How much damage per round would a character take from being covered in oil and lit on fire? (We'll go with lamp/lantern oil here.)

I'd give it 3D6 per melee round for the oil, plus an additional 3D6 per round from clothing and hair burning. Critical if the head is involved. Save every melee after the first or pass out unconscious from inhalation of scalding air/gasses/smoke, at which point take an additional 3D6 straight to hit points for internal damage.

This is based on a mix of DR rules for burning zombies (the same flesh as live humans), and knowledge of what happens in real life when people are burned at the stake.

Living humans don't burn that well or that long, but the heated gases and smoke will kill them very fast.

Yeah, 2d6 or so.
