Looking at the rule book, I can answer your question for two of the flight types easily: under soaring flight and silent flight, it says that they are the same as basic flight, plus the following bonuses. With Raptor and acrobatic flight, these two types don't offer a different flying style, in my opinion, more of an improvement on the basic flight. So, they just 'trump' basic flight, giving you essentially the same power but with better stats. Don't apply any bonuses etc. from basic flight.

It is possible to buy both raptor flight and soaring flight (pg. 71); in this case I would say that you always use the stats from raptor flight, but with the additional option of the long distance soaring when necessary. If a character is soaring and the need to quickly change, dodge, move, swoop etc. suddenly arrives, I would say that the character can switch straight into 'raptor flight' in an instant. Ignore the mention of basic flight in this case.

I would say no, you don't get glide just because you have flight. It is a different method of remaining airborne and not automatic. There are birds that can fly, but never use gliding techniques. Besides, there's nothing in the game rules that would benefit you for taking glide if you already had flight (for instance, like if being able to glide used less energy than flapping - for that you need to get 'soaring flight'), so there's no point buying both anyway.

Hope that helps.

Additional: I just saw under the rules for rolling up an owl that it says 'silent flight (includes silent glide)'. I would say that if they feel the need to specify that silent flight for the owl also includes glide, that flight does not include glide in other cases.

You're welcome.

Now, if someone could just answer my post about biped for aquatic animals, we'd both be happy! ;)

Sorry, Macksting. To confirm: yes, there doesn't seem to be any reason in simple game mechanics terms to have both flight and glide as powers. It wouldn't matter either way really.

And I do still think that if they specified that glide is included in silent flight under one animal, but not the others, that it would only apply to that one in my opinion.
