Mini-Update July 21 2009
The Property of the Coalition States™ coffee mug (the T-shirt is back in stock too) and the Rifts® Logo baseball cap should be arriving any day now. Both are fun, functional and cool products. The Dead Reign™ coffee mug – red on black – will be available in a couple weeks, early August. The Palladium Fantasy RPG® coffee mug, coming in September, will also be red on black like the original cover.
We had to reprint the Rifts® Dice bag (those bags are soooo nice, and incredibly sturdy) and it is back in stock as of last Friday.
Fleets of the Three Galaxies™ ships next Monday
- The printer confirmed our Monday ship date.
- Wayne Smith posted a “sneak peak” excerpt from Fleets of the Three Galaxies™to give you guys and gals an idea of what you can expect from this fun and diverse sourcebook. It's the section on the Dominators.
It was funny when we were updating the description of this book for the last presss release. After we counted the spells, we were stunned to realize there were 72 new Space Magic invocations. Even though I created and wrote half of the spells (Carl Gleba wrote the rest), I had not realized there were a whopping 72 of them. Wayne, didn’t believe it and counted them himself to double check. Sheesh, no wonder it took an extra couple days to finish the book. That's a lot of magic spells. It’s like I’ve said for years, I’m the victim of an overactive imagination.
Robotech® Expeditionary Force Marines™ is almost finished
I understand that Jason Marker expects to be finished writing this new Robotech® sourcebook by the end of the week. We'll do a quick edit and it’s off for approval to Harmony Gold. This is another sourcebook jam-packed with characters, mecha, weapons, gear, and ideas to send your characters on amazing new adventures.
Warpath™ is next for Jason. Meanwhile, I’ll be diving into Mysteries of Magic™ and Dimensional Outbreak™ by week’s end. The cover art and logo for Mysteries are sweet. I am so excited to be working on Palladium Fantasy again. It’s my favorite game line.
We're waiting for Chuck Walton’s alledgedly epic Splicers® sourcebook project (going on a year past its target deadline at this point, which is why you haven't heard me talk about it much) and a few other freelancer titles that are supposed to be submitted soon (Rifts® Iron Heart is one, Chaos Earth™: First Responders™ is another) and others. The manuscripts for Rifts® Triax 2, Rifts® Underseas 2: Lemuria, and Thundercloud Galaxy™ are getting lined up for early 2010 releases. Yeah, it's only July and we are already thinking about next year.
We've got Armaggedon Unlimited™ coming up for Heroes Unlimited™ later this year, but I'm hoping to see more material for that game line as well.
Oh, and don’t forget, V.I.P. Night 2010 Open House tickets go on sale July 31.
Business matters . . .
Got in at 7:00 AM today and I’ve been trying to get caught up on a vast range of business matters and feel like I'm finally starting to make some headway. Filled out some insurance documents due next week, sent some new items to OneBookShelf to be made available as PDFs, answered some emails, paid some bills, did some contracts, addressed some business issues, and took care of a bunch of other stuff. So I'm feeling pretty good right about now.
Sales remain soft this week, but pre-orders are pouring in and we are generally upbeat and positive.
Personal matters . . .
I've got some cool things happening on a personal level too. I'm enjoying helping my dear friend, Kathy Simmons, launch her Queen of Ghouls business. I just wish I was available to do more, but I'm always so darn busy!!
I'll be taking six days off starting August 3rd to visit my daughter, Monica Donald, and attend her wedding. The shindig takes place in Seattle, Washington, so this will be a sort of mini-vacation for me. Then again, I'm sure it will be a whirlwind of helping set things ups, driving around, meeting people, and visiting. I can hardly wait -- it has been waaaaay too long since I've seen Monica in person.
Guest speaker, Kevin Siembieda -- a major videogame company is talking about flying me out to discuss game design, writing and world building. I am pumped up for it. Don't know if I can talk about it yet so no names, and we are still in the talking stage, but it is very flattering and exciting that they would like me to do this.
That's it for now. Game on!
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
