I Jinxed myself!

The weekend was good: I got a lot of work done, Dark Places™ was almost done, and weekend sales were very good.

I came in this morning feeling positive and motivated. Wayne was busy laying out more pages of Dark Places and Julius was proofreading it.

Then I jinxed myself. A couple of emails asked how we were doing or hoped we were doing better. I said “The past two weeks were better, relatively quiet, I felt good and there were no new disasters.”

I should have kept my mouth shut.

I’m down to the last 12 pages of the Dark Places™ and it is looking good, except I couldn’t write. I struggled all day long, was writing slow, and didn't like most of what was being written. My day was interrupted several times, my computer crashed and I lost some work that I had to recreate, and then the news came that my friend Phil, a seemingly healthy and active 65 year old, had a heart attack. My heart sank. Phil has helped out at Palladium behind the scenes and done me many favors that has saved Palladium money.

It’s 7:15 PM and I'm done for the day. I put in 11 hours, but didn’t get all I wanted to get done finished. I'm going to buy some groceries, go home, eat and veg out. I think part of my writing stall is I am so tired. Feeling a little burned out today.

At least Dead Reign™: Dark Places™ should go to the printer tomorrow and is great. I asked Julius what he thought of the two-thirds of the book he had proofread, and he said, “scary.” I loved hearing that. That’s part of what I’m trying to accomplish with the Dead Reign™ series (and BTS™ too) – to make it scary. I mean, when was the last time you read a role-playing game or sourcebook that scared you? Cool.
