Haha. In Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (comp game) I saved another vampire by tricking the vamp hunter in to staking a live human. It was funny watching the hunter's reaction when he realized the dude whose heart he'd just impaled didn't "poof."

I use a combo of types. The Wild vamps I treat as vicious attack animals just slightly smarter than dogs. I often have them attack in packs. With Secondary blood-suckers I allow them to be the more thoughful kinds with distinct personalities... but by their very essence they're still evil as hell.

I play the wild vamps as blood crazed monsters/cunning pack animals, secondary vamps are played more like a thinking creature but still a predator who needs to feed, the MASTER vamp is the one I play as a Dracula type or more presicely the master is the calm, cold calculator that can explode into bloody violence at any moment. The VI and its familiar are usually not a concern in my games cause although the familiar is comparatively weak there is no way a "normal" party could beat a VI, although they could (and should) find help (lots of) to defeat it.
