to pieces by the several dozen energy weapons of the arrest squad cranked up to full power.

*CLANG*
-Another several dozen cybots came charging in from another bay door.
"Oh bother." Captain Satori-Brown swore. She touched a button on her wrist comm.
*SKRRREEEEEKKKKKKK*
The entire roof of the hangar bay peeled up and away, as the upper torso of an Evangelion-ArchAngel leaned over the now open-topped hangar bay, dripping sea water down onto the deck floor as the massive auto-gun batteries and missile launcher racks festooning it tracked and locked onto the now motionless cybots, squeezed back against the far wall by a glowing barrier.
Meg would later swear that she felt a lot warmer from all those targeting lasers...and they weren't even aimed at her.
"Really, does Mister Glenford think we're STUPID not to bring adequate backup?"
"Captain, we coulda taken them..."
"Yes, sergeant, no doubt in spectacular gun-play," The GMP captain gestured to the UEsG Evangelion Unit currently utterly cowing the Recently Armed Police of Tokyo organization's latest weapons, then to the mixed team of Global Military Police and Sea Squad troopers, several full conversion cyborgs, and several power armors moving in to disable and disarm them. "But why bother? Let's get this mess taken care of, then we clean up the viper's nest ashore, shall we?"

Woho!! Burst Angles! When in the series does this happen?(Been a while since I've seen it) Have I told you your one of my favorite writers? Did not like the ending though.

Next to last episode, when Maria kidnaps Meg to force Jo back into the RAPT fold, then disobeys orders to finish her fight with Jo.
Not sure where it would fit into the overall UEsG continiuum, but if law and order broke down in Robotech Tokyo, groups like RAPT might emerge, messing with advanced technology to advance their own agendas; the GMP would be naturals for policing such abuses of the technology.
It really couldn't be Evangelion Earth(though that would be preferable), because it's firmly established that Tokyo is nuked and flooded in that universe.
Likewise, in Appleseed Earth, Japan is run by Posideon, which would NOT appreciate an outside police force like the GMP on their territory, though it's POSSIBLE that in that universe Old Tokyo is a slum compared to the floating cities Posideon is supposed to have established. Especially if the region was wracked by earthquakes on the scale of the 2011 tumblers.
And yes, the GMP team also includes a number of cyborgs seconded from Appleseed ESWAT, and possibly some Landmates(though the GMP still favors variants of the Unicorn PA for some duties).
And yes, Jo definitely falls into the 'exotic albino with the checkered past' motif in anime. The UEsG GMP are NATURALLY interested when they hear reports of this, so they send their own 'pale skin, pale hair, red-eyed' operative to investigate, along with backup.

"Okay, I know it's Christmas, and by some strange temporal quirk, it just happens to fall on the same day in all the universes across the UEsG, but.... Take> The. Antlers. Off. The. Evangelion. Now."
"But the Invid all have Santa caps on!"
"They're alien and arguably insane. We have a professional image to maintain. Take the antlers off. I won't ask where you got a pair that big."

“Flaming hot Gendos! Who the HELL are these guys and why the hell are they shooting at us?!”
“Don’t know, don’t care! Haul ass back to the Gate!” Sergeant Treskin brought up the rear, his rifle dancing from side to side as he sought something to kill.
The REP swore another blue streak as he snapped off a burst at the barely glimpsed black-clad form and had the satisfaction of seeing his fire actually connect with the bastard, sending the assassin flying into a wall. Ever since they had been ambushed, it was a hell-run back for the dimensional recon team, hounded by their unexpected assailants. They’d started out with six guys; they’d been whittled down to three. Especially after that big mono-wheeled assault bike had joined the fight and blasted Ketter and Emboso. Another, Private Sanchez, had been gunned down by a storm of what looked like compressed energy bolts that had carved through the scout’s light body armor like an industrial sand blaster.
Whoever these mutts were, they came loaded for bear. But at least the REPs had managed to smoke the monocycle and blew up two of their attackers in fighting retreat.
Almost there...almost there, he could just about feel the Gate distortion even without the beacons normally placed around an established foothold. Yeah, there was the mobe-drone, crouched in the alley where they’d left it.
“Come on, guys, almost home free! Move it, move it, mo-LOOK OUT!”
His warning came too late as he saw another salvo of those damn energy projectiles come curving from around the corner, overwhelming Wilson, shattering his armor and incinerating the body within. He was so busy dodging the bolts coming at him that he almost missed Sergeant Treskin get obliterated by another massive energy blast, like some sort of anti-tank weapon, that shot out from across the street.
The impact of a half-dozen barely dodged energy bolts hammered him into the pavement, his body armor just managing to keep him from being flash-fried. He rolled to his feet, firing off laser bolts, managing to tag another one of the killers in skintight black that had fired on him. Almost abstractly he noticed they looked human, owing to the fact that the one he shot wasn’t wearing a helmet to his outfit.
Then another dark mass came looming out of the shadows. This one looked like a headless gorilla all in black armor with tendrils and hoses dripping from its top and back like dreadlocks. He played his rifle across its chest, emptying his e-clip, and wasn’t surprised to see the thing shrug off the photonic assault. Then it raised its massive paw, palm glowing ominously.
The REP scout didn’t need to hang around any longer. He turned on his heel and dashed for the Gate, his only other action being to slap the mobe in passing to arm the destruct charge, then he dove for the Gate.
As he felt the armor on his back suddenly break out in white hot sparks, he felt the comforting tingling coolness of the Gate snatch him up and whisk him away...

“Oh damn! One of them got away! Bastards!”
The hunter threw the controller down as the last alien life sign faded off it. He looked up just in time to see the Hard Suit get blown back out of the alley and sent tumbling kettle-over-arse as the alley and adjacent abandoned building collapsed in fire and smoke.
“Yo! You okay in there?”
The Hard Suit’s pilot took a moment to mutter back. “Yeah! But damn! I ALMOST had that last one!”
Another hunter came stumbling up. “Yoshi’s dead! That %&$^er BURNED him! Like Dee and Shen! Tell me we got a buttload of points for that! We WORKED for that!”
“Gantzie baby’s not saying anything. The Black Ball’s mum.”
“Oh, don’t tell me we can’t bring any of those guys back after all this!”
“You know, under the armor, those guys looked almost human!”
“Yeah, but they’re aliens! Just like those other things looked almost human until they started chewing faces off! And what about those critters that looked like trees?! And the vampires?”
“Don’t mention the &###ing vampires ever again, Daish.”
“Get yourselves together and let’s get going. This was NOT one of our better hunts; four for five, and we lost the ‘cyle. These bastards got damn lucky!”
They felt the by-now-familiar sensation of the teleport spooling up to snap them back to their ‘base’; looked like this hunt was over .

Left enough clues.
Suffice it to say, although UEsG energy weapons should carve through those black skinsuits like acid through styrofoam, those X-, and Y-, and Z-Guns the hunters use have INCREDIBLE fire control options.
And the hunters have access to some truly nasty hardware including a
Spoiler:
GIANT robot that can go completely stealth
.
The hunters' world (or is several) is one seriously screwed up place, and that's BEFORE it really turns dark and ugly.

Ouch...
SO close.
It IS Gantz. The manga.
I thought the black suits, X-guns, Z-guns, and point scoring would be dead giveaways.
Google 'Gantz Equipment' and you'll see the hardware(including the giant robot) listed in the Gantz Wiki.

 No... way... That series actully came to mind when I read it and I just didn't know why, since I honestly thought I didn't know. I have never seen the anime or read the manga. That's just... werid. And sorry, my time has been VERY limited lately, so I didn't look it up, and forgetful when I did have some time. How about this for a wakky ideal, they meet the Mupets? Can you just imagine Gonzo getting a hold of Reflex weapons?!? That just poped into my head.

You should be more worried if Bunsen Honeydew manages to slip into the Robotech Research Center. Though admittedly the only casualty would be Beaker.

Shinji looked at the massive purple mass of what had been introduced to him as ‘Evangelion Unit 01, the last great hope for humanity against the Angels”, followed by the announcement that he was to be its pilot.
“So this is all that I was brought here for?”
“That is correct!”
The tall grim figure of the man Ikari Shinji knew passingly as his father appeared above them in a windowed opening, looking down gargoyle-like at his son.
“It’s been a while, Shinji.” He said to him.
“So this is all that I was brought here for?”
“I have a use for you, our sole pilot is incapacitated therefore you have been activated as a replacement. You are to enter the Unit-01 and pilot it.”
“I have a better idea; you put up your hands and consider yourself under arrest for crimes against humanity. Now. There’s no way in hell I’m getting in that thing for you.”
“I see. If you will not pilot and instead waste my time with flippant fantasies, then I have no use for you.”
“So, resisting arrest?”
“Ready the other pilot, this one has proven usel-#SPRAK!#
The bullet-proof glass Ikari Gendo was hidingstanding behind would have stopped a fifty-caliber round. As it was, the high-intensity laser passed right through it with enough energy left over to burn Gendo’s head off even before it started melting the transparent material.
Shinji lowered the small laser pistol he’d been concealing behind his back, as above, the lump of dead meat that had been his mother’s sperm-donor flopped backwards and out of sight. He turned around to raise an eyebrow at the pale faces and looks of sudden consternation at what he’d just done.
“You just ki-”
“Resisting arrest. I gave him fair warning.”
“YOU KILLED THE COMMANDER!”
”Yes, that’s been established. Now, if you’ll drop your own gun, Miss Katsuragi. I’m afraid you’re all under arrest until we finish sorting this thing out.”
As if on cue, several dozen armored shapes materialized (really, they were just dropping their thermal optical camouflage) around the people in the room, and leveled weapons on them. Sounds of distant scuffling in the shadows told of several Section-2 and other security personnel putting up a brief, but futile, resistance before they were neutralized.
The massive room rumbled with distant concussion.
“The Angel--” Doctor Akagi blanched as she looked up, the act of patricide she’d just witnessed temporarily forgotten in light of the bigger threat looming outside.
“-Just got taken out by the rest of my crew, as your observers will soon confirm.” Anti-Angel Reflex Missiles were brutally effective at their designed mission.
“What the hell is going on!?”
“Bastard King’s scenario ran into a scenario that unfolded first” Shinji offhandedly and vaguely explained as the armored soldiers led their prisoners away.
‘Yeah, like an abandoned child being picked up by a super-secret organization from another universe, raised and trained by an alien warlord as one of his own, enrolled in a junior ROTC-style special operations academy for prospective world-changers/conquerors, then shown in full gruesome detail what his biological father had in mind for him and the world, when they were ready to move to stop said louse and his circle of conspirators,’ Shinji mused as he contemplated Evangelion Unit One.
“Sorry to disappoint you, ‘mother’, but that little scenario you and him cooked up is just to have to be scrubbed. Oh, and you’re under arrest too. So expect to be handcuffed when we get you out of there.”
Shinji turned to follow his team and oversee the rest of the capture of NERV. Along with the follow-on campaign against SEELE, it was going to be a busy day for him. Then they’d turn their attention to setting REAL anti-Angel defenses for the planet.
‘Oh yeah, and tell that Langley girl that she’s no longer needed as a pilot. Hmmm...maybe I should just delegate that?’

 :ok: Smart man, our Shinji Mk2

Hmmm...
Here's a brain-bender.
Shinji as Alto
Kaji as Ozuma
Same set up as previous X-over *Grin*

Angel Vs. 'Dimension Eater' warheads. Should be fun :D
...only problem is Vajra would be the wildcards in this case, NOT Ausuka.

I'm figuring in this latest, that this is a non-UEsG-raised Shinji, though possibly related, while the 'Reflex weaponry' remark suggests some connection to Robotechnology, possibly other dimensions(maybe a private vigilante group acting on the fringes of the UEsG).

So I toss out the idea that Shinji in this case could have been raised by some badass, like a Klingon warlord, Doctor Doom, Not-So-Evil Overlord, or, my preference, an alternate Robotech worldline where KHYRON(!) is Shinji's adoptive father.

Even a 'kinder, gentler' Khyron would have a profound effect on a growing boy.

For one thing, they'd both have a thing for bluettes...

...and Shinji being completely non-plussed by Misato's driving...in fact:
Shinji:(in shotgun seat, addressing Rei in the backseat while Misato drives them home, with her usual vehicular homicide skill) "Bets on how many other cars we hit?"

  After starships, that would be fun for him.

Of course, a Shinji raised by Khyron has to have some minions he can trust to do various dirty jobs, and then dispose of, when he has to...
Fortunately there's Kensuke Aida...
