The spell "Stealthwalk" from Mercenary Adventures could be interpreted to grant that ability, although it does not specifically say so.

I was scanning through some of the debates regarding the necessity of incantation to cast a spell and I was wondering if there was a spell that, once cast, allowed the spellcaster to cast any additional spells (for a certain length of time) silently.

If it does exist, could someone point me to where I could find it?

If it does not exist, I think that I may house-rule it in, because I think it might make for a fun little carrot to dangle in front of my players. What would you recommend for level/duration/PPE cost?

Thanks.

No spell I can think of, in any book.

If your looking for suggestions:

In a typical game I run, I'd probably only allow the lvl 3 and the lvl 11 version of the spell, but it depends really on what type of game I'd be running.

A low level version could be

lvl 3 spell
PPE 6
Duration: 1 spell or 10 min per lvl of exp
range: Self only

When cast, the next spell the mage casts, the vocalization sounds will die within 1 foot of him, making the spell effectivly silent. This is only good for 1 spell or 10 min per lvl of experience.

A mid version

LvL 6 spell
PPE 20
Duration: 10 min per lvl of experience
Range: Self only

When cast the spell caster can now cast all spells without vocalization, but in stead subsitutes it with hand signals (kind of like sign language). The mage intutitivly knows how to convert each spell into hand signals for the duration of the spell.

A high version

Lvl 11 spell
PPE 80
Duration: 1 hour per lvl of exp
range Self only

For the duration of the spell, the character can mentally vocalize any spell for the duration of the spell. One the down side, due to the erratic nature of magic there is a % chance the spell will be affected. (Roll on the same table as a mage wearing full armor each time a spell is cast).

Spell of Legend

PPE 200
Duration: 1 day per lvl of exp
Range: self only

Same as the high lvl version, except without the % chance spell effect.

Sourcerer's Fury comes to mind - after this spell is casted only call lightning is possible.

Other wise I do not know any spell that gives additional spell knowledge.

Indirectly invisible superior reduces the sound giving prowl of 80%. So you could use that to see if others ear it.

Only trouble with that is the first attack spell you cast, it cancel the spell.

The D&D equivalent is called "Vocalization."

I vaguely, vaguely recall a similar spell in Palladium's spell arsenal, but unfortunately for me even if I have my Rifts: Book of Magic in hand, I won't be able to tell you what Spell it is just by looking at its title.

P.S. Does anyone remember if this was covered in "The Three Galaxies," or something like that, under "Space Magic" or something???

Not so much a spell, as an ability-Doublemind from Mystic China, & Rifts Japan. Allows you to
cast spells silently, & Engage in combat at the same time (at least thats how I do it)
