hmm .. been a while since i posted anything on here ..

just had a thought the other day. small 'research' vessels manned by what appears to be young teens. about 16 years old. 4-5 males and 2 females. their uniforms are kinda strange too. the females are in yellow and pink and the males ... lets say in .. blue and black and red. maybe a green and possibly a white ..

oh right it was done numerous times on TV wasn't it? .. *hides from the "Space Rangers"

*races away from the forum page with a giggle

And it turns out their homeplanet is blasting these 'space cadets' off on deep space missions in order to get rid of the brats and rebellious teens..If they actually FIND something and manage to return, then the investment's paid off...if they don't return, well, no loss...

Welcome back, however fleetingly... :P

Don't hate it...inspiration comes from the strangest (and most wonderful) sources..
Why, when I was on vacation, walking in a park I remembered a grove of trees my older brother and his friends, as youngsters, employed as a 'spaceship'(plenty of twisted branches)...and I thought to myself...'What if my bro (or kids in general) KNEW something....?!'....A different take on organic spacecraft is in the offing... :D

At about the same time, I watched an festival of Oriental lanterns...and again, an image of a spacefaring 'Chinatown' of inflatable habitats(like they're testing for an orbital hotel...look it up, I ain't kidding!) with different shapes and designs, decorated into all sorts of Asian calligraphy, popped into my head...(You know inexpensive space travel's arrived when they start knocking off space hardware in backalley high-tech firms in Hong Kong...)

Reliving childhood fantasies can be a great source of inspiration. I think we might have covered most of the places to draw upon inspirations from.

No garlic!! or Spice!?!

Well, not everybody believes in the social powers of Garlic(aka "Friends of the Stinking Rose")...and some of us prefer to savor food's natural flavors...Of course, others of us treat ketchup as a primary food group and what we pour it over is merely a base to convey the stuff to our digestion(*I ain't one one of them, though my folks are... :D ).

nope .. but hey .. what do i know about cooking wild game?

think i'ld have to work at that one. my 'other brother' was talking about making a big HUGE batch of chili and canning it for the later months.

but thats cool. i left the recipe for 'no-boil lasagna' with him along with the cranberry-apple crisp. will show him how to make 'cheap man's cabbage rolls next time i'm out there ... oh wait a second .. that could be on my birthday .. hmm ... *ponders a few things and then shrugs*

so yeah .. will need to shop for a few things i guess and stockpile them. wont be needing the lasagna noodles this time .. just the stuff that makes them up .. like hte burger and cottage cheese with spinach. maybe make one with spinach and one without.

will have to make a cake too .. ooo .. maybe some jello jigglers? ... for the kidlets

I'm still working on my first RCC. I have the stats, but not much else. I'm still working on the background of the RCC.

oooo backgrounds ....

they are wonderful to have, but its sad when its time to get the keyboard and the brain to work together. i found that the fingers tend to write something totally different from what i was originally thinking.

i'm still struggling with about 10 or so questions that got asked with the first bit of the foxes. they snarked at me about the ship and the drive system .. and then a bunch of other snarkified opinions that totally bummed me out to the point of saving the re-write .. and then the Harddrive croaked and i lost it all.

That can be the biggest point right now the background. I've even got their military sort of set up in my mind. I may roll up another RCC's stats then see if I can work out a background for the first. Of course a race name doesn't hurt either. I'm still trying to come up witha name for these poor people I created.

Ah, yum...Inspiration: what we need next...Rifts Phaseworld Sourcebook: The Cookbook.... :D

*Juicer Tomatoes...What vegetable steroids? That giant pumpkin was grown the old fashioned way!

*Cyborg Spam---The only SELF-openning can!

*Pickled Splugorth Fingerlings---Sure, they're only pickled onions and calamari, but who's going to tell...and who's going to ask?

*The Supernatural Predator Diet...Meat, raw meat, and plenty of it! Atkins, I eat your heart out!

*CRazy Baking...Sprinkles! Plenty of Sprinkles! Ewww....SHINY!

Ninjabunny wrote:I've got a race in the making that deal with the smellest of road kill. SKUNKS!!!! :P

Martha's Vineyard already has them...take the skunk in AtB, add the stench, use remaining Bio-E to balloon the thing to maximum size...scale up the area of effect for spraying accordingly...

Actually, I do have a funny skunk story from my vacation...Late evening, sitting on my porch, reading by streetlight, and right next to the porch my father is standing in the road talking with two other people...I look up in time to se this low-slung shape humping along at high speed up behind the two people facing my father and just as I open my mouth to shout a warning when this skunk comes racing between the legs of all three people in the road before galloping towards another oncoming couple, then turns the corner and disappears into the shadows....All in about three seconds...

Had the skunks in the area been less acclimated to people, I imagine about a dozen people(myself included) would still be showering with tomato juice)...

You and your family are probably very lucky when dealing with skunks. I personally have always kept my distance from them. The closet encounter with a small animal recently was with a wild coyote who I spotted and avoided hitting it with my car. I slowed down and rolled down the window and talked to the coyote who ran alongside the car it looked at me for a few seconds until it vanished in the wilds not far from my home.

my current races are still stuck in the head as i'm scared that the comp may suddenly die on me and i'll loose all the stuff i've written down

anyways .. i think the feathered ones would get a laugh. don't think many of them would be about .. but man i can see their armour now. and some of their weapons .. and other cool stuff .. now to just get it all down on paper some place and go from there.

nother time guys

Ah, the Huck Finn philosophy of work and fun.....'Work' is something you're obliged to do...and once you feel obliged to do something, it becomes Work and is therefore not Fun..

Plus an imagination-hostile workplace....not a happy combination...

heh .. not really sure i wanna do the 'little book' thing. i might forget it at work and then get holy **** for doing stuff NOT work related.

was copying recipes for various meats. like bear .. and venison .. scary. had the worst case of fluffing in the history of who knows what .. and i swear .. it really did smell like something died.

i think my body thought i was trying to kill it with the venison ... go figure. will get used to it soon enough .. i hope.

good thing. i went out for a weekend to do some cooking and assisting at a family reunion [son is dating the daughter of the family .. and i'm an 'other sister' to the dad of the girlfriend and she's calling me 'mom' .. ] anyways .. HE put my name in for the draw .. he bought me 3 tickets .. then i find out i won. i turned about and reinvested. its gonna get drawn on my B-day coming up soon, and if i win again? .. i think i'll donate about 1/2 of it back to the family drawing pot.

should really make a tobacco bag for him. i think he'd like that. *nods and then figures out how to cut the shammie to make the pouch ... *

seems i've been half adopted by a young teen who's having issues at home. poor guy, needs to crash at a friends house from time to time. guess i'll have to build extra sleeping benches and get foamies and blankets. my family is swelling .. and i only got 1 kid ....

- - - -

that all aside, i TRIED to do some writing at work today. i show up at work .. and get to .... make beds for 2.5 hours ....

wow ... and now? .. NOT allowed to talk with customers .. in case comments get taken as complaints and get back to HIM.

god, the size of some peoples ego surpasses their common sense at times

but i finally get ONE of my weekend days back. i feel SO lucky to get that much of my life back on a regular basis

ah, progress.... :D
Just remember...it doesn't matter what you do, every job descends to its own level or mediocrity(we're all....with the excpetion of those saints among us... convinced that we're the dumping ground of everyone out there who needs to vent, demonstrate their lack of consciousness and commonsense, and the wrath of every clost and wannabe Captain Bligh in our particular endeavors)... :D

good thing .. i got the first line of a race put down on paper .. well the title .. and then a couple of sentences .. sure its on paper .. but this way it's a start .. so i think it will all work out in the end.

Didn't have a peaceful weekend...worked all through it...dealing with malfunctioning computers I had no idea about, people grousing at me for computer services I couldn;t provide, and tossing teenagers who were making trouble(big crash...kids go running, I ask them to stop and explain, they don't...turns out they threw ice all over the place...they come back, "Oh, we ran and didn't listen to you because we though we were in trouble!"...Guess what...*You ARE*...youth of today, leaders of tomorrow...thundering morons....)
