First Ed AD&D. minor spells that wizards learned during their training as a precursor to first level spells. still useful at higher levels for mundane tasks like cleaning armor or lighting fires.
10 Geek Points to Kalinda for knowing what a "cantrip" was.

Unfortunately for Kainda, they're not even Level 1 Geek Points.......... :D

Come ON... that shouldn't even get 10 Geek points...
Geek points should be reserved for obscure knowledge.

Funny, I was just thinking that...

Is there REALLY such a thing as "obscure knowledge" anymore in these heady days of Google and Jeeves??

Hell, I did something a couple of weeks ago with Jaga Natha and several people came right up with the info....and I don't mean the "experts" on Gods usually present in these Forums like Svartalf, either.......

So if they are that powerful, how did they get put to sleep? And I will be looking for your post. Is it in the Rifts section?
They were put to sleep by a Series of Spells and Rituals SO powerful, it made even the Atlantis Super-Inter-Dimensional 10,000 Rift Nexus Attempt look like a mere cantrip -and THAT Spell knocked the entire EARTH off its Mystic Axis!!!

(10 Geek Points for the meaning of the "cantrip" reference.)

ANYHOO......

While this Spell was being cast/performed, with the Help of Thoth (Xy, the Great Old One, of all people), MILLIONS of Beings perished in the climactic Battles; THOUSANDS of entire Races perished in the process.

And even after all that, despite their best efforts (or so it is implied), the Combined Forces of Light AND the Former Servants of the Old Ones (which included Dragons, coincidentally) were unable to destroy the old Ones as they wished.....

Aww...you should know better than to think knowing what a cantrip is qualifies one for geek points. Geek points should be given for knowing things like the fact that the first version of D&D had 12th level spells, had staves that had 400 charges, starships, martians, and that Stormbringer only had a 50% chance to drain ANY levels upon hitting someone (and after that it was 25% to draining half and 25% to draining all levels), that there are five versions of the original Deities and Demigods book released by TSR (not counting Legends and Lore), or that the RPG Paranoia has been re-relased as a freebie on the net.

Do I get geek points for having not one, but TWO of the Rifts Movie shirts (one of them signed by KS)?

The signing was rather embarrassing. When I was a kid, before the silver spoon went away, I met many celebrities in our many sojourns to Vegas. I've never been the type to be starstruck...it just doesn't happen. If I meet one, I say hi and move on. Then I met KS...and acted like a complete idiot...my jaw dropped, blah de blah de blah...anyway, he signed a shirt for me. :)

Well, after all that I have heard on the Old Ones, it looks like even the choice I had come up with would have been very easily been walked all over (and no I am not going to name what I named, I am just acknalageing that the Old Ones would win, and I am not going to mention it again, so that I don't get me or anyone in trouble, I hope this is ok, the way I did it). I hope that Palladium comes up someone who can at least has a chance of winning in the near future.

Nope, try again.
