Dairugger XV wrote:That makes more sense, but it still begs the question: How did it get there, and would the capabilities compare in such a way as to genuinely justify the description? (Honestly I've not done anything to figure out how justified the description would be for Battletech, but my gut says it is still too lopsided a description to be a reasonable representation of a fight between the two.) The scene just begs a lot of questions in my mind, and I'm fairly certain it was written without understanding of how Exia works, because even by the description Exia still would have gotten away.
Exia Repair shows that even with a heavily damaged body Exia still has fully functional flight. Anyway, I'm including a version of what you did in what I'm currently writing up, just having Dynames interrupt and the Exia not get quite as damaged.
well I know it might be an "unbalanced" conversion but the battletech units in general are slower, but make up for it with having a lot more armor

Dana was going a bit crazy, she was trapped inside a machine, and if the monitors were right, she was airborne. Dana started punching at the blue-suited pilot, “Let me off! I’m gonna die flying! Let me off, now!”
The man just calmly said, “I will let you off if you want, right now. However, if I open the cockpit you will plummet to your death.”
Dana recoiled in horror and started hyperventilating before curling up in a corner and starting to cry. Meanwhile, the machine shook a bit as it took a hit. Setsuna F. Seiei scanned the area and noted that several mobile suits and, oddly, a green Alpha had launched from the space elevator he was flying up besides. Setsuna just shifted into a battle stance, “They are here, right on schedule.”
Setsuna had Exia engage the incoming Suits and easily destroyed the Hellions that were launched. The Alpha was proving a much more difficult target to tangle with. For whatever reason, likely the fact that one of the Sterling children was known to be on Exia, the Alpha was not going for the kill and seemed focused on Exia’s limbs. The shots from the gunpod were annoying but not exceptionally damaging. It was the missiles that could be dangerous, and he was shooting more of them down with the GN Vulcan. A spiral of missiles was launched and two manage to connect to the right leg that had taken most of the gunpod hits. Exia’s alarms went off acknowledging that the leg was taking heavy damage.
Setsuna could hear Dana freaking out even more and calmly told his partner, “I could use some help here.”
“Roger. Targeted and firing!” Lockon Stratos said with a certain level of glee in his voice. The beam that launched from Dynames’ sniper rifle took out the engines both legs (though the legs themselves remained largely intact) of the Alpha sending it into a downward spiral, but auxiliary thrusters kept it a float. Lockon decided that it would be better to simply leave, according to Veda there would be no further obstacles to Exia leaving and reaching the rendezvous point unmolested. Hopefully he would be smart enough to drop the girl off somewhere before reaching the rendezvous.
*********************************************
Setsuna was not that smart, though given that Dana was still in a near catatonic state, she could still be dropped off somewhere and not be able to give up any real intelligence. Lockon shook his head, “I know she is important not to have killed because of our actions, but you should have dropped her off some place relatively safe before coming here.”
Meanwhile, Ian was furious, “How could you let something do this much damage to a Gundam? This is going to take a week to repair at least!”
Sumeragi Lee Noriegra was over the comm channels, “It doesn’t matter now. Veda is categorizing this incident as a happy mistake. While we cannot include her as a Gundam Meister, data suggests that we can use Dana Sterling as an agent of Celestial Being, her psych profile indicates that she is in fact less accepting of having to kill other beings in the name of war than nearly any of her other siblings. When she calms down, we’ll have a talk with her and start the training and integration into Celestial Being. As for the ‘mech in question, it is something colonial, according to Veda. Something called a Battlemech, specifically a Land-Air Mech that focuses on firepower and armor over maneuverability. We’re already identifying weaknesses to exploit should we fight those machines again.”
Ian sneered, “So these battlemechs have enough firepower to serious hurt a Gundam if successful at getting a solid hit in? I’ll get to work on making sure the GN Arms systems are fully ready, we’ll need those sooner than we want to reveal them.”
*******************************************
Dana walked into a police station and looked about, she remembered what Lockon had told her about not saying too much and thought it would be fun to have something over her siblings even if she couldn’t reveal it for probably years. It took the cops a short amount of time to verify her identity, get her story and contact her parents. It’s just a short while before a tall, blue-green haired woman came in the door.
Nova Satori glared down at Dana, “You’re hiding something. What do you really know?”
Dana looked up at the woman. Nova was dressed in an academy uniform with a cadet rank insignia, she was probably interning at this station to get a better feel for law enforcement. Dana sighed, “I have no idea where they are currently hiding, and even if I did, I would owe them the favor of not saying anything because they saved my life.”
Nova snorted, “Fair enough, and you were the victim and the daughter of a high profile family. I doubt anyone would prosecute you for not saying anything and you weren’t there long enough for Stockholm Syndrome to take effect. However, I am going to keep an eye on you.”
Dana grinned, “I don’t swing that way.”
Nova gave an arrogant smile, “Cute, just don’t go cozying up to this Celestial Being. I would rather not have to deal with having to treat one of the Sterling daughters as a spy.”
Just then Rolf Emerson walked through the door returned Nova’s salute, and looked at Dana, “I’ll be taking you back home now. Your family was worried sick, and Bowie didn’t take the news much better.”
Dana frowned, “It’s not like I wanted to make people worry.”
Rolf just shook his head, “No, it wasn’t your fault just don’t be surprised if you get smothered when you get back home.”
Dana’s face twisted, “That’ll be an interesting change of pace.”
Nicely done in combining the 2. Really loving the read.

The comedic focus is more for the Blooper one, anyways. And I think they already came across at least one good Gendo, or was that just Edward?

Max sunk back in his chair, “For once, that’s what is going smoothly. There is a militant group called Celestial Being raising all sorts of ruckus and every other day the UEG gets called to the floor by the super powers to answer why we haven’t shut them down yet. Sadly, I think I’m beginning to root for CB.”
Rick’s face twisted, “The terrorists may be right in whatever point they are trying to make, but they are still terrorists.”
Max adjusted his glasses, “They also saved Dana’s life.”
Rick went completely wide-eyed, “Wait, what? How did that happen?”
Max explained as much of the story as he knew, “I think she is holding out on us on a few details, but I don’t think those details are coming regardless.”
Rick nodded, “So how is she other than that?”
“Her fear of flying is just as strong as ever, and as such she absolutely refuses to see the Macross 7 much less get on board. Fortunately, Komillia has already entered the academy, Dana is being scouted by both the ASC and the Union, so it’s not like she’ll go without a means to support herself. Still, it’s killing Miriya that the family is being forced to split up. She couches it in military terms, but she really doesn’t want her babies to grow up like a lot of mothers. Speaking of, how is Lisa holding up?”
Rick rubbed his temples, “Lisa is throwing herself into her work, and the doctors have officially called her barren after the last miscarriage. She’s also in the other room. Anyway, I thought the ASC was a group of xenophobes that hated the Zentraedi?”
Max shrugged, “So did I. Then Leonard personally rounded up and executed members of Blue Cosmos for their attack on Zentraedi town. Judging by his rhetoric he’s more of a General Ripper type. He prefers the absolute destruction of anyone that threatens Earth or her people, but if a group decides it’s not going to be a threat anymore, and proves it, he stops seeking their destruction. He’s a confusing man.”
“He probably wonders why his ASC is so understaffed.”
“It also looks like the ASC is going to be dissolved anyway in favor of just letting the superpowers defend the planet from the ground.”
“So much for a united Earth.”
*****************************************************
Dana and Komillia were walking through a mall when they found a recruiter’s office. Komillia was in her UN Spacy Cadet uniform as she was required to be, and pointed to the recruiter’s office, “So made a decision yet? Or do you think you’ll make it in the civilian world?”
Dana huffed, “I’ll probably go Union, better pay, no requirement to go airborne without being sedated, and their hover tanks don’t have open cockpits.”
Komillia scratched her chin, “That still seems like it would be limiting your career.”
Dana rolled her eyes, “Can we talk about ANYTHING else?”
Komillia giggled, “Sorry, sorry, but I’m about to be the only family you got left, and I’m going to be busy with my own career.”
Dana chuckled, “Still flying VF-1 Trainers?”
Komillia fumed, “Don’t remind me. We got VF-11’s, VF-2’s in service and who knows what else in development, and I can’t even look at them without an instructor jumping down my throat.”
Dana smirked, “All not well in the land of make believe?”
Komillia, “No, but we have an interesting exhibit to get to.”
Dana attempted to protest but her sister already had her by the arm and was in full sprint. They arrived and the usual expected faces were there, but there was one she was caught off guard seeing, and she greeted him without thinking, “Hey, Setsuna.”
Dana immediately kicked herself mentally, but Komillia let the initial surprise flash across her face before looking over to Setsuna, “You two know each other.”
Dana’s mind scrambled for an explanation, but Setsuna just calmly answered, “Yes, we met when Celestial Being released her and I helped her to the police station.”
Dana was shocked how non-chalant he was being about this, “Yes, well. I still have to thank you about that. So, what brings you here?”
Setsuna pointed to the giant ring, “Some sort of teleportation device is being exhibited, and it caught my interest.”
Dana frowned, of course someone from CB would be here and, being out in the mall’s parking garage, she spotted the truck that was probably hiding Exia. What was extra amusing was that the truck was right next to Graham’s Flag, and a few ASC and UN Spacy mecha. Billy Kitagari slipped up behind Dana, “Looks like this little experiment of Dr. Winnicot’s has a lot of people’s attention.”
Komillia looked at Billy, “So what exactly is this thing going to do today?”
Billy shrugged, “Supposedly it will open a wormhole to the moon, allowing space travel without space flight.”
Dana smiled, “Finally, some good news.”
There was the traditional speech and start up when the device started and red lashes of energy stretched forth and people struck with the energy simply vanished. There was panic and a bunch of people tried going every which way. Graham in his Flag attempted to get people out in an orderly fashion when he himself was struck by the energy, and he and his Flag disappeared. The other mecha were right behind, but without their pilots, Setsuna had gotten the Sterling sisters into the truck with him when the beam struck the truck.
When reality faded back, everyone that had been struck with the red energy found themselves on the shore of someplace. The area around them was filled with rubble, and there were about 15 people that were in this world sitting next to a VF-11, Realdo Hovertank and Graham’s Flag. People were still trying to figure out where they were when a single question momentarily quelled the mild panic, and induced greater panic.
Komillia pointed out over the ocean, “Why is the ocean blood red?”
Dana commented after the panic had resumed, “And why was something like that device at a mall?”
Love the write up! Had to laugh a little at the end. But ya, shouldn't they be testing it at a secure lab, or were they past that part and ready to show the world? And to bad about Lisa.

Dairugger XV wrote:The panic continued even as Graham tried to calm people down, there was a city about two miles west, but it rough and mountainous terrain, and that truck would be useful in getting people over to it so they can figure out what was happening and where exactly they were. Also, his Flag was not getting any energy transmissions from a nearby orbital elevator, so they were definitely not in Union territory at minimum. Moreover, there was no one responding on any of the frequencies he was transmitting on, though there was comm traffic. That traffic was in Japanese, so they were still on Earth, but what was confusing was Japan was part of the Union, so they should be responding to his transmissions, and there should be an orbital tower nearby.
Graham didn’t have much time to think when a red snake-like thing that was at least three times as tall as a typical Zentraedi and had some sort of pink tendrils came crashing on to the shore. It immediately wiped out most of the civilians. The truck driver took off, though the Sterling sisters had jumped off and ran toward the Realdo Hovertank and VF-11 Thunderbolt. Graham gritted his teeth, he didn’t like the idea of a pair of 13 year old girls as his back up. Lack of training aside, they were 13 and should be worried more about teenager things and not about surviving in a fight.
Once the two had their machines powered up, Graham sent a signal out two the two, “Cadets Sterling, you are not combat pilots. You are to only provide cover fire for the fleeing survivors. I am taking command and will take full responsibility for your actions here. Do not make me regret letting you take those two mecha. Understood?”
A simultaneous, “Yes, sir,” was heard over the channel. Komillia followed it with, “Cadets? Dana, did you-?”
Dana yelled at her own sister, “Not now, Komi!”
The red beast approached and Graham open fired with the linear rifle. It had no effect, and whenever the beast got too close to the civilians the Sterlings would get between the beast and civilians and opened fire. Their own shots and missiles have the same effect as Graham’s own. The firing continued until one of the pink tendrils nearly struck the civilians. Dana got the Realdo in the way just in time and the E-Carbon armor on the Realdo managed to survive the hit, though it probably couldn’t take another hit to the same area.
Graham decided to try something, he switched his Flag into flight mode and flew as fast as he could to the red beast. He performed the “Graham Special,” a manual mid-air transformation that put the Flag’s sonic blade pointed right at the beast red jewel-like organ with all the momentum he gained from flight mode at full burst. Suddenly, he could see a hexagon-shaped energy field between himself and his target. At least now he understood why he couldn’t harm this thing. It had a force field that could take more damage than he could dish out.
As he fell away, he saw several pink energy blasts strike at the shield. A Gundam was here. What was more surprising than that was the fact that the Gundam’s particle beam partially penetrated the shield. What got through didn’t really do anything, but the beam was working. The Gundam, once it got close enough, switched over to his natural preference for fighting with swords, which themselves were still having more effect than anything the rest of them were doing. Graham heard Dana over the channel and realized that he wasn’t the only one to notice, “Gundam pixie dust is doing more than we can? That’s just not fair!”
Graham couldn’t help but fixate on that, he was already in awe of just how much more powerful the Gundams were to nearly any machine he had encountered to that point. Sure battlemechs had a similar, if not greater degree of firepower and overall better armor, but the battlemechs sacrificed speed, mobility and heat efficiency to do that. The Gundams got a significant boost without those sacrifices. Graham couldn’t help but feel almost infatuated with the machines.
A purple mecha dropped from some sort of aerial platform and engaged the red beast. The pilot was clearly inexperienced, and not well trained, but his machine was effective against the beast and even, after a full minute of fighting, managed to stick a knife into the red organ Graham had tried to attack earlier, and seemed to kill the thing. However, the machine stopped moving immediately afterward. Graham helped extract the pilot of the machine and saw the pilot was a 14 year old boy. Graham’s normally hot blood ran ice cold.
****************************************************
Gendo hit the floor hard, and when Captain Katsuragi tried to restrain Graham after he decked Gendo, she found herself on the floor first by Graham throwing her and then by Cadet Satori, who had been among the survivors, pinning her down. Graham looked back at this Commander, “You corwards! You put children on the front lines! Adults should lay down their lives for kids! Not the other way around!”
Gendo got himself up and adjusted his cracked glasses a blood ran from his nose and mouth, “I fail to see how what we do is any different than what you did.”
Graham’s face would get even sterner, but at this point that was impossible, his face was expressing all the rage a human face could express, “That was an emergency situation and they were to solely get the civilians out of the way. Normally, those girls would have 4 years of training at the academy and 2 years in a garrison unit before they would even be considered for front line service.”
Dr. Akagi cleared her throat, “Yes, well, our mecha, the Evangelions, require special attributes and those attributes have only been found in children so far.”
Nova interrupted even as she was holding Misato down, “It is still considered a war crime to use those under the age of majority, which in our world is 16, in combat situations. I expect Lt. Aker will face charges for allowing the cadets to take to the battlefield in mecha when we return. Though I doubt those rules are applicable here, I highly doubt our governments will be accepting of a world that does engage in such practices as an ally.”
Misato finally forced Nova off of her, “So you’re saying your entire planet, which faced its own extinction, isn’t going to be angry with us doing something unsavory in order to survive?”
Nova got up, ready to engage the older Misato in hand to hand if it came to it, “That’s right. So, my advice to Lt. Aker is to withdraw from this meeting and find some place where we can look for a way home without having to engage with this world.”
Graham nodded and the cadets that came with him followed him out. Once they were where surveillance was thinnest, Graham stated coldly, “We are finding the Gundam pilot and making sure a truce is called. I know there are going to be objections.”
Nova interrupted, “No, sir. This is probably the soundest plan we can have right now. There are 150 kinds of shady going on in this world, especially with this NERV. Comparatively, Celestial Being, while a criminal organization, is the preferable ally.”
Graham smiled, “I believe we all know someone that the Gundam pilot is likely to at least talk to.”
Dana sighed, “Great, make the least diplomatic one here the diplomat.”
(E-Carbon armor is supposedly some variation of carbon armor that is 20 times stronger than carbon nanotubes. Whacky science aside, grunt Mobile Suits from Gundam 00 have very good armor. Also, GN Particles, in high enough quantity, induce telepathy. Telepathy in Evangelion can only happen by weakening/breaking down the AT Fields between two individuals (at least, that is one common interpretation on how it could work, and is based on certain Angel’s mental attacks). Ergo, GN Particles can pierce AT Fields. There just needs to be a lot more of them than Exia can produce right now to have a meaningful effect beyond the realization that they do have an effect.)
Really enjoying this! Keep it up!

Dairugger XV wrote:Dana muttered under her breath, she did not look forward to trying to convince Setsuna that teaming up with the military was a good idea on this one. However, as she was approaching the Gundam, she heard him talking to someone that sounded a lot like Lockon. Dana suddenly felt very confused and wondered if even more of Celestial Being was in this universe.
Setsuna noticed her coming and poked his nose out, “What is it?”
“The Union Officer that came to this universe with us wants Celestial Being’s help putting an end to the use of children as warriors that Nerv is doing,” Dana said flatly.
Setsuna said nothing, and his expression did not change. Dana had already picked up on the fact that Setsuna himself was probably a child soldier at one point and hated the idea even more than Graham did. The fact that he was not showing anything bothered her.
Lockon was heard over the communications equipment, “There’s not a lot we can do about it. We have almost no information on what is going on over there, and we are still puzzling out how Setsuna is able to communicate with us.”
Dana kicked the ground and twisted her face, then shot up with an idea, “Yet, you CAN communicate.”
Setsuna asked in his usual monotone way, “What are you getting at?”
Dana smiled an almost evil smile, “Celestial Being would have no problem with a police action and kidnapping if it minimized the possibility of armed conflict later?”
Setsuna went back into his Gundam, “We should have recruited you as a backup tactical forecaster.”
****************************************
Nova’s head hurt. Dana’s plan was insane, but it would work out better for everyone involved if it worked at all. Graham was laughing with a mix of amusement and a bit of pride that his recruit was showing such cunning.
Nova took in a deep breath, “So the short of it is that this boils down to a black ops mission that tries to avoid all the nastiness involved with such ops? We kidnap the current pilots, get GMP units into the Nerv complex where they collect evidence and then arrest Nerv’s top brass when we have enough to have them shut down permanently and in such a way the local government is going to go along with it?”
Dana nodded, clearly proud of herself, “Yes, and we work out ways to deal with these angels that doesn’t involve child soldiers. We just need whoever built that teleporter device to make a stable connection between the two.”
Komillia clearly felt exhausted, “You know we can’t guarantee anyone is going to go along with this plan right?”
Graham patted Dana on the back, “I’m willing to be that the Union will go along with it. We have a habit of interfering with other nations over stuff like this.”
Nova remained unamused, “That’s not how the rest of the world sees it.”
Graham shrugged, “Still we may get some more intel on Celestial Being this way and gain support from another world. This could be a mutual win for all sides.”
Nova gave her best disapproving face, “This is gonna take months if not years to pull off.”
Dana scratched the back of her head, “Yeah, it’s a long haul exercise, but it’s still worth it.”
Nova sighed, “Well, if nothing else, it gets us home rather than stuck here.”
Almost as if on cue, a red portal opened up and a GMP officer stepped through, “I’m trying to make contact with a Lt. Aker.”
************************************************
The next couple months were intense. Graham got a formal slap on the wrist for allowing Dana and Komillia, and then got a promotion and put in charge of the Union’s own armed intervention unit. Apparently, members of the UEG put support behind Celestial Being as a sort of unofficial peacekeeping unit. While the Overflags were ostensibly the Union’s own counterpart to CB, the reality was they were ultimately intended as an anti-Gundam unit.
The Macross 7 fleet launched with all the glory involved, and the Sterling had one big get together before most of it left for deep space. A bunch of terrorists tried to make a statement at the launch by having some old VF-1s kill the command staff of the fleet, but the Sterlings managed to get into the VF-10s that they had nearby and put an end to that before anyone else could intervene.
Dana had been transferred to a tactical forecaster training program and was receiving occasional classes in intelligence operations. She was also given aggressive psychological treatments for her fear of flying; apparently, the Union had plans for her that required her to potentially getting into a flying machine. Her field exercises often took place at a certain school in another universe in a city called Tokyo III. There Dana, Sylvie and Nova basically got to know the Nerv children and gathered what intelligence they could from that end. Despite being a year older than her, Shinji ended up being something of a little brother to a rather aggressive Dana. Dana would see to it that Shinji grew a spine.
***********************************************
Nova was looking over a news report in front of the Tokyo-3 school and was twisting her nose, “Really, a joint live-fire exercise? That was just an excuse to try and destroy the Gundams.”
Asuka stood over Nova, “I don’t see what the big deal is, the Gundams survived, didn’t they?”
Nova sighed, “For someone with supposed college degrees-“ Asuka let out a yell of disapproval when Nova said that, only to have her legs literally kicked out from under her by Nova. “As I was saying, political concerns aside there are a few things that make me uneasy about this. The first is that even with all the mecha there, to include some UEEF Alphas, the Gundams got away exhausted and not seriously damaged. The only damage they took was from the Battlemechs there, and even then Celestial Being made sure to take them out with these flying docking stations.”
Dana interjected, “They are called GN Arms.”
Nova nodded wearily, “Thank you, miss CB ambassador. So, yes, only the Battlemechs had the raw firepower to do any sort of damage at all. Secondly, the three superpowers worked together to get something done.”
Sylvie frowned, “Which means Nova and I will be looking for work if they decide that the UEG as it is no good and decide to create their own global government. It would also put the Expeditionary Forces and colony fleets in awkward position as they report to the UEG, and not whatever the super powers decide to replace it with if they don’t like the UEG’s pro-CB stance.”
Nova continued, “Finally, three new, never before seen Gundams appeared and basically saved the four we are familiar with.”
Dana chewed on the candy bar she was munching on, “Which the group that I have contact with is uncertain whether these new Gundams are actually CB or not.”
Asuka got up, “No wonder you hang around here so much. You’re world is seriously messed up.”
Shinji chimed in, “How could they not know if they are part of their own side?”
Dana stretched her neck, “Because certain parts of CB are kept secret from the public team to keep those operations safe.”
Shinji scratched the side of his face, “That makes sense, I guess. Though I think I would have not gotten involved at all.”
Asuka took the moment to tease Shinji, “Not everyone runs away, Third.”
Dana got in the way of the two, “Nothing wrong with walking away from a bad situation. I just need to finish teaching him to deck at least one person before walking away.”
Asuka and Dana started fighting that was slowly escalating from words to fists, when Rei got up, “We need to report in, now. Excuse us.
Nice.

Funniest take IMO was 'Accidental Goddess' where Nabiki accidentally backdoors the Yggdrasil System and pranks up Ranma's profile as' Goddess of Sex'. then hits the 'Send' button.
Later it's discovered s/he has the ability to zap-STIMULATE people, and Ukyou ends up with an embarrassing case of spatula-fixation.
Also has the funniest revenge on Mouse I've ever seen when they return ALL his discarded training potty projectiles to him.

i've rather felt that after Seina yamada's wedding, Tenchi would no longer have an excuse. i mean, we knew polygamy was legal on Jurai because his granddad had 2 wives.. but seina ended up with 9! and he's only 3rd in line for the throne! i figured Tenchi would have been dragged to a chapel within a week by all of his love interests.

If the VFs can cling to and suck up close to the Evangelions, they might be able to survive long enough to drill through weak points in the armor and get enough explosives in under the skin to take the MP EVAs down long enough for somebody to Core them. I'm assuming that we don;t have 'Protoculture-Pumped Weaponry as Magic Bullets Against Angel-Derived Biomechanisms' going for us here.
It would be long and it would be bloody...VFs have numbers and agility....MPEVAs got mass and AT-Fields on their side. It's sparrows against vultures.
The saving grace is that the MPs are lacking in missile launchers and other spam weapons useful for dealing with lots of small agile attackers; the MP EVAs were geared towards Angels and NERV's Evangelions.

Dairugger XV wrote:Dana was a bit worried right now. It was the night before her plan came to fruition, and the news was only adding to her tension. The new Gundams, which Setsuna confirmed to Dana were called Thrones, had committed a few attacks on civilian populaces without reason. Moreover, Alleluia attacked a Human Reform League facility that had children in it. So CB’s reputation was tanking. Moreover, there was the announcement that a new weapon would be on display in the very near future. The most disturbing news came in the form of the UEG agreeing to undergo reformation.
The last bit was a point of concern for several reasons. After the Rain of Death, the survivors of the Macross set up the UEG as Earth’s only legitimate government. When human population quickly swelled due to influx of Zentraedi and cloning, the UEG’s resources started to stretch beyond the UEG’s ability to manage effectively and people were ready to revolt. The local governors and representatives took action themselves, and managed to fix much of the problems with food and energy distribution. Energy was done by getting away from the Protoculture sources the UEG was trying to sway everyone into and having people convert to the solar energy collection project that had started before the war. This gave rise to the super powers of the Union, AEU and HRL, which quickly grew more powerful than the UEG individually by virtue of popular support.
However, the UEG still retained legitimacy with the colony worlds and the super powers were still answerable to the UEG in theory, though not always in practice. While the appearance of Celestial Being had done much to stop the infighting amongst the super powers, they were now in a place where they are focused on taking over the UEG, either by forcing the UEG to disband and creating a new government in its place, or officially turning the UEG into their puppet that meets their demands rather than focusing on the mission given to it by Henry Gloval when it was formed. This was scary on a number of levels, to include how this would affect Earth’s relationships with the various colony worlds that respect the UEG, but do not want anything to do with Earth’s super powers. They could be trading one set of human infighting for another kind.
Dana let a long breath out, at least she wasn’t the one that had to deal with all of that and hopefully CB would be able to deal with whatever mess that came from all of this.
******************************************
The day came and the trio of girls posing as exchange students found the NERV children as they were walking from school to NERV. Dana leaned out the window, “Hey, want a lift there?”
Shinji looked over, “Sure, so why weren’t you at school today?”
Dana shrugged, “We had our own reports and such to do.” The three NERV children piled into the van and closed the door behind them when they noted the driver was actually carrying a weapon and was wearing armor.
Asuka roared, “Just what’s going on here?”
Nova, and the others that were in the car, put on masks before a hiss filled the car, “Sorry, but NERV has been charged with all sorts of crimes by your own government. We’re just making sure you don’t get hurt in what’s about to go on.”
Rei sat still while Asuka and Shinji tried to get out of the van. Even as she was beginning to feel drowsy, “You also want to keep the Evangelions from being deployed.”
Sylvie gave a weak smile behind her mask, “Sorry about all of this.”
*********************************************
Emerson grunted when the van containing the NERV children was behind UN lines. He looked over to the bureaucrats that were still talking about purging the site with fire and bullets and Emerson could only shake his head. The bureaucrat was clearly part of SEELE who would be in for their own surprise in about 10 minutes. Just as it was predicted, the angel identified as Armisael began to make its way to Tokyo-3, “The operation is go for phase 4. Launch the new jinxes.”
The joint forces launched their attack with a variety of units, mostly from the ASC, though 15 of the new GN-X Mobile Suits had accompanied them to use the GN weaponry against the Angel they knew would be arriving. The mecha that were launched would start interfering with the angel and served as a distraction. New protoculture powered versions of the veritech hovertank were also having an effect as the cannons had been converted into small converging beam cannons not dissimilar from the SDF-1.
The angel’s progress was indeed slowed and the GN-X’s were having the desired effect that the GN particle weaponry had been reported as having on an angel. It was a matter of time, strategy, and patience.
*******************************************************
Gendo quietly fumed, not only could they not find the pilots for the Evas, there were now interlopers successfully attacking the angel. He’d suspect SEELE had a hand in this, but they had as much to lose if something other than an Eva managed to beat an angel. He looked down at Major Katsuragi, “Launch an Eva with a dummy plug.”
Ristuko turned to give the orders to outfit Unit 2 with a dummy plug when she just collapsed and slumped off the control console. The three NERV bridge bunnies followed suit but a few seconds later. Gendo squinted at the scene before him and noticed the darts sticking out of the people beneath him. Gendo turned to get up and escape when 7 black-armored figures dropped from the ceiling and used a taser on Major Katsuragi.
Gendo had made 12 steps when three more of the figures stood in front of him. One of the apparently female figures lowered a clearly lethal weapon at him, “Gendo Ikari, you are under arrest for conspiracy to genocide the remaining population of this planet, child abuse, and operating a car without a license. I am authorized to use lethal force on you should you resist. So by all means, resist to your heart’s content.”
Gendo’s eyes narrowed and he simply raised his hands in surrender.
**********************************************
Keel Lorenz fumed. Seele had been outmaneuvered and now their facility was being attacked with the clear intent to arrest Seele. This could not be allowed to stand, “Launch the mass-production Evas.”
Another good write up!

No the magic bullet this time are GN Particles, mostly because they make more sense given what AT Fields canonically are, and what GN Particles (people once refereed to them as GN Pixie Dust for a reason) are canonically meant to do. That said, protoculture is basically just as a rare high-energy power source that lets them power extremely high-end weaponry. For instance, in the story above they retrofitted the Spartas's main gun to be a bit more like the SDF-1's canon (scaled appropriately, so it can do the positron rifle schtick at closer range), but it basically chews through an entire canister of protoculture in one to two (if you are VERY lucky) shots.
Very costly indeed.

Emerson shot Dana an angry glare, “The cadet will learn proper military discipline, now get out of here and someone confine her somewhere until I say otherwise.”
As much as Emerson was angry over Dana’s complete lack of military bearing and deference to a superior officer, he had to admit she wasn’t wrong. Her plan did account for something like this happening, but it would be career suicide to just accept a cadet’s plan, without more experienced heads making changes. Moreover, the UN and UEG both had political demands of their own that had to be tended to, including limiting the number of forces brought over to this world. Curiously, both the Union and AEU had their tactical forecasters actually objected to the changes made to the plan. The Union’s objections was because they no doubt wanted the political leverage from having a rising military star’s plan be the one that won the day. The AEU actually objected because their own forecasters had more subtle changes in mind, particularly this Kati Mannequin.
Emerson let a sigh escape his lips. For once, he wished he had listened to those that were his juniors instead of his experience and training told him was right. After all, this was just as much undiscovered territory as when the Zentraedi first attacked; assuming the tried and true would continue to work was stupid in hindsight.
**************************************************
Sergei Smirnov pulled himself from the wrecked GN-X and was grateful his subordinates had gotten clear when these beasts had shown up. He was getting fairly old for a MS pilot and should probably move himself to a more office position, but he still had some good years in him left. A bright flash appeared to his left and he was certain one of these things just unleashed a blast that was going to kill him. Instead, 16 people and three cats stood where the light was. The group just as confused as Sergei.
Sergei tried to warn them to get out the way when one of the EVAs swiped the area with a its lance. Most of the people escaped unharmed but one blonde woman caught the very tip of the lance and was beginning to bleed out. Sergei got up and ran over, “This Jinx Commander to Doppleganger, we need medevac support on my location now.”
As Sergei radioed in the request a young girl with blue hair ran over and put her hands over the blonde woman, there was a mist forming between the girl’s hands and the woman’s body, “Hang in there Lucy, I’ll heal you!”
Sergei could not believe what was happening before his eyes, everyone in that group seemed beyond angry at that point. The old man of the group stepped forward, “I will not forgive some monster who has harmed one of my children,” and with those words went from under a meter tall to the same size as the white EVAs, without so much as a tearing his clothes. He got in a fist fight with the EVA that made the slash when the other EVAs started ganging up on the old man.
The rest of the group that appeared in that burst of light, except the cats, moved into action. The red-headed woman changed her armor in a flash of light into some yellow armor with huge shoulder pauldrons and a spear. She hurled the spear at one of the attacking EVAs, which then ignited rocket boosters and flew faster and further than the already superhuman strength she hurled it with in the first place. The spear made contact with the AT Field and forced it into the visible spectrum, before tearing through it and wounding the EVA.
Sergei’s jaw dropped. There was no rational explanation for what he just saw. It didn’t help matters at all when he saw the pink-haired man combust into flames with absolutely no visible damage to himself and start punching one of the EVAs, and it worked. Sergei couldn’t keep himself from exclaiming, “That man is on fire!”
The blue cat remarked, “Aye, sir!”
Sergei could feel his eyes bulging, “That cat talked!”
The white cat looked at Sergei, “We’re not cats, we are exceeds.”
Sergei tried to calm himself, “How are they damaging the Evangelions?”
The black cat answered, “They are Fiore’s strongest wizard guild.”
Sergei’s eye twitched, “Wizards? As in magic?”
The blue one cried out again, “Aye, sir!”
Sergei screamed, “Magic doesn’t exist!”
All three exceeds looked at Sergei like he was an idiot, but only the blue one said anything, “And I thought Natsu was stupid.”
The black exceed turned his gaze back to the battle, “Still their attacks aren’t doing that much damage.”
Sergei shook himself from the shock and decided he’d deal with the world-view shattering revelation later, “They have to take out the cores to finish them, otherwise they will just keep regenerating.”
The black one suddenly grew to a full head taller than Sergei and with a build that a real human could only achieve with heavy steroid use, “I will let our friends know. Stay here and guard Wendy and Lucy.”
The black one entered the fray and it wasn’t long before the group started actually coordinating their attacks, exposing and destroying the cores. Sergei did his best to ignore the obvious violations of physics.

Lorenz and Emerson both had the same headache, and they were simultaneously wondering if they had consumed a hallucinogen recently. The mass production EVAs had been defeated by a group of random interlopers, on foot, doing things that clearly violated all sense of reality. The nail in both their proverbial coffins was when the old giant unleashed what instruments registered as a truly massive nuclear-scale attack that engulfed the battlefield, but only obliterated the MP EVAs. One did not like the prospect of a jail cell, and one did not like the prospect of putting this into a report.
Wow, what a twist! I'm just wondering how this is going to pan out now that we thrown in a curve ball like that.

Emerson let a sigh escape his lips. For once, he wished he had listened to those that were his juniors instead of his experience and training told him was right. After all, this was just as much undiscovered territory as when the Zentraedi first attacked; assuming the tried and true would continue to work was stupid in hindsight.

Wow. Fairy Tail saves the day. Cool!
Chronicler wrote:Dairugger XV wrote:Emerson struggled to keep his horror and rage out of his face, “Get the GN-X’s and the Spartases back here now! We need them back at peak operational efficiency 10 minutes ago!”
Emerson could only growl as he watched as the 9 new Evangelions ripped into his forces. They appeared just as the angel was being destroyed. He had hoped they were sent when NERV’s EVAs did not deploy, but they started attacking the joint forces nearly instantly. The surprise of it cost more than a few pilots their lives. Fortunately the ASC forces were able to get their acts together and start evading the Angels. The fire the produced had little to no effect on the white beasts, and the weapons they had that could pierce the AT Field needed resupply desperately, having completely spent themselves against the angel.
“I warned you about the dummy plug system and the possibility of more EVA pilots at other NERV facilities.”

Wow, what a twist! I'm just wondering how this is going to pan out now that we thrown in a curve ball like that.
With Fairy Tail involved, anything can happen.

Also, Fairy Tail got past the AT fields, because magic. I could also make up some excuse about the Power of Friendship as that's a big thing with that group.
Also, had I bothered to spell the action out, Fairy Tail would have been using a lot of their "spells of last resort" trying to take out the MP EVAs, so this was not a one-sided "Fairy Tail shows up and automatically wins" fight.
Not surprise there. And as for time frame, is this when FT was on the island and used that spell, that caused them to jump 7 years into the future?

///fwwooossshhh///“Hi, kids! How you doing? Enjoying the show?”

Second, I can’t help you because I’m not YOUR Misato, I’m from another universe, and I’m here to watch what’s going on. “Oh yeah...”
“Unh!”
Misato looked in disbelief at the woman tightening the harness of straps around her. The fact that she was restrained was alarming enough; the fact that the restraints were the ONLY thing she had on was cause for serious concern in her mind. And the identity of the party that had ambushed her, knocked her senseless, stripped, and strapped her into aforementioned state was reason for nervous breakdown.
“-ng!” Okay, tightening THAT particular strap was hardly necessary!
“Rei, why are you doing this?!”
The black-clad albino with the combat webbing hung with various menacing-looking devices paused in her locking and tightening to matter-of-factly stare Misato in the eye. “Because there is a five hundred thousand credit bounty on you.”
“WHAT?! Who?! -WHO- put a bounty out on me?!”
“I am not at liberty to say. Surfice to say, they want you alive and undamaged.”
”Who is it, Rei?! Who? SEELE? It better not be Kaji, because if this is some sort of dumb stunt of h-urgk!”
“You talk too much.” Rei finished gagging Misato before returning her attention to her captive’s back.
“-mehw!”
To her horror, Misato felt something click into the belting and strapping at her backside, then felt herself being lifted from the floor, then hoisted out off the balcony, over the side of her apartment building, and up into the alien craft hovering overhead.
As she was lifted skyward, Misato decided now would be a good time to have her nervous breakdown. “Alien bounty hunter? Rei? Seriously?”
“Yep. Alternate universe-hopping Rei who got seriously dissed about something to do with ‘Q’ and about people were hating her or something. Headhunted pretty much everybody in NERV and SEELE. Gendo got sent to some cosmic game show along with Kihl Lorenz. My alternate self got sent to be drafted as a trophy for a galactic beer company. Asuka ended up someplace where her anger was making somebody big money. Shinji wound up a bed warmer in some alien queen’s bedroom. That universe’s Rei became some alien nation’s queen...not the same queen. Yeah, that Rei bounty-hunter made some MAJOR cash on the deal.”
“That doesn’t sound so bad.” Rei, THEIR Rei had dercided to enter the conversation.
“No, not compared to some others...”
Unfamiliar ceiling.
At least the pain was gone.
Wait a minute, the last Shinji remembered was the Angel tearing into his Evangelion Unit with its energy whips, slicing him apart-
That’s when a face suddenly eclipsed the ceiling. A wave of blonde hair halo’ed it.
It wasn’t Doctor Akagi’s , not unless Akagi had dropped a decade of age, got two giant electrodes punched into the sides of her head and a line of stitching across her petite mouth, and got dosed with an extra heavy shot of insanity.
“Hi! So you’re awake! Good! We had to operate! You were a MESS! Oh, we haven’t formally met yet! I’m the new NERV head of internal medicine, but you can call me Fran!”
Shinji lifted his head and looked down at himself...and started screaming. “Don’t throw up in the limbo gallery.”
“*urghk!* “...erm...” “...oh god...”“That’s GODDESS.”
“You know what I mean.”
“Anyways, looks like some new players in your home universe! So, popcorn?”

Trust me, you don't want Franken Fran as your doctor. The series can be charitably described as what if Black Jack was written by H.P. Lovecraft, and edited by Clive Barker. The Trope 'Body Horror' doesn't BEGIN to describe the gore splashed on the pages.

And Rei Q as ruthless alien/cross-dimensional bounty hunter was born of reading some of the absolutely anal complaints by some people over on the Ayanami.net who go apescat whenever somebody posts pictures of Rei Q (the mass-production Rei clone of the Rebuild series). Given their inane hate, I decided to have a clone who would hate them back.

Given how common capes are among the Zeon forces in Gundam UC, they should be pleased that unlike Veritechs, Mobile Suits don't have open turbofan intakes.

Yeah, the government infiltrator who gets turned is Rumiko Kuhou. Being brainwashed into a double agent for a cult, and getting to date the New God of Martial Arts is a lot better than what she suffers in Franken Fran. She'll still run into weirdness, but a lot less bloodshed and gross physical alterations.
Once Kodachi starts brewing with Flower of Life, though, things might get rather more interesting....

Alecia: (Trying to unjam herself) "
Who keeps putting these things here!?!"

And not in a good way, most likely.
