And here is the last mutant that I've got done so far:

Amphibian (Ancient): Crassigyrinus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Crassigyrinus is an ancient species of Amphibian that lived during the Early Carboniferous Period (about 350 Million years ago). It roamed in the shallow waters of what would eventually become modern day Northern Europe. They spent most of thier lives in the water. When fossils of this creature were discovered, it threw a monkey wrench into the carefull thought processes of various Paleontologists.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the release of the E.G.G.'s to the general public, some scientists who were part of the entertainment business decided that they would add the Crassigyrinus to the fantastical array of prehistoric Fauna that would populate the MesozoicLand theme park. So, with only a touch of controversy, due to the confusion behind what family they're part of, the Crassigyrinus was added to some of the waterways of the theme park. While there, they were both predator and prey to the other meat eaters of the park.
Then the Crash happened and they started to mutate, along with the other animals world-wide, gaining new forms and higher intelligence. After a time, they became known as underwater salvage experts, salvaging various sunken ships and other mechanical items, that would allow the various civilizations on the island to grow and expand into their current forms that were discovered by the Empire of Humanity. After the island was discovered by the Human surpremecists, they started to gather up some of the small villages of Crassigyrinus and moved them to North America in hopes of turnng them into slaves that would be used for various underwater projects.

Well, I figured that I would post the 7 new mutants that I did up.

Here's the first:

Amphibian (Ancient): Elginerperton
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Elginerperton is a ancient species of Amphibian that lived during the Middle Devonian Period (395 Million years ago). It roamed the swamps of what would eventually become the Western portion of modern day Europe. It is, what Paleontologists call a "One-off" in the Tetrapod evolutionary line and has features that are similar to both Ichthyostega and Hynerpeton. It known from only a single partial skeleton, consisting of a partial shoulder and hip, a femur, a tibia (lower hind limb) and portions of the jaw.
When Gene-Tech and the E.G.G.'s were made available to the general public, some of the governments of Europe that had shores along the Meditaraenian, decided that they would create some small (about the size of DisneyLand) parks that were only for certain types of extinct species. There was a large variety of parks, such as a park that was just for Tetrapods and another for just Theropods Dinosaurs.
When the Crash happened, some of the animals that were in parks which were close together joined together for mutual protection. Eventually, the leaders of some of these parks that were close enough together (within about 2 miles of one another) formed small communities in order to be able to thrive and share natural resources.

Here's mutant number 2:

Amphibian (Ancient): Mastodonsaurus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Mastodonsaurus is a species of ancient Amphibian that lived during the Late Triassic Period (about 210 Million years ago). They roamed the swamps, ponds and shallow lakes of what would eventually become the Western portion of Europe. It's name (in Greek) means "Niple-Tooth" and is one of the biggest prehistoric Amphibians that had ever lived. It is unclear, due to various physical qualities, if te Mastodonsaurus had spentall it's time in the water or if itmhad ventured onto land in rder to hunt.
But, with the advent of Gene-tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, Paleontologists across Europe de3cided thaqt they would start to clone the Mastodonsaurus in hopes of studying it as much as possible. After studying the newly cloned specimens, it was found that they had tended to be similar to Crocodiles and Alligators and behaviour (in effect, marking the Mastodonsaurus as one of the lead ambush predators of all time). By then, it had gained the attantion of some powerful politiceans and members oof the military from some of the most powerful nations of Europe. When they had gainned enough attention, it was decided that the Mastdonsaurus would become something of a guard animal for some of the armies from Europe that had bases in some of the countries that were located in more Tropical regions.
One of these bases, as it turned out, was located in the former country of Myanmar, which was being helped to rebuild due to some insurgents that were n the area for a few generations. Unfortunately, at one point, one of the European countries that were there helping the government rebuild had one of the science buildings broke into and some of the juvinile Mastodonsaurus stolen by insurgents and smugglers in hopes of selling a few of the creatures on the black market. The stolen Amphibians somehow managed to get free from thier carrying cases and into the forests and swamps where they started to breed and thrive.
After a time, and shortly after the Crash happened, the escapee's started to gain their sentience and more humanoid forms (just like the other animals of the world). At this point, and just before they gained enough intelligence, they were found by the Ganeshi Elephants, at which point they were gathered up and turned into slaves to be used in the armies.

Mutant number 3:

Amphbian (Ancient): Prionosuchus
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Prionosuchus is the largest known form of Amphibian, both living AND extinct. It lived during the Late Permian Era (about 270 Million years ago) and roamed the tropical swamps and marshlands, along with some of the waterways of what would eventually become today's South America. During the time that it existed it would probably have been indistinguishable from the large Crocodilians that had evolved tens of millions of years later. It's fossilised remains were first discovered in the NorthEastern portion of Brazil during the 1940's.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of E.G.G.'s, both of which was eventually allowed to be purchased by the general public, allowed paleontologists that studied the evolution of the various species of ancient Amphibians to clone animals. This allowed them to further thier various studies on how the Amphibians of the prehistoric past grew and the various stages of thier lives. After a bit of study, the Brazilian military found out that the largest Amphibian in history was found on thier soil. It was at this point that the military proceeded to confiscate all samples of Peionosuchus DNA in hopes that they could somehow create a creature that would serve as a type of guard animal, similar to the German Shepards that the Marines of various nations use in order to patrol the military bases. The difference would be that, not only would they be guard animals for the Navel bases, but they would serve as an effective deterrant for any trespassers.
When the Crash happened, a few years after the Prionosuchus were starting to be mass produced, some of the animals managed to escape from the bases while chaos reigned, although some specimens stayed behind on a few of the bases. Some of the Prionosuchus who stayed behind and survive in the new world joined up with surviving humans who had made their way to the Navel bases and started up new communities on or close to the bases. It was found that at least two (2) of these bases had the capabilities to manufacture some of the more basic boats and other much needed items for survival.
During the fight for survival in the new, wonderous world, one (1) of the naval bases managed to contact some nearby army and air force bases who still had surviving personnel inhabiting them. Once the bases were connected, a few of the bases decided to for pacts that would allow for mutual protetion and to allow for trade.

Mutant number 4:

Amphibian (Ancient): Seymouria
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Seymouria is a species of ancient Amphibian that lived during the Early Permian Period (about 290 Million years ago). It roamed the swamps and waterways of North America and Western Europe. It had quite a few Reptillian-like (read unusual) features to it, such as robust legs, well muscled legs and (presumaby) dry skin. The Reptile-like features were so numerous that it was considered to be a type of Primitive Reptile.
With the advent f Advanced Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, scientists proceeded to clone members of the Seymouria species in hopes of being able to study ancient Reptile-like Amphibians. At which point, it was found that, unlike other ancient Amphibian species, the newly revived Seymouria species could NOT be taught to become a type of Guard Animal. So, some black marketeers decided that they would used the Seymouria as a type of exotic fighter in underground animal fights.
But, about one (1) year later the Crash happened. After a time, some of the black marketeers who had survived , gathered some of the mutant animals in order to use them as pit fighters and gladiators. Some of the marketeers even started to use a few Seymouria as hired muscles and enforcers, at which they excelled at, and proceeded to take over a couple of small communities.

Description: The Temnospndyls is a type of early Amphibian that lived from the Carbniferous through to the Triassic, with a few members living to the Cretaceous. They roamed and lived near the waterways of ponds, streams and rivers. Most Temnospondyls lived a semi-aquatic lifestyle, although some lived fully on the land (although, they returned to the water only to breed with others of their kind). They were some of the first Vertebrates that fully adopted to life on land. Although the Temnospondyls are considered to be Amphibians, many had the characteristics of Reptiles (I.E. claws, scales and armour-like bony plates) that distinguished them from modern Amphibians.
With the advent of Gene-tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, some scientists started to clone the Temnospondyls in hopes that they could study them and further their knowledge of the ancient world where Amphibians ruled the planet. After a largeamount of study, it was decided that some of the newly recreated animals were to be sent to zoo's, while others were to be used in trying to figure out possible uses in health care, such as maybe using some of the genetic materials garnerd to be used as possible grafting and transplants. Description: The Westlothiana is a species of ancient Reptile-like Amphibian that lived during the Early Carboniferous Period (about 350 Million years ago). It roamed the swamps, small ponds and freshwater lakes of what would eventually become Western Europe. The Westlothiana has qualities of both Early Amphibians and Early Reptiles, having a superficial resembalence to modern-day Reptiles. Some scientists even place it amongst the Reptilomorphs.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, which were allowed to be released into the general public, alot of ancient creatures were brought back from the otherside of extinction, while others were brought back in limited numbers for study. One (1) of the ones that were brought back just for studing was the Westlothiana. It was soon discovered that they had the ability to dig large tunnels, similar to modern Skinks.
But when the Crash happened, and chaos started to spread worldwide, the Westlothiana that had been cloned managed to escape into the wilds. It was here that they interbred. They soon became a problem for survivors, due to the fact that they would dig through fields and gardens that the survivors needed.

And here's mutant number 7:

Bat (Ancient): Icaronycteris
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Icaronycteris is a species of prehhistoric Bat that lived during the Early Eocene (55 to 50 Million years ago). It roamed through the woodlands of what would eventually become modern day North America. It had many of the same traits that today's Bats have, although it did still have traits that betrayed it's ancient heritage (namely a long tail and Shrew-like teeth). Many scientists were fascinated by it because it was one (1) of the earliest fossil specimens of prehistoric Bats ever found. There is a second (sub)species of Icaronycteris that has been found, through fregmentary evidence, in France.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the E.G.G.'s, both of which was made available to the general public after much consideration, various Chiropterologists (Scientists who study Bats) started to clone the Icaronycteris in hopes of furthering thier knowledge of this animal. Unfortunately, some member of a animal rights group found out about this and snuck into the labs that were housing the specimens and proceeded to set them free. Upon getting into the wild of North America, the newly revived animals started to push out some members of the other Bat families that were already present.
Those that weren't pushed out were subsequently infected by a virus that was co-created with the Icaronycteris that the modern-day species of Bats could NOT cope with. This, in effect lead to some species of Bat, along with a few rodent species, dying out altogether.
When the Crash happened, causing major chaos world-wide, the now mutating Icaronycteris started to increase their ranges that they could live in, all the while pushing out members of the surviving Modern Bat Population.

I figured that I would post the four (4) new AtB2 mutants that I've got done. So, here's the first:
Bear (Ancient): Kolponomos
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Kolponomos is a ancient species of Bear that was semi-aquatic. It lived during the Late Miocene (about 20 Million years ago) and roamed along the various waterways of what woould eventually become modern day North America. It mainly filled a special ecological niche among Marine animals that is currently filled by the Sea Otter, to which it shares NO relation to.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, a few civilian scientists decided that they would clone/recreate the Kolponomos in order to study the species. It was hoped that they could learn something about this truly unique species of Bear, at which point, it was decided that they would place a select specimen (all of which were tagged) onto some secluded islands located in the Alaskan wilderness. The reason why Alaska was chosen was because it would have been closest to the natural environment in which they had evolved in.
A few years after the animals were put into the specialized nature reserve, it was foud that they bred faster then thier more modern relative, of whom they were pushing out or were breeding with. The crossbred Bears were not only more vicious, but they were more aquatic then either parent.
But before anything could be done. the Crash happend, spreading chaos worldwide. After some time, and as the species mutated, they became known as the Pacific Vikings, spreading from Alaska and into the Russian Tundra.

Here's the second one:

Bird (Ancient): Argentavis
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Argentavis is a species of Bird that lived during the Late Miocene (about 6 Million years ago). It roamed the skies of what would eventually become South America. It's closest living relative is the Andean Condor, which it also shares many habits with. Even though it's related to the Andean Condor, it is MUCH bigger then it. There have been many debates about the Argentavis, mainly consisting about how it flew and about whether it hunted like other Birds of Prey or, if like the Vulture, it scavenged the dead, feedig on corpses.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, which were subsequently realsed to the general public, many scientists that had studied various Bird species decided that they would clone/recreate the Argentavis in order to study the species further. After studing some specimens for 2 years, a few Argentavis somehow managed to escape into the mountains, which were located near to research complex. Although no trace of the escaped animals could be found, it wasn't until years later when a mated pair was spoted in the Central American country of Honduras. The mated pair was seen when they had grabbed a pair of small Goats from a secluded farm.
But before anything could be done about them the Crash happened, throwing everyone into a panic and the world into a state of chaos. After a few years, some of the mutating Argentavis started up small enclaves and settlements in the various mountain ranges and highlands of Central and South America. Although, a few members managed to mack it as far North as Texas and the Mid-West of North America.

Here's number three:

Bird (Ancient): Confuciusornis
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Confuciusornis is a ancient species of Bird hat lived during the Early Cretaceous (130 to 120 Million years ago) and roamed the woodlands of what would eventually become modern day Asia. It is a truly unique creature due to the fact that it is the very first prehistoric bird with a true beak. Some paleontologists think that, just because it has feathers and a beak, along with curved claws that enabled the Confuciusornis to perch on branches, it might just have been an evolutionary "dead end" in avian evolution. When the creature was first found, it was named after the Chinese philosopher Confucius.
With the advent of Gene-tech and the inventionof the E.G.G.'s, both of which were released to the general public after a time, some scientists decided that they would clone/recreate various ancient animals for various uses. Some animals were cloned in order to put into preserves and zoo's, while others were created in order to study them in hopes of finding some sort of use for them. But the Confuciusornis was recreated at the request oof a wealthy business man who had high hopes of selling them as unique pets for wealthy clientele.
But it was all for naught, because shortly after they were put into mass production, the Crash happened, destroying the vast majority of the human race. Thankfully though, as the effects of the Crash was happening, a few of the scientists decided that they would release the newly reborn Confuciusornis into the forests through out Asia in hopes that they would survive the chaos.
Although, it was found that one (1) of the scientists had changed herself with the usage of Gene-tech in hopes that she could watch over her "children" that she had a helping hand in recreating. She was actually insane due to the fact that her REAL children had died in the chaos. The group that she started to watch over, after a few generations, started to woreship her and began calling her the "Great Mother". They then, after a time, started to expand their territory and proceeded to attack other creatures who were also mutating and began to use them as slave soldiers.

And here's the final one done thus far:

Bird (Ancient): Patagopteryx
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Patagopteryx is a species of ancient Bird that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period (80 Million years ago). It roamed the woodlands of what would eventually become South America and were around long enough that they had evolved in such a way that they lost the ability to fly, similar to modern Chickens. The fossils of this bird were originally found in 1984 and made scientists scratch thier heads out of curiousity.
But, with the advent of Gene-Tech and the E.G.G.\s being invented, it was decided that they would bring back the ancient Bird, in hopes that they could possibly study it in order to figure nout how to properly catergorise it. After a few members were cloned/recreated, alot of scientists were devided as to WHY the Patagopteryx had evolved this way. Some scientists thought that the reason was because the bird started to inhabit small, secluded islands. Other scientists thought that they became the way that they did was because they had to some how had to be able to maneuver easier if they walked on the ground. After a time, when one of the scientists had found that one of the specimens had died from natural causes, he decided to sate his curiousity about whether or not it was edible. When he cooked up some meat that he had carved fom the specimen, he found that it was not only edible, but it was, in fact, quite flavourful.
But, a few months after this dscovery, the Crash ahppened, throwing the world into chaos and changing the face of it forever. Even though some of the members of the Patagopteryx species mutated, gaining both intelligence and more humanoid forms, the vast majority remained unmutated and unchanged. Later on, while a squad from the Empire of Humanity was exploring the jungles of South America, they came upon one of the labs where the bird was cloned (and was the same lab that the scientist that had found out that the Patagopteryx was edible was from) and found varioys notes about the tests that were done there. One (1) such set of notes was from the scientist that figured out about the Patagopteryx being able to be used as food. The soldiers then proceeded to capture some of the birds in order to take them back to thier country with all the information and technology that was gathered.

Here's one of three holiday gifts for you all:

Bird (Ancient): Dromornis
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Dromornis is a species of Bird that lived during Miocene and the Early Pliocene (from 15 Million to 3 Million years ago). It roamed the vast Woodlands of what would eventually become modern day Australia and is also known as The Thunder Bird. Contrary to what some would believe, then Dromornis is NOT related to modern day Ostriches of Australia but is related more to today's Ducks and Geese. Unlike other giant Birds of the prehistoric past, it is thought that the Dromornis did NOT g extict due to hunting by humans but by climate change that impacted its Herbivous diet.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s which were, after a time allowed into the general public, some scientists in Australia decided that they would clone/recreate the Dromornis in order to properally study it. It was eventually found that it truly had a herbivorous diet, which was easily met with various fruits and vegitables from modern day farms.
But then, the Crash happened, sending Human civilization into a semi-death spiral. The humans who managedto survive foundthat the animals that they once knew were gaining new forms, more humanoid, forms. The Dromornis was one of these species that joined the mutation ranks. But, unlike some of the other mutants, it was decided by some of the older members of the Dromornis species that they would take up the mantle of farmes for the entire continent of Australia, in hopes of a peaceful existance among other mutants.
Size Level: 15.

Here is gift number two:

Bird (Ancient): Inkayacu
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Inkayacu is a ancient species of Penguin that lived during the Late Eocene (36 Million years ago). They roamed the shorelines of what would eventually beome South America. The Inkayacu is known as the first plus-sized member of the Penguin family to have been discovered in Modern-Day Peru and the climate it lived in was that of a hmid, warm one. This allowed it to thrive and might even be rewriting the books on Penguin evolution. It is (about) twice the size of today's Emperor Penguin. The most interesting thing that was found about the Inkayacu was not it's size, its build or the climate that it lived in, but the fact that the fossils that were found of it had the impressions of feathers. After some study, it was found that there were still pigment-bearing cells located in some of the fossils. This allowed the scientists to make some theories about the colouration of the feathers, of not only the Inkayacu but also (possibly) those of feathered Dinosaurs.
After a time, once both Gene-Tech and the E.G.G.'s were made available to the general public, some scientists who studied the Penguin family tree decided that they would clone/recreate some members of the Inkayacu family in order to create a thriving colony that could be studied. It was found that they were very good hunters with a stong survival instinct and, strangely, an insatiable curiousity that was stronger then that of an average Penguin. A few scientists, who were in slightly more secluded portions of South America, decided to see if they could be trained to help in fishing. So, those scientists started to train, all the while adjusting the intelligence of one or two members of select colonies, thier Inkayacu to assist in fishing and to patrol the nets of some fish farms and the nets of small boats.
But, after a time, the Crash happened, which threw everything out the window and caused chaos all over the world. After a time, as the Inkayacu changed, mutated and "evolved" into more Humanoid forms, they started to gather into small villages and towns. This is where they started to not only become fishers, but they started up smallm sea weed farms where they grew crops of some edible forms of sea weed. They also proceeded to harvest mussles and clams in order to help with thier diet.

And here is gift number three:

Bird: Copepteryx
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Copepteryx is a extinct species of that lived during the Oligocene (about 28-23 Million years ago). It roamed the ocean shores of what would eventually become the islands of Japan. The Copepteryx is the mst famous member of an obscure lineage of Prehistoric Birds known as Plotopterids and are often discribed as large, flightless Birds that have a similar appearance to more modern Penguins. It is thought that it had gone extinct at the same time as the extinction of the true giant Penguins that resided in the Southern Hemisphere. This is thought to be due to the predation by the ancient ancestors of modern Seals and Dolphins.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, both of which was made available to the civilian population, some scientists who studied the various species of ancient bird managed to extract the needed DNA from fossils of the various species of ancient Bird, one of which was the Copepteryx. Once this was accomplished, the scientists started to clone and recreate the ancient Bird species (along with the Copepteryx) in hopes of being able to study them and possibly breed them in order to bring them back. After awhile of studying the Copepteryx it was decided by the Japanese scientists and scholars that they would be put into a rather large nature preserve in order to make a come back. After a time, some members managed to escape the preserve and made thier way to some nearby fishing villages where it turned out that they were very friendly to the people that lived in them.
A few years later, when the Crash happened, and the humans started to die out while the animals were mutating, the Copepteryx that were living in the villages at the time managed to help the humans in surviving as the world around them crumbled and changed.

Thankyou, my friend. I hope that You have a great Holiday with much cheer (although you MIGHT want to stay away from the mutating Egg Nog. Also, here's another mutant that I JUST finished and I figured that I'd post it before Midnight:

Bird: Vampire Finches
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Vampire Finch is a species of small Bird that lives on the Galapagos Islands.nIt is a unique species of Bird in the sense that it feeds by drinking the blood of other Birds, namely the Nazca and the Blue-Footed Boobie. They peck at the skin with thier sharp beaks until blood is drawn. It is thought that this behaviour evolved fr4om the way it pecked while cleaning out Parasites out of the plumage of the Booby. They also have a tendancy to feed on the eggs of other Birds, stealing them just as they are laid. These unusual feeding habits are due, in part, to the fact that there is a LACK of freshwater on these Bird's home Islands.
They are a member species of 15 other Galapagos Finches that are often called "Darwin's finches". They are often used as an example of how the descendants of one (1) ancestor can evolve into several other species as they adapt to different conditions.

Seen this little bugger yet?
http://www.arkinspace.com/2011/04/peacock-spider-australias-show-off.html
Major P.B. bonuses there... :D
The only spider I think I'd actually LIKE.
Besides his small size and extraordinary color, note the location of his outermost eyes....he's almost got full 360-degree vision!

Seen those little buggers at my mums place when I was a wee little tyke. Always thought they were pretty damn cool, nice and brightly coloured and they do indeed jump. But I never saw their courtship display. Fascinating little buggers.

When you think about it, it's both a threat posture and a courtship display. That fan makes the little critter look a lot larger(and with fake eyeshots, threatening) than it really is. And so the ones with the best displays survive...and get the girls. :bandit:

Or it could just be that Australian spiders are cooler than anybody elses'. :D

Anyways, excellent job with the recent creations, Rathorc. Vampire finches? Indeed, nature leaves no niche unfilled. And nice little snippets about mutant/human enclaves in Japan. 8)

Since all of you have been patient in your waiting, I present to you (for the start of the of the mutants in this new year) 5 (yes 5) new AtB2 mutants. Here's the first:

Bird (Ancient): Ornimegalonyx
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Ornimegalonyx is a species of extinct Giant Own that is believed to be the largest species of Owl to have ever lived. It lived during the Late Pleistocene Period (over 10,000 years ago) and roamed the forests f what woould eventually become the Island nation of Cuba. It's remains have been found in various caves located throughout the Island, with a total of three (3) skeletons and alot of loose bones found. It had very long legs for its size and was rather bulky. The modern Owl that most resembles it would probably be the Borrowing Owl.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, which some governments were hoping to keep away from others with little to no avail due to various sleeper spies, the government of Cuba managed to get their hands on some when they became available on the open market. At this point, some scientists and politicians in Cuba, with high hopea of creating a theme park filled with various animals that have either gone extinct or were near it in order to boost tourism for thier nation. So, when they were deciding on what animalsto clone/recreate, they decided that one (1) of the animals was going to be the Ornimegalonyx.
The Ornimegalonyx was one of the last species that they were cloning before the "Crash" happened, meaning that they only managed to clone about 325 members out of some 500 animals, with a 175 members still left in the cloning vats (which were in a seeled off area and put into Cryostasis in hopes that humanity would survive the latestn crisis). After about four (4) generations of animals mutating into new forms, the Ornimegalonyx that were put into stasis were brought out by the descendants of the previous batches of Ornimegalonyx and were allowed to finish in thier growth and with new knowledge. After which point, they sent into the wilderness in hopes that they would help thier population grow bigger.

Here's the second:

Bird (Ancient): Osteodontornis
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Osteodo9ntornis is a species of water Bird that lived during the Miocene (from 23 to 5 Million years ago) with a habitat along the coastlines of Easter Asia and Western Northy America. It's Diet mainly consisted of Fish. The Osteodontornis is most notable for the small, serrated "pseudo-Teeth" that ran along the upper and lower jaws of the Bird, which it used to snatch up Fish along the shorelines of Asia and North America. Some members of the species had 15 foot wingspans, making it, in effect, the second-biggest sea-going prehistoric Bird that ever lived and was closely related to the Pelagornis, which was, itself, second in size to the truely massive Argentavis that lived in South America. The Osteodontornis was well suited to it's Marine habitat, surviving throughout the Miocene until it died out a few million years ago.
Once Gene-tech and the E.G.G.'s were allowed into the general public, the Osteodontornis was one of the species that was selected to be brought back from the other side of extinction. It was on a (relatively) long list of Bird species that would be studied in various labs and sanctuaries that were set aside for such things. The main two (2) reasons that it was selected were it's size and the structure of it's Beak.
But when the "Crash" happened, there were only 100 breeding pairs of Osteodontornis on a large island sanctuary off of Noth America. There was another 200 breeding pairs located throughout the various Island chains in Asia. As the world spun into chaos and animals were changing into different and new forms, the Osteodontornis changed with them. But due to the secluded areas in which the breeding colonies lived, they became both fishermen and Oceanic farmers for the newly intelligent species that lived near them.

Here's the third:

Bird (Ancient): Talpanas
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Talpanas (better known as the Kaua'i Mole Duck) is a extinct species of Duck that once lived on the Hawaiian Island of Maha'ulepu. The last of the species died out about 6,000 years ago (at about 4,050 B.C.). It was near blind and relied on both it's sense of smell and it's sense of touch by using it's Beak. There are many theories as to why it died out naturally, but the main one involves that they died out naturally.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, both of which were allowed into the general public, it was decide that they would recreate/clone the Talpanas in order to increase tourism throughout the island chain. So, once certain areas and habitats were set up, the process of bringing back the Talpanas began. The first Island to recieve the new animals was the Island in which the fossilsn were originally found on: the Island of Maha'ulepu, with he other islands following shortly there after.
But, when the "Crash" happened and the world started to fall apart, the majority of the Human population on the Hawaiian Island chain. Even though the Humans on the island were left relatively unscathed, the various animals that were also inhabiting the islands weren't so lucky due to the fact that they were mutatting into new, more human, forms. One group of these animals was the Talpanas, which, upon the discovery that they were also cmutating, were then put to use in working in the jungles where they gathered some much needed medicinal herbs for the growing population of sentient beings. Eventually, as some of the humans started to gather onto the last Island in the chain, it was decided that the newly sentient animals would be allowed to govern themselves on the rest of the Islands. The Island of Maha'ulepu was given to the Talpanas and trade was started between them and the remaining Humans.

Here's the fourth:

Cryptid: Agogwe
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Agogwe is a bipedal primate that is roughly the size of a child or young adult (ranging between the years of 8 and 14) and lives in the forests of East Africa. The first recorded sighting of this Cryptid species was in December 1937 and reported by a Captain William Hichens who was on a assignment for the Discovery megazine. When he first seen two members of the species he was with a native guide who had gazed at them with a mingled fear and amazement, but then explained to the captain that you (generally) only see a single member once in a lifetime.
A previous sighting of this unique Cryptid, although not reported until roughly a year (1938) after Captain William Hichens was criticized and rediculed, occured in 1927 while coasting along Portuguese East Africa by one Cuthbert Burgoyne.
They go by many names throughout Africa. Names such as the Kakundakari or the Kilomba in Zimbabwe and the Congo Region, the Sehite on the Ivory Coast.
There are many theories as to what this Cryptid is. One such theory claims that it is a surviving species of Australopithicus (once living from 2.5 to 4.5 Million years ago). Another possible theory about the Agogwe is that it is a surviving sub-species of Gibbons in Africa, although the biggest problem with this theory is that Gibbons rarely walk on solid land and mainly move by using thier arms.

There have been many sighting of this creature, in particular around Darien and the McIntosh County. The legend of this strange creature has it's roots in the Native American lore of the area. The local Native American tribe that lives in the area is the Tama tribe and predates the British-English colonization. The Altamaha-Ha creature is also commonly calloed Altie.
The Cryptozoologists who have studied this creatureclaim that there have been uniform sightings of this strange creature, where witnesses claim that, when they seen it, it swam like a Seal, rather then like a Fish or an Eel. I figured that I would take the evening to post five (yes 5) new AtB2 mutants that I did up. Here's the first:

Camel (Ancient): Aepycamelus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Aepycamelus is a extinct species of Camel that lived during the Middle to Late Miocene (from 15 to 5 Million years ago, effectively being in existance for approximately 15.7 Million years in total) and roamed the plains of what would become Modern day North America. There were two (2) unusual things about this Prehistoric Camel that stumped scientists. The first was that it was found in North America and the second was that it had looked like a Giraffe due to it's long legs and slender neck. As befitting of it's Giraffe-like appearance, the Aepycamelus spent most of it's time nibbling the leaves high up in various tall trees. It's fossils were discovered throughout the continent, from Montana to Florida and to California.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s |(both of which were eventually allowed into the civilian population), it was decided that the Aepycamelus was a truly unique creature. So unique in fact, that various scientists, deciding in a forum, that the Aepycamelus species would be recreated in hopes of figuring out how it might have lived. As such, they proceeded to clone a total number of 250 members (125 males and 125 females) in hopes that they can have their own Camel species that is originally a North American species.
But, unfortunately, after a time the "Crash" happened which had thrown the world into a chaotic mess. As time passed, and the world slowly recovered, the Aepycamelus that had been created started to mutate with the other animals of the world. They proceeded to form herds and went from town to town, effectivily creating a caravan to supply and support the towns.

Here's number two (#2):

Camel (Ancient): Camelops
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Camelops is a species of, now extinct, prehistoric Camel that lived from the Pleistocene and into the Modern Era (from 2 Million to 10,000 Years ago). They roamed the plains of what would eventually become North America. The Camelops is a famous animal for two (2) reasons. The first is that it is the last species of prehistoric Camel that originates in North America. The second reason why it's famous is due to the fact that a fossil specimen was unearthed in the American State of Arizona in 2007 while a Wal-Mart was being excavated in order to build it.
The possibilities of extinction of the Camelops, along with the extinction of other members of the Camelid family, Native Horses and the Mastodons, include Global Climate Change and hunting pressure from the arrival of the Clovis people, who were prolific hunters who hunted with distinctive stone tools.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, both of which were eventually allowed to be purchased by the general public, with some exceptions, it was eventually decided that the Camelops would be brought back to life. There were many questions about how this animal lived by many people, so it was decided that they would create a large enough number to create a number of small herds. After a time, it was found that they were fairly strong over long durations when compared to thier more modern counterparts. Once this was found out, it was decided that they would be used to help move things around when it wasn't a good idea to use vehicles due to various reasons.
But, after a time, the Crash happened, sending everything into chaos. After a time, as the Camelops started to grow in numbers, along with gaining more humanoid forms and intellect, it was decided by some of the Elders of thier race that they would become Construction Engineers, which was a job which they greatly excelled in.

Here's number three (#3):

Camel (Ancient): Poebrotherium
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Poebrotherium is a species of Camel that lived during he Oligocene (from 33 to 23 Million years ago). It roamed the plains and fields of what would eventually become North America, feeding on mostly grasses. It was named in the middle of the 19th century by the famous paleontologist Joseph Leidy. The Poebrotherium is one of the earliest known Camel species yet to be identified in the fossil records. By the time that the species showed up in the Camel's evolutionary line, things like fatty lumps that store water and knobby legs had yet to appear.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the creation of the E.G.G.'s, both of which eventually were allowed into the general populace, some people wanted to clone various animals in order to sell them in pet stores. The Poebrotherium was one (1) such species. After a time, the Poebrotherium became one of the most popular pets in the world, but most of the people who bought these animals were living in North America.
It was also found, after some strange experimentaion, that the Poebrotherium was quite edible. So edible that, for some cultures, it eventually became a delicacy. But this was mainly limited to some portions of Asia. But when the Crash happened, and the various domesticated animals managed to escape into the wilds, the ancient Camel started to compete with other, more modern species of small Herbivores.

Here's number four (#4):

Camel (Ancient): Procamelus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Procamelus is a extinct species of Camel that lived during the Oligocene through to the Miocene (from 20.6 to 4.9 Million years ago), effectively existing for about 15.7 Million years. They roamed on the plains and light forested areas of what would eventually become North America. It was one of the few species that was native to the North American continent, since the others all (more or less) migrated across the Bering Land Bridge and into Asia and from there to the African region. Also, unlike other ancient forms of Camels. it didn't have hooves, but had pads on its feet. This would have helped it move across soft ground, such as sand.
But, with the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s (both of which were eventually allowed into the general public, the race to both bring back and recreate the various species that were either extinct or near extinction began. There was somewhat high stakes in this endevour, mainly due to the fact that the various governments of the world needed more cash flow in order to run. One (1) of these species that was brought back from the other side of extinction with hopes that they could be studied.
But, a few years after the Crash happened, and there were only a few pockets of humanity left in the world, a few herds of Procamelus roamed across the great plains. The elders of some of these herds decided that they would join together in order to be able to better cope with this new world. One (1) of these area's that was settled in was in New Mexico.

Camel (Ancient): Protylopus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Protylopus is an extinct species of Camel that lived during the Middle to Late Eocene (from about 45 to 40 Million years ago) and lived in the forests of what would eventually become North America. Some scientists think that it may have raised itself up on it's back legs like today's Gerenuk Antelope which live in the Eastern portion of Africa, like Somalia, Djibouti and Eastern Ethiopia. That would be due to the fact that it might have carried itself on the third and fourth toes of it's hind limbs and possesed hooves instead of the toe pads like today's Camels. The Protylopus was also small when compared to it's modern day descendants and would eventually change and become the Deer-like PoeBrotherium. This would partly help to show how the Protylopus would eventually become the Camels of today, which we all know.
But, with the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, some scientists who were studying the Protlopus thought that it might be a good idea to try and see if they could sell them on the open market as pets. This endevour proved to be highly successful, which is due to the fat that many people from across the world thought that they were a "cute" animal. After a time, the Protylopus became almost as popular of a pet as the more traditional animals, like Dogs, Cats and various other animals.
By the time that the Crash happened, the Protylops was in many house holds. Of course, this caused trouble since they became prey to other pets that were starving and survived when their masters/owners had died from the viruses. Although, many managed to survive for long enough until they could get to wooded areas.

Hey, folks. I just wanted to let you all know that I found quite the interesting website. It has a listing of over 1,000 creature that I'm debating about turning into AtB2 mutants for you all. Here's a link for you to use if you want to do something similar: http://www.prehistoric-wildlife.com/listings/a.html.

Side question: Is TMNT RPG still in print? I had one back in the late 90s but it fell apart?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness is sadly no longer in print. It is possible to find copies of the game online via ebay/amazon or on some torrent sites if you prefer to obtain things illegally.

The new After The Bomb game is what many (myself included) believe TMNT ver. 2.0 would have been. However, once PB lost the licensing to TMNT(due to poor pre-orders, a "only for kids" stigma after the cartoons, and higher fee's ) they could no longer market their product under that name. Thus we were given After The Bomb (2). A complete RPG rather than a post apocalyptic module for TMNT.

Hope this helps.

Here's the first of two (2) new mutants:

Canine: Coywolf (Chimera)
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Coywolf is a species of Canine that is a hybred of a Wolf and a Coyote. They are reletively common in the Eastern portion of North America, where they are considered (and called) to be Eastern Coyotes, Eastern Wolves or Red Wolves. The Eastern Coyote portion of the Coywolf species has an ancestory that mainly consists of Coyote, but also has the ancestory of either the Gray Wolf or the Red Wolf (which itself is a sub-species of the Gray Wolf and are what is called an "Intermediate" between Coyotes and Gray wolves). The Coywolf is one of the Hybred species that are, strangely enough, able to not only be able to mate successfully but are also able to give birth. This, in effect, is allows the species to, not only grow, but to expand into (and take over) territories that would normally belong to various Wolf species.

And here's the second of the two (2):

Crocodile (Ancient): Anatosuchus
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: The Anatosuchus (also known as the Duck Croc) is a extinct species of reptile called a Crocodylomorph that lived during the Early Cretaceous Period. It lived along rivers and streams of what would eventually be the Niger portion of Northern Africa. The Anatosuchus is a unique creature due to the fact that it's jaws takke on a strange shape: the shape is that of a duck's bill. It also has a single, small, pointed protrusion that extends from the front of the snout. It is thought that the protrusion was used to root out small prey items.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, both of which were allowed into the general public, A large number of entrepeneurs throughout the world decided that they should put this technology to good use. Somestarted up little farms in order to increase food selections, while others started up either zoo's or nature preserves in hopes of bringing back creatures from the ancient past. One zoo in particular, was located in the Southern portion of North America, and specialized in ancient species of Crocodiles and Aligators. They recreated a lot of unique and unusual forms of Ancient Crocodiles, one (1) of which was the Anatosuchus. One (1) Paleontologist stated that he found it kind of funny that the Anatosuchus prooved that evolution had a quirky sense of humour.
When the Crash happened, and humanity neared extinction while the various animal species changed and gained intelligence, the Anatosuchus migrated South towards the Yucatan Penninsula. Once they arrived there, they started up small colonies in hopes along various rivers.

Ah yes. My first ever mutant. A classic. Well, it's actually based on both the mythos of the Jersey Devil and a picture that I had seen of it.

Time for me to post two (2) new mutants for you all. Here's the first (1st):

Crocodile (Ancient): Araripesuchus Rattoides
Original Animal Characteristics:
Description: Thhe Araripesuchus Rattoides is an ancient species of Crocodile. They lived during the Middle Cretaceous (from 110 to 95 Million years ago) and roamed along riverbeds of what would eventually become modern day Africa and South America. The Araripesuchus wasn't the biggest species of prehistoric Crocodile, but judging by the way it had evolved, with long, muscular legs and body, it was one of the most dangerous. In fact, the Araripesuchus looks like it was caught halfway between evolving from a Crocodile to a Theropod.
The Araripesuchus Rattoides is one of six sub-species of Araripesuchus currently known. Also, at around the time that Araripesuchus existed, both South America and Africa were physically joined together, givingncredance to the existance of the Soutyhern continant of Gondwana. It has two seperate nicknames that Paleontologistscall it. These nicknames are the "Dog Croc" and the "Rat Croc", and is one of the better known species of Terrestrial Crocodile.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the invention of the E.G.G.'s, both of which were released into the general public after a time, many scientists decided that they would clone various species of animals for study. The animals were from various time periods and across the globe, one of which was the Araripesuchus Rattoides. The scientists who cloned/recreated the Araripesuchus were mainly studing the evolution of Crocodiles and Alligators. The area that the research was going to take place in was located in a secluded portion of Central America that the Yucatan Peninsula was located on and was fenced in with heavy duty fencing in order to protect any homesteads or villages that might have been in the area.
When the Crash happened and chaos was spreading across the planet, one of the scientists who had gone insane from both the seclusion and the pain that was wracking his body from the Virus, proceeded to increase the speed in which the mutations were changing the animals. One of the species that the scientist had sped up the mutation in was the Araripesuchus, allowing them to gain the intelligence needed to survive in this new, chaotic world.

Here's the second (2nd) new mutant for you all:

Crocodile (Ancient): Dakosaurus
Original Animal Characterististics:
Description: The Dakosaurus is an ancient species of Ocean-going Crocodile that lived during the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous period (from 150 to 130 Million years ago) and roamed in the shallow seas that existed in what is now modern day Eurasia and both North and South America. Even though the Dakosaurus is a prehistoric Crocodile, similar to it's close relatives (the Metriorhynchus and Geosaurus), its body was more like the fierce Marine Reptiles known as the Mosasaurs that appeared later on in the Cretaceous Period. Its rear flippers were long, clumsy and leg-like in appearance, revealing the fact that it was only partially evolved from its Terreaztial ancestory, revealing that it probably wasn't that fast of a swimmer. The Dakosaurus has a unusually long pedigree. The first species of Dakosaurus was named way back in 1856and was accidentally mistaken for a sub-species of Megalosaurs.
With the advent of Gene-Tech and the E.G.G.'s, which were allowed to be purchased by the general public, many species of creatures were brought back back from the edge (or even the other side) of extinction. One such species that was brought back from the other side of extinction was the Dakosaurus. It was hoped that scientists could study this fascinating creature in hopes that some facts on the how and why of its evolution could come to light.
Although, after a time, it was found out that it could be genearlly used to guard military bases that had ocean frontage. This basically meant that, even though member of the Dakosaurus species could roam freely, they had to both have tracking chips sergically inserted beneath their tough skins and to be placed into areas that had heavy chain linked fences enclosing the area that were being patroled by these ancient creatures.
When the Crash happened and the animals of the world were changing and humanity was dieing out, the Dakosaurus managed to escape into the surrounding ocean. Once there, they started to thrive as they mutated and changed, eventually becoming members of various Pirate ships in the area and abroad.
