Movies, novels, videogames, toys . . .

Movies, novels, videogames, toys . . .

. . . that’s what I want to see. For Rifts®. For Nightbane®. For Palladium Fantasy® and any (ALL!) of our game lines.

We’ve had soooo many nibbles and near misses that it gets very frustrating. For a brief moment, we recently thought we had something cooking for Rifts®, but it was not what we had hoped.

Just yesterday, I was contacted by a writer inquiring about the possibilities of a Rifts® novel published by a third party publisher (not Palladium), but it is way too soon to tell how real this might be.

There continues to be “interest” in Nightbane®, but who knows where that might go?

The Rifts® movie is still hanging out there and we pray soemthing comes of it.

Many, many other inquiries about Rifts® and other IPs have gone nowhere.

I would love to see Mark Freedman at Surge Licensing cook up some licenses for Palladium, but it’s not as easy as it may sound. A lot of people who contact us are well intentioned fans with big dreams and ideas, but without a third party publisher or the financial capabilities of bringing those dreams to reality. Others seem to have little idea of what’s involved and blow any possibility with unprofessional antics, a bad attitude or questionable quality.

It’s crazy sometimes.

We need real companies with real business experience, and even then, things may not turn out. Such is the world of entertainment. We have a couple of things brewing and fingers are crossed.

In other news

As noted in a previous Murmur, we had fantastic sales over the weekend, but the expected drop-off has occurred. Tuesday sales were lousy. This morning’s sales (Wednesday) weren’t bad – down from the Holiday Season, of course, but near the range we hope to see and maintain.

I encourage fans to pick up Rifter subscriptions, place their Open House orders (the POH will be epic!), and continue to order product they’ve been meaning to acquire whenever they can.

Carmen Bellaire came over on Monday to show us what he has planned for the Palladium Open House. Wow. It's a Robotech® game using various action figures/toys in an amazing, hand-built city. We'll post some photos, but what you'll see is half of what the finished diorama will be. Wow. Everyone is going all out for the 2010 Palladium Open House.

Meanwhile, I’ve been busy sending out contracts and arranging work on other books in the pipeline. Rifts® Dimensional Outbreak is coming along at a decent pace, and we are excited about all the books we have in production.

E.M. Gist will be doing the new covers to Rifts® Vampire Kingdoms™ and the Rifts® Vampire Sourcebook. Jason Richards is wrapping up his Chaos Earth First Responders manuscript, and a lot of other things are cooking.

I'm nervous about the economy and the future, but trying to stay focused and knock out great role-playing game products one after the other.

I better go. I need to dive back into Rifts® Dimensional Outbreak™ right now.

Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
