MoM: Reverse

I don't have it in front of me, but I've been meaning to post about this. There is a spell in MOM called Reverse or Reversal that causes all of the target's combat bonuses to become penalties. It is a spell castable at range, lasts for a while (melee per level at least) and gives the target a -1 penalty on their save vs magic.

Luck Curse is a pretty broken spell, but this may take the cake. The PPE cost is less than Luck Curse and the folks who get extra bonuses vs curses arguably don't get them against this spell. I'm pretty sure it is low level (6?) so it can be cast quickly and repeatedly.

Talk about your way to kill any sort of high end opponent. The more awesome you are, the more you are going to suck. I don't even want to think about this spell in Rifts or the Three Galaxies. Put it on a TW Canon for ship combat.

Thoughts?

Broken. Still doesn't help much against a psychic/practitioner of magic, though.

Sure it is. Initiative penalty.

Then any spell that requires a strike roll and then hoping that their MDC protective abilities are enough to soak up the damage because they won't be able to dodge or parry.

It's another spell heaped onto the rest of "Things that didn't get a mechanical eye or play testing for balance", there's only like 30 of them in the game, one more won't dis-balance the game more then it is in that regard.

But yeah, it's crazy good, I disallowed it before sitting down for the first session after the book was released. Often to my players relief, knowing I wouldn't utterly screw every non-affliction setup (i.e debuffing casters and psionics / summoners).

I wonder if you can spell chain this to Disharmonize for a TW grenade.
