EU's phase world game is still aggressively recruiting! Our newest group, the Star Runners, has three openings for new PCs, and I'd like to get those filled ASAP.

PFRPG: Edge of Confrontation is always accepting new players. My soft limit is ten players. I say soft because there is always someone coming or going that it never really seems to keep one solid number (unless I get a mass of dropouts then it's down to a solid 5-6).

It's a Palladium Fantasy game with a twist. You'll have to read the stories to get the twist, but the Prologue sets up things nicely.

Also, I tend to run autonomously from the rest of the Site (which is why he has me as Unknown). It's the 'do my own thing' attitude I guess.

If you're looking for a PFRPG game and don't mind PBP, swing on over. You can also PM me here or on the Otherworlds boards.

Oh, and I'm much nicer (and cooler) than that The Game Master guy. :D

Like many gamers, I put up with certain douchebags because they give good roleplay. Lonnie would be one of those, I'd recommend his game for its creativity if nothing else. If you like fantasy as much as I hate the crap, Lonnie's game may just be for you.

I have been looking at your site and am thinking of joining, but have a couple of questions. Where exactly is this Merc Town located? Also, I read that it is strictly a North America rifts setting. If I made a character with a Japan power armor for example, if I came up with a good story about how it got to North America would that be allowed? Lastly, would you allow character backgrounds created with the Central Casting Hero's for Tomorrow book?

There are three campaign settings for Rifts on EU.

1) North America: This campaign setting is the largest by a huge factor and centers around MercTown, a canonical city built on the ruins of Paducah, Kentucky which is dedicated to the support of Mercenaries and their trade. There are currently eleven different groups to join, all groups play together after a fashion, and there are well over one-hundred players involved as well as a dozen or so GMs and about as many Moderators and NPCs.

2) Eurasia: This campaign is brand new and still forming but will center around a very unconventional NGR special operations team and their adventures.

3) Japan: I'm not entirely certain what is the focus of this group of misfit adventurers, but they seem to be having a good time.

Each campaign setting is STAND ALONE. Ergo, if you have a character in Japan you cannot bring that character to the North America setting.

As to any other questions you might have, I'd recommend you follow these links:

Well, the Eurasia campaign sounds fun, but I was thinking of playing an NGR intelligence commando (sniper). He was captured by Brodkil and traded to Mindwerks for experimentation. There he was converted into an experimental full conversion 'borg and released. He wants nothing more than to kill Brodkil for what they did to him.

Anyway, after reading your catchall thread on EU, it sounds like you are looking for exclusively non-human characters, so I guess an intelligence commando would not work. I don't really see anything else in the NGR book that looks too interesting (not into gypsies). Guess I should just make a headhunter for Merc Town. Besides, there isn't a single damn good sniper rifle in the book. I thought I remembered NGR having better weapons than what I saw skimming it last night.

Figured that I should get my butt onto these boards, rather than relying on everyone else. ;)

This game is still accepting players. We are currently at 3 open slots again, but we are also keeping a waiting list for, if we happen to get enough interest.

We are currently running with 3 GMs, which will allow us to play with 18 players in total. If things go well, and we continue to get interest, we may even expand this further.

This is the biggest game of Heroes Unlimited that EU has ever seen, and we are excited to see where the game goes.

If you have any questions, you can get ahold of Al, or myself through YIM @ akg1206

Hope to hear from you.

If you haven't checked this out, then what are you waiting for. This is an excellent PbP for Rifts and other Palladium games. Hopefully we will be able to get another Dead Reign game before too long. Tons of fun so come and check it out. I play as Domingo, a mind controlling, TK wielding Mind melter. Just remember to read over the rules and must reads before you start.

A new group has arrived in MercTown. Comitatus Security Group has decided to make another team in their roster and are looking for highly qualified individuals who are willing to work as security for individuals, companies, and/or nations. Provide excellent pay and have an excellent reputation. We have only lost 1 client and we aim to keep it that way.

Talk to Drifter (That's me folks) and/or The Game Master (That's the big boss) for information and/or character ideas and submissions.

To all who know her, Trigypsy36 was involved in a major auto accident today, the hospital has her in surgery as of the latest news I have been given, I would ask that those who know her pray for her.

I will keep the board updated as I get word.

Luckluster, your problem has been addressed, hit-up the site GMs on IM.

On a sad note, one of EU's longest-standing players--FAITH BROWN--has passed away.

Rest In Peace, Faith. Natasha will live on as an NPC in MercTown in your memory.

Wow, 2 classes every other level. I don't play DnD (not since 2nd Edition anyway) so maybe I read this wrong...but that means a 4th level character would have 4 classes, a 6th level character would have 6 classes ect? I would think at some point you would run out of classes.

I do have one general question about DD though. Normally before I decide to join a game, I usually lurk for a while before creating an account. When I go to DD however, all I can see is the Rules and Out of Character Topics thread. There isn't even a list of what games are running, much less a way to check them out before joining. And it seems wasteful to me to create an account just so I can lurk. I would suggest opening up the threads so people can see what games are running and read what I am sure are awesome adventures going on over there. Do that and I think you will have better luck recruiting. Saying "come check us out" when there is nothing to check out isn't going to get you very far. Just my two cents. :)

I agree. I've been a bit curious about the games on DD, but not so much so that it was worth creating an account.

Ha! You're the librarian, you tell us. I did find this though:

Dictionary.com wrote:Tertiate

Ter"ti*ate\, v. t. [L. tertiatus, p. p. of tertiare to do for the third time, fr. tertius the third.]
1. To do or perform for the third time.

In any case, it sounds better than "Thirded". :)

Otherworlds is reserved for all Palladium games aside from Rifts, which is run out of the main EU site.
To answer your question, there is currently a N&SS game here, however as the group is at full capacity they are accepting wait list reservations only.
As for Mystic China stuff/Infernals, you'd need to talk to the GM about that, but I'd guess that Infernals aren't allowed as PCs.

A Warkawk Magazine exclusive…
by Hugh Strickland, Warhawk Magazine reporter.

Warhawk Magazine reporter Hugh Strickland gives you a sneak peek into the walled compound of the Coalition States 110th Special Operations Group, and an interview with their commanding officer, Brigadier General Derrick Floyd...

Some of you may have noticed the walled compound just outside of town near the airport. Some of you may have been awoken in the middle of the night by Death Head transports flying over the town. And we’re sure most of you have been wondering…why has the CS come to Merctown? Well, Hugh Strickland has the answers! He was recently given a special, all access tour of the new CS facility and had a chance to talk with the commander of the base.

Upon arriving at the gates to the compound, the first thing you notice, or at least the first thing I noticed, were the four skelebot guards manning the entrance. With laser rifles in hand, and unwavering attention to detail, they prove to be an intimidating gate guard. They cannot be bargained or reasoned with in the slightest. If your name isn’t on the short list, you don’t get in, simple as that. Anyone thinking of talking their way past the guard here had best think again. Luckily for me, I happened to be on the list, as I had scheduled the tour and interview earlier in the week. Once I was cleared for entrance, another pair of skelebots escorted me to the main building where a refreshingly human receptionist greeted me at the door.

The inside of the office was Spartan in its luxury, reminding me (as if I needed such) that this was truly a CS military base. Sitting on the couch in the waiting room I see several back issues of Warhawk Magazine on the coffee table, a CS flag standing vigilant in the corner, and a poster of Emperor Prosek on the wall behind the reception desk. Other than that, the room is bare. I don’t wait long before an automatic door slides open and General Floyd is entering the room. He is an imposing man, but actually shorter than I thought he would be. He has close cut hair and a firm handshake, and radiates the persona of a high ranking CS officer. He strikes me as a no nonsense commander who is used to getting the results he desires from his troops. Following him down the hallway, he leads me deeper into facility and the tour begins.

There are seven main buildings within the compound. The first building and closest to the gates is the administration and barracks building. It houses all of the CS troops stationed in Merctown (well, all of the live ones anyway, but more on that later) and has exercise, recreation and cafeteria facilities. It is much like military barracks the world over, I suspect. There is room for approximately 300 troops and support staff in the barracks, only about half of which are occupied. The building also houses a state of the art communications and tactical planning facility, or at least the general said it does. He did not show me these areas. Leading me out another door I find myself once again outside in about the middle of the base. I will describe each of the other 6 buildings on base in the order we visited them.

The second building we went to was the medical facility. While not as large as Merctown State Hospital, it is every bit as modern. There are about 30 or so beds, 3 operating rooms, and a full cybernetic and bionics facility. The next building we went to is the hangar. It is a huge building and again, a state of the art facility. I can see several SAMAS units, two Spider Scout Walkers, a Glitter Boy killer and several other sets of robots and power armors in various states of repair. Most notably is one of the Spider Scouts which looks like it’s seen better days. I can see rail gun pockmarks and laser scorch marks on its legs and body. The back half of the body has been completely disassembled and I can see several technicians in radiation suits inside the robot walker.

The fourth building we visit is the power plant. As power plants go, this one isn’t very interesting. It’s your run of the mill fusion reactor with all the standard fail safes. The next building we visit is on the opposite side of the compound and is almost as large as the hangar. This is the skelebot facility. This is where skelebots are stored and maintained. I couldn’t even begin to guess how many there were. While most of them were the old style skelebots, I did see some of the newer versions as well.

If you’re counting buildings, you’ll notice I mentioned that there were seven main buildings on the base, but I only described five of them. There is a reason for that. The sixth building is a detention facility, which the general flat out refused to show me, for “security reasons”. The seventh is a small building made out of what appears to be plate armor. It isn’t quite square, and looks like it could fall down at any time. When I asked the general about that one he simply chuckled and explained that their resident EOD tech build the “shack” as he called it himself. Apparently this made the general and most of the other troops on base much more comfortable. Indeed this “shack” is located in the approximate middle of the compound, as far away from all the other buildings as possible.

Once the brief tour was over, I sat down with the general in his office for the interview…

Warhawk Magazine: Well general, thank you for the tour. It was very informative. I suppose I’ll start with the most obvious question most people want to know. Why has the CS come to Merctown?

General Floyd: Well Hugh, as a reporter for Warhawk, you can probably come up with more interesting reasons for that than I can. For me personally, the answer is simple…I was ordered here. But that’s not really what you were asking. The CS decided to set up shop here for a few reasons, most of which I cannot name, except for one. This facility serves as a forward outpost for our continuing operations in the magic zone. One thing I can tell you though, is that the CS has no plans to take over or otherwise invade or interfere in Merctown in any way.

WM: Ah, well that’s good to know. OK, next question. You have a truly impressive facility here, especially the hangar. But why is it so empty right now?

GF: One of our special operations units is currently forward deployed. They took a number of the power armor units with them.

WM: Any chance you’ll say where they’re operating right now.

GF: (smiling) Not a chance in hell.

WM: Fair enough. What about that spider scout? It looks like it’s seen some action.

GF: Yeah, it took a couple of pretty good hits on its last mission. The reactor developed a small coolant leak. Nothing too major, but the problem is that the reactor is buried so damn deep in the thing you have to practically disassemble the whole thing to even get at it. Or at least that’s what the techs tell me.

WM: How about that shack out in the middle of nowhere? How come we couldn’t go in there.

GF: (laughing) Ford’s shack? Ha, ha! No one goes in there except Ford. I don’t even go in there. He’s our EOD tech. He likes to tinker with explosives. When he asked for some spare armor plate to build his own workshop the techs were happy to give it to him. It was that or he tinker around in the hangar, and nobody wanted that. So he built his own workshop. Of course he blew his hand off the next day, which just proved what a good idea the shack was in the first place.

WM: He blew his hand off!?!

GF: Yeah. (shrugging) We got him a new one. He’s had several other replacements since then. I fully expect him to have to go full conversion before the year is out.

WM: Uh, OK. Well, I’d like to go back to something you said earlier. You said that the CS has no plans to take over or otherwise invade or interfere in Merctown in any way. But a few weeks ago eyewitnesses clearly saw a Death’s Head transport dropping troops off on the other side of the river where a firefight ensued. Care to elaborate on that?

GF: Sure, I can, but you said it yourself. We dropped troops on the other side of the river…outside of Merctown. We had recently received intel that a deeb, er, a uh, being of interest had acquired and was preparing to sell stolen CS small arms. We acted on that intel, captured the thief, and recovered the stolen arms. Simple as that.

WM: Shouldn’t that have been a job for the Merctown Defenders?

GF: I suppose they could have probably taken care of it. But the CS takes arms smuggling very seriously. And like I said before, we were operating outside the walls of Merctown and well within our rights to enforce our anti-smuggling laws. We did, however, let the defenders know that we were going to be operating in the area. We usually try to give them a heads up when something like this is going down, just so there are no misunderstandings.

WM: And what about the rumors that CS operatives recently abducted a mage from the Sphinx and Unicorn tavern in the Mystic Quarter?

GF: Heh. First I’ve heard of it.

WM: Really? Do you allow your troops access to Merctown?

GF: Sure, when they’re not on duty, they’re free to go to town. I don’t think any of them frequent the Mystic Quarter though.

WM: And why couldn’t we see the inside of the detention facility then? If you didn’t capture a mage it should be empty right?

GF: It might be empty, or it might not. (smiling again) Either way, that’s not why it’s off limits. The last thing I want to see is a detailed report in Warhawk about all the security features of our detention facility. I’m sure you can understand that.

WM: Of course general. One last question if you don’t mind. You seem to have a fairly large contingent of skelebots on hand. Any special reason for that?

GF: Actually, they’re mostly for support. It’s something new the CS high command wanted to try out, which is why we have so many old style bots instead of the new ones. It’s part of what we learned in Tolkien. We’ve found it’s better to have actual people on the ground out in the field. Where a person can interpret and alter the plan if necessary, a skelebot only knows what you tell it and follows its pre-programmed objectives. People can adapt to new circumstances much faster than a skelebot. So we use the skelebots here on base to do a lot of the grunt work and heavy lifting, security and other things like that. That frees up our personnel to handle the more difficult tasks out in the field. It’s sort of a pilot program we have going on.

WM: Sounds interesting. Well, thank you for your time general.

GF: Always a pleasure Hugh. Take care.

Editor's Note: Although we tried, the CS simply would not allow us to bring a cameraman for our interview.

And my YIM is kmspade1. :) Pretty simple, right?

Anyway, Kagatos, I got your PM and responded. But to sum up...

1) Read the site rules
2) Send me a character concept/background
3) Get in touch with me via YIM and we can discuss character creation

Oh, and you have to be able to post at least one in character post per week. That's the bare minimum. (More is encouraged and rewarded with XP.)

Look forward to hearing from you soon! :D

Well I was interested in playing but I see that gmail addresses are banned? Really? Because I've not heard that the spambots are all using gmail. All I have are free e-mail addresses, because I won't be using my work e-mail for this. My ISP does not provide e-mail addresses.

I believe the post up-thread referencing the gmail ban is out of date. After an upgrade to the boards awhile back, spambots stopped being much of an issue, and so far as I know the gmail ban has been reversed. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could please let us know if that is not the case.

Hotmail and Yahoo addresses work just fine. I haven't used a Gmail one in ages, but the other two are free and non-work and easy to set up.
