A few thoughts about the Palladium Message Boards

I got an email today that I’d like to share, simply because it sums up the the Palladium Message Board and the Moderators perfectly. I agree with his view completely.

He writes:

“There has been some talk on the boards lately about rules, mods and other complaints. It made me realize I'd been taking the message boards for granted. I'm sure it is not cheap to keep it for us. Also sometimes it gives you grief.

“It may not always be perfect, but I find it to be a very fun place. It gives me a much wider variety of people to discus the games with. I have also made some good friends there. It is very nice to see what others are doing in their games and get ideas to improve your own game.

“I used to be a mod on the boards so I know that it can be a hard job and they are just volunteers. I think the current team does the best they can. Sure mistakes do happen, but they are not from malice. NMI is a good admin and tries to fix any problem as quickly as possible.

“Basically, I just wanted to say thanks for giving us such a fun place as the message boards to use and for putting up with the grief it sometimes generates.

“Merry Christmas to you and everyone else at the office.

“ P.S. Loving Mysteries of Magic One. I can't wait for number 2.”

This person nailed it.

No, the website and boards are not perfect, nor are the people who run them, and that includes me and the rest of the Palladium crew. But the moderators are good people who do their best on a strictly volunteer basis. They help create a sense of community and fun. There is no malice and the Palladium message boards and website provides a way for fellow gamers to share their ideas, adventures and viewpoints.

Fun, imagination and camaraderie is what Palladium Books is all about. Wayne, Thom, Alex and I all want the Palladium website and message boards to be a place where the vast majority (can't please everyone) of Palladium fans feel welcome, and where fun runs rampant. Yes, I know there is more we can do, but for now, we do what we can with the budget we have and the wonderful volunteers who help us make it all possible. My thanks to each and every Moderator, past and present.

Meanwhile, let’s all try to be tolerant and considerate of others, and focus on fun, gaming, creativity and good cheer.
