blacker then black

Unread post by drewkitty ~..~ »

there is an anime show, which is now in it's 2nd season called 'Darker Then Black', where something hit or was done to the whole earth that caused the appearance of super powers in people who end up being called "contractors".
These contractors have had their emotions replaced with a a duo of super powers, one surface apparent and another with deeper meaning. However, each time they use there powers, the have to do a task to 'pay" for the use of the powers. These can come in any form of task, from kissing someone, to making origami cranes, to having a brew, to smoken a cig., etc....

Two areas on earth appeared that contain twisted natural laws, and are thought to be the source of the contractor's powers.

Yeah, I know the show and have seen it. It's good but I didn't know about them having a second power. But then again, I only saw up to the end where Lee took out the gate with his sisters powers so, I don't know much past that point... I miss the cat. :(

Anywho, I test ran it as a game (since we can't use palladium books system as it is illegal, I ended up having to use another rpg system again to do the testing). It played half way decent. Not knowing the deeper secrets of DARKER than BLACK you're limited to doing little.

Problem is I used Placebos "Running Up that Hill" to get Catherine Wheels "Black Metallic" to get Monorals "KIRI" to get Dan Balans "Crazy Loop" out of my head in the first place.

no reason you can't use the HU system to run that anime if you wanted, or any other intellectuall property like DC or Marvel. the catch is, you aren't allowed to post conversions of the characters on the internet, especially these palladium owned message boards.

but, if you prefer the HU system, you could have used that anime as inspiration.

What you do in your own privet games is not illegal, its when you get into the public domain that you can't do stuff.
If you note I didn't say anything about what powers were used, but I did describe the basic set up. But if I wanted to run a game, I could. It's just have to not spread the setting particulars out side the group.

You can't "post" any of the conversions, nor sell your conversions.

But after thinking about it some more, it's more of the N&S setting with a few of the contractors mixed in.
