Claw damage and size

Unread post by Library Ogre »

Ok, so I've been thinking about this. Claw and bite damage should not be flat for a species, but instead based on size level. If you have a SL 6 Alligator, he should not have the same bite damage as a SL 20 crocomonster.... but, RAW, he would.

Are you factoring in the PS modifiers for Size Level?

Still, the animal kingdom is full of small animals that can kick the spit out of big crocomonsters.

Such as...

Tim: It *is* the rabbit!
King Arthur: You silly sod!
Tim: What?
King Arthur: You got us all worked up!
Tim: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit.
King Arthur: Ohh.
Tim: That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
Sir Robin: You git! I soiled my armor I was so scared!
Tim: Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
Sir Galahad: Get stuffed!
Tim: He'll do you up a treat, mate.
Sir Galahad: Oh, yeah?
Sir Robin: You manky Scots git!
Tim: I'm warning you!
Sir Robin: What's he do? Nibble your bum?
Tim: He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about. Look at the bones!
King Arthur: Go on, Bors. Chop his head off!
Sir Bors: Right! Silly little bleeder. One rabbit stew comin' right up!

that was my thought as well. big creatures tend to have high PS, and thus do lots of damage. small creatures tend to have lower PS, and thus do less damage. honestly, all the claws do is allow the attack to break the skin..even in real life, it's the strength behind the attack that determains the damage.

While it doesn't take into account PS, there's still a significant gap where PSs can be equivalent, but a 3' animal has the same damage as a 6' one.

What I would see would be a variation in damage based on size, less so than species.
