As for stuff like disintegration, I think it was something that Osborn had done to him during Secret Invasion. I'm not 100% certain.

As for the immortality, Thanos cursed him with it because Death was ignoring him in favor of her infatuation with Deadpool. And let's face it, when Thanos curses someone with immortality, he isn't exactly one for half-measures.

Neither have I, but judging from the preview snippets, there's a lot more hand to hand with the aliens this time around, and at least one Big Boss/Queen battle(if the giant alien FOOT coming out of the air and crushing a truck is any indication).
I'm also suspecting we're going to see some retooled American street-gangs with energy weapons taking on aliens...
Thing is, if it's hand to hand against an ancient vampire like Alucard, and not hiding up in orbit and bombing the hell out of everything, the aliens have LOST. A battleship's main batteries are worthless if the neobarbarians are already in among your crew, slitting throats and tearing off heads.

Yeah, the new 2199 continuity...okay, we have TWO original Iscandarians actually surviving, we have a moratorium on Wave Motion Guns putting a stop to Voltron-style BFG saves(how long is THAT going to last?), Yuki's got brain damage that's sure to be future story fodder, and the Gamilos still have a home world and are aligned with Earth(at least in so far as we're not shooting at each other). That means the Gatlanteans are either going to be likewise 'misunderstood bad guys'...or they're going to seriously ramp up the mania to make them serious badasses(one critic already compared their appearances as the 'Klingon Empire of the SBY universe'.).

Seeing the Gatlanteans in the movie, I have to wonder how they avoided wiping themselves out long enough to develop space travel? Don't forget Starsha has Kodai's niece on the way. Speaking of brain damage ... are there any adverse effects from Yuria sharing her brain with Yurisha?
