I’m not missing going to conventions
Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE conventions. They are just a lot of work for us. I rarely attend as a spectator/attendee, I’m usually a guest or an exhibitor, or both, and either one is “work.” Work and travel I don’t miss.
This week has been so hectic since getting back from Seattle (my daughter’s wedding) that I’m thrilled we didn’t go to Gen Con this year.
Still, my thoughts have traveled to Gen Con many times. It is going on even as you read this (August 13-16) and I can’t help wondering who is there, how sales are, what's new for RPGs, who I’m missing that I haven’t seen in a year or so, how the event is doing, etc. The nicest part of any convention is seeing old friends, meeting new people, chatting with fans and talking about games, gaming and the industry. I do miss that quite a bit. The rest of it, I do not miss one bit.
I hope everyone who is at Gen Con is having a great time, having financial success or finding the show to be everything that the person attending wanted it to be. I have nothing but fond memories of Gen Con (especially 1982-1995) and hope it is around for years to come.
Keep those imaginations burning bright and game on!
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
