wow, i stop checking on the story here and i missed ALOT!
Sucks that Corey died, he was a good character, though i was surprised that on nat 20's you have bad things to them, it's usually 1's for me, but i guess everyone has their system. Glad that everyone here got you to continue (if it weren't for my own issues with life these days i would have also endorsed you writing on with someone else as the main character) I have a feeling Jeremy is going to be trouble after being rejected. But i guess the dice gods will reveal all. Great storytelling!!!! Keep up the great work!

Yeah break time's over, back to work, should have posted three entries to make up for missing the weekend
(incase people can't tell, that's a joke)
Seriously though, great story, the fact that they evolved is cool, also nice that the people to took the time to actually check how they got out, smart, they
might actually survive.
Although it's not like we can trust your dice, they don't care who they kill

There's a loud commotion outside right now. I can hear Jeremy yelling something about a boat floating in the water. I'd better go check and see what he's yelling about...
I'm VERY glad you didn't leave this "To Be Continued" on a Friday!
They better poke at that body with a VERY long pole. Also hope it's not Corey, we thought Lilly was distraught before........ wooooo...

Great... mutation by toxic waste. Heck, if i was one of the 3, i'd just try to go in a ready defensive stance and when they break thru.. *BANG!!!* right in the noggin! Nothing wrong in taking them with me if i'm gonna die.

Never said it was toxic waste. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that it isn't toxic waste. It's an idea I've had for a while now. You'll have to wait to see what it is.
At least i got you to sat it WASN'T toxic waste.
I'm looking forward to reading this idea of yours. For the record, i thought it was a bad idea for people to go down there, but i guess it had to be done. Don't need to be besieged in the dead (no pun intended) of the night.

If/when Lance finally goes, we've got to go back to the surface and give an updated report. We've been down here for too long, and we should get back up there. I'd like to keep exploring, but I may need some help. But I am dying to see what's in the room on the other side of the laundry area...
Dying may be the key word here..... Knew there would be something bad about that non-toxic slime! Still a great story, just hope the dice are kind enough to let Lilly live thru this.

Nice entry, but why are they waiting for him to turn ? They did that in RE2 as well. if I was there I'd be like sorry lance, but hey look on the bright side, you're dead anyway and this will ease the pain. "Jeremy do me a favour and grab the shotgun, err I mean camera, now Lance hold still and say cheese! BLAM! "
Seriously though, you know he's turning why wait and take a chance of you getting hurt, end the dude's suffering.

I do have to say though, Jeremy must be killed somehow. He's gonna seriously cause problems with his attitude or at the very least get someone killed. (hopefully himself.
)
So the zombies were an unwanted experiment (at least the mutations). I'm impressed, though i get the feeling you haven't told the whole story..... yet.
Though i have never seen the series this is starting to remind me of an episode of "Lost".

Yeah, Jeremy needs to die. Can't rely on HIM as the "future of the species"
As for Lilly, i'm glad she got Michael into it as he is a bit of a coward, but then you shouldn't suggest something if you're not going to do it. Served him right, but at least she gets to go back to the cave, hey she wanted to go in the first place. Michael can serve as a meat shield in case of trouble.

ok this is just a bad idea....I cant believe that they are doing this...
Also on the side of Jeremy.. I mean the guy may be a bit young but in a situation like this he should be considered an adult.. he is young strong and willing... also in areas not as well developed as the U.S. (which is what I would consider zombie world) youths reach man hood much earlier.. he should have the right to decide his own fate

This is rolling just like a horror movie. I keep saying to myself "how can they be so stupid?"
And the whole Lilly/Jeremy thing has me cracking up. My cousin just turned 18 and she has suddenly started referring to her friends that are a couple years younger as kids, even though for years she has been informing everyone that "she's not a little kid anymore.. you know". Ah youth.
Now, I haven't picked up dead reign yet, but can't the Zombie's just walk across the bottom of the lake, or do they need air to breathe? I know they are dead, but every zombie story has it's own rules.
One thing I have always wondered though irrespective of source. If you can kill a zombie with a head shot, where are all the zombies coming from if the other zombies are devouring them before they become zombies? Yeah, there will be the instances.. but on the whole, wouldn't zombie hunger destroy the victims ability to rise again?

See, i KNEW she was going to get killed going back into that mine!
Mike was so pathetic he was a lousy meat shield and what do you mean Lilly had to hobble? I thought her leg healed up ok?
Well if this is the end of the story i do have to say that it's been a GREAT run with Excellent storytelling!
(even if the dice gods were cruel)

I say Jeremy takes it..
If you keep at least 2-3 characters in the background at all time then you will always have a fall back...
I agree with the previous poster this is the Survivor's Journal...not a journal of one person in particular so keep it moving character to character...it makes it kinda more fun to me anyway...No one static viewpoint

I say introduce some more survivors to the island. And have them bring along a nice strong character to become the new center of the story. Just my opinion. Please don't make Jeremy the center.

they get her back up top then one by one people start disapearing

I really feel for Jeremy. Historically people were considered adults at a much younger age. As I recall, Achilles was 14 when the Trojan war started, and he was considered one of the greatest warriors. At 14 George Washington was leading survey expeditions into the wilderness for weeks at a time.
It's hard to act like an adult when nobody treats you like one, nor allows you to act like one. Yeah, he's still kind of dumb in his youth, but when the world gets crazy, you often need the young dumb crazies to lead the charge a bit.
As for the story... I think it's cool how you let dice determine the way many things turn out. However, in my favorite GM guide ever, there are two rules listed as greater than any others.
1) The GM is always right.
2) Cheat anyway.
Sometimes in a role-playing game the GM needs to cheat to keep the characters capable of continuing the story. The GM cheats in the players favor. You don't want to do this ALL the time, but sometimes it makes everything better. I think you could apply the same idea to your story. Keep letting the dice mostly determine things, but if you don't like it, cheat.
I'm not saying this to argue that you should bring Lilly back. Just to remind you it's ok to tweak things a bit if you really want to continue the story. If you decided to take back what the dice had happen to Lilly and keep her alive, nobody would complain. It's your story. Heck, you could have Jeremy suddenly rush down after them before the people up top can stop him, and he gets there just in time to help her escape.
If you like leaving the dice as the end all, be all, you can always write about other survivors elsewhere in the country.

I vote for #5. This way you can introduce a new character (maybe surviving military) and this character can have info on where he came from seeing as everyone on the island doesn't know anything since they got there. It would be nice to have some fresh new info from someone. Or maybe you can link this person with what the real purpose of that security/lab that was down in the caves.

Having personally broken my leg, I can say from experience that although the cast comes off, you still hobble/limp for a good period of time while you are getting used to walking without it again. Took me 2 months before I wasn't limping noticeable anymore. Lilly was in the same situation - her leg was healed, and she was moving about ok, but she would still have been limping for a bit.
Ah, just was wondering, as i've only fractured my toe (though the doc counted it as broken on my 26th birthday and never sprained a thing (SEVERELY lucky) i was just wondering.
[quote=Oh, and if anyone feels that any of this should be in actual print, by all means tell Kevin and Wayne, and then I'll possibly put this in book format.

I'd say start working on it, it really is a great story!

Hi,
Your ongoing story is the first place I check each day when I log on to the 'net when I get home from work. It's an amazing effort, and provides immence inspiration for me to get of my bum & finish writing the DR campaign for my group to play.
I'd be happy with any of the offered ideas (I know that you'd make them be just as addictive as all the previous parts of the story). 5 looks to make things interesting (and give the rest of the group some extra chance at surviving), so I'll go for that.
Andrew.
