I would make it a Greatest rune item - just my two cents

I would change the 1/2 damage from blows directed at the gauntlets to a save vs pain. (I believe it's....:d20 vs 17 +PE or +ME bonuses. Failing means they loose init. & loose one APM, at the minimum level.)
