Dead Reign Wikipedia
So...I don't have any experience with creating or editing a wikipedia page; however, I find that DR's page is not acceptable. Perhaps there is a noble soul on here who would like to bring it up to snuff?
Here is the direct link to it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Reign

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
Also, I just looked at the links towards the bottom of each wikipedia page about Palladium and DR is not even listed as a published book by them.

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
I've expanded the page greatly but I'm still tracking down links to several relavant webpages. Also I only have the Rifter articles(Ask Josh Hilden why), so I know very little about the "official" setting.

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
HOLY ####, I know that Wiki is hard up for writters but, I've never seen That kind of biase get through before- I about laughed my ### of reading that Wik-page.
Dispite my wellknown and endless arguments in the past with Kevi-poo, I don't recall ever siding with the "Ubber-anti-Palladium" and Anti-Kevin S. hate mongers From RPG.net... All though they PMed me once with a friendly invite after I and KS had a forum wide blow out
for two weeks where I laid into him and got booted.
But RPG.net complains Way to much, even fer me and I have Never hated KS one bit. I fact, I happen to LIKE the large body of his RPG work which dispite some short comings (what rpg Doesn't have those) is still awefully good work. Plus Palladium Books is like one of the Last of the original big RPG's left on the market and through Kevin (like him or not), the RPG world has been kept going strong. And at least KS cares to speak to the public, unlike 90% of those wrtters in other rpg companies. That counts fer allot.
The Vast majority of players I have had and have known don't personally like KS and complain about Palladium Books all of the time but, GUESS WHAT GAME SYSTEM THEY in secret ALWAYS WANT ME TO GM???
You guessed it, PB.
You don't bash something like PB as much as people do, if you didn't Actually secretly Love it.
That Wiki page is (according to my Lawyer friend Mark) completely slander-filled and Kevin can bring a (somekinda legal wording Mark used) suite against the writters of said page. And Mark HATES Kevin, and even he said that this page went too far.
Still, I'm not involved... So I'm Laughing My butt off and Think this is a riot
Still, I don't like how the page has next to NO useful info on the game itself. It was all Kevin bashing and no history on the DR world at all. The page needs to be cleaned up allot so as to provide at least a Little bit of useful info.

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
I do have to say about Dead Reign is that it's beginning was controversial and that there are people who while they do love palladium books and usually think of Kevin as a pretty cool dude. Have some serious issues with the way that this game was first put out. I'll readily admit that I am biased when it comes to what happened and so far I have only bought the Rifter Dead Reign articles. Still it has grown into a popular game and everyone does things that tick people off from time to time. I would love to hear a good explanation on the game mechanics and how it differs from the standard megaversal system and about the "Official setting".

KEEE YIKES that was allot to read.
Just finished all of the DR Rifter articals and DR books (Save fer the newest one that is STILL in the mail... I'm told it be here in two weeks).
That's allotta re-reads on my part.
Both systems are VASTLY differant and I gotta say that I like them Both being so differant.
Kevins DR was a welcome change from EVERYTHING else he's done to date in the last 20 years (sorry Kevin but it's true... In a refreshing good way). It's ALL about JUST humans vs. Zombies, No super Heroes or Mages or Psychics or Mutants or Nightspawn or Dragons or Robots or Borgs or Spirita Anima powered Macross 7 Mech piloted by ego crazed rockers (LISTEN TO MY MUSIC!!!)...
Just ordinary humans!!!
This is, of course, the EXACT OPPOSET OF HOW I RP!!!
Normally I play someone with at least SOMETHING super about themselves... so This version of Dead Reign was a scary freak thing fer me to read... No spells to throw at the zombies, no TK Accelerated attacks, no Loud rock musics empowered reflex cannon laser beams, No nothin... Just me and a crow-bar!!!
The two Joshes on the other hand created a truly more me kinda game (lotsa explosions and pretty lights) and I GET to play my Amazing Super Mana Powered RoBo (Piloted by my Gary Colman 'Mulka')... Just the way i'm used ta...
BOTH GAMES Must exist...
DR "The Brulyx Chronicals" and DR "The Humans are just that, Gasp, human-Chronicals"...
Two TOTALLY differant Dimesions with which to play/GM in...
I would Just like it if Kevin would RE-Print the two Joshes Version of Dead Regin into a Single book so that I can access the info easier instead of it being strune-out over the Rifters!!!
Plus I'd like to see the "Josh & Josh Manuscript" get more flushed out and gets me More art, this way I can say that I've gots me Both DR's game systems.
NOW LISTEN TO MY MUSIC!!!!
☺

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
FYI-The new rewrite on the Wiki-page is Much better a read and much more cleaned up. It give much more precise info.
I Could use some mention of the worlds general stats on the Zombies, like how THESE Zombies are differant from your typical "it was a super improbable Virus that created them" zombies of today), a Very brief mention of the worlds surviving population, mention of the key differances between "DRKV" (Dead Reign Kevin Variant, aka Standard DR) and "DR The Brulyx Chronicals".
The two worlds are very Very Differant (History of events, cause of the plauge, etc.)

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
I also see that it's my review of the original Dead Reign that was attempted to be cited on the Wiki. In fairness, if I could help so that it's not so one-sided, I'd like to. Everyone knows where I stand in my views, but I also have used the DRRPG as well, though my group was less receptive of it.

Aww. I missed the wikiocolypse.
Perhaps someone can explain... no, there is no time. Perhaps someone could sum up?

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
The rewrite of the wiki looks like a quick hack job with non-existent citations that was done in 10 minutes to cover up their slander.

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
Don't look at me, as wordy as I am, I'd have filled more into it by now if I had written it. But hopefully when I find time, I can help add to it in a fair way. Unless of course there are any other takers?

Dude you must think yourself the detective wiser than most with that peice of misdirected accusationary brilliance, but DtMK never wrote the original slanderious peice of tripe on wiki, he just tried to take the garbage that was written by someone else and make something better of it.
In otherwords, you own DtMK an appology!!!

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
Uh... if there's going to be a wiki entry for Dead Reign, shouldn't it actually talk about or describe the RPG?

Thanks man, I appreciate having my back. But I wasn't offended. If there was an insult, it didn't have much punch to it to bother. Seriously, I'd be happy to try to help the wiki once I find time and I'm not on my muse for writing about my creation.

Sorry DtMK. I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been to what was written and thought the original writer of the wiki entry had edited it, not you.
I unintentionally ate my foot, it didn't taste good.
Again, sorry.

Re: Dead Reign Wikipedia
Well the person who has been trying to seriously expand the Wiki page has put the following on the talk page.
If he's been just going by what's online about the game It's understandable where he got his point of view.
Help needed
Personally I have been a fan of Palladium books for over a decade. That being said back when Dead Reign first came out there was alot of controversy to the point of threads getting locked and deleated on Palladium's forums. Said Controversy had kept me away from playing the setting. Recently a friend introduced elements of Dead Reign into a Rifts game. Trying to find out more about the setting I tried here. All I found was a line about how it was Palladium's game about a Zombie apocalypse and nothing else. As the page was in danger of being deleted I decided to expand on the games history and both the origional and the official settings. Using several search engines I have not been able to find much in the way of Reliable unbiased Data about the controversy at the games first publishing. What I can find online has been mostly bashing of Siembiedia by people with a seriously biased view of the man. I have been looking for my copies of The Rifter # 40 & 45 to see if they have anything that can untangle the mess that is the games origions. Unfortunatly I can't find my copies. As far as the official game goes it is going to be a couple of months before i can get the game and it's sourcebooks and organize and write a section on the game
If he's been just going by what's online about the game It's understandable where he got his point of view.
