You are on your own. The Army is MIA and our government is gone! There are no communications of any kind. Cities and towns have gone dark, and zombies fill the streets. The dead have risen and it would seem to be the end of the world. Help me, Mommy!

LOL!!! So true!
I don't think a Sorcerer would last long in DR. Beacons draw hordes...and nobody wins against hordes. However, there might be something fun about a campaign where the Sorcerer must be protected and the PCs have to stay on the move, always having their position given away by the beacon.
There are sorcerers in my game world. They don't do all that bad, especially if they keep moving. Big time zombie bait if their seen though. In fact, ones with over 100 PE momentarily "short out" zombies that see them. Its like looking into the sun for them, the shock just make a small percentage just stop and stare for a melee or two. This is balanced out by the ease with which they are detected, and the particular tenacity with which they are hunted. Not to mention most real people hate them too.
