I know how easy it is to imagine certain things are happening. So, I'd like to offer a few behind the scenes insights. But before I do, let me just say that anger never solved anything. It's appropriate to point out that we hear but are only partially able to obey.
The runaway train of the current economy put thousands of people out of work and caused a lot of businesses to hunker down. In January, Kevin sat the staff down (all four of us) and called out a battle plan. It meant certain things had to be done a certain way to get us through the rest of the year. January was a straight 7 days a week. I don't remember February or March much but it was all about getting a bunch of product ready for the Open House by the end of April. It was backbreaking and mentally numbing. The end of April came and the Open House just added exhaustion on top of exhaustion. Oh, I had fun meeting people and talking to some of our freelancers and fans. But it took me about a week or two to recover.
May was a blur of activity and here it is, the middle of June. And we're right back in the production grind. Let me tell you, in what I call Palladium Time, weeks pass like days and months like weeks.
It is one of my biggest personal goals to see certain books released - soon. Beyond Arcanum and Tome Grotesque are at the top, but I guess I'm going to have to wait. I was happy to see my contribution to the Lazlo Agency appear in the Beyond the Supernatural, 2nd Edition, but I'm going to have to wait before contributing to the two sourcebooks. I'm hoping to add a few ideas to the upcoming Warpath: Urban Jungle RPG but I'm going to have to wait a little longer there too.
What we have going for us are great fans and a businessman who juggles a dozen different things daily to keep the seen and unseen parts of Palladium going. It's not easy but nothing worthwhile ever is. We are hopeful for the rest of the year. Hopeful that sales even out. Hopeful that people we know experience a bit more stability in their lives. And knowing that we've still got a ton of ideas we really want to get out there.
Regards,
Alex Marciniszyn
