Not sure if you'll use this, but I'm inspired by some real-world events.

A group of miners is working away when an earthquake strikes, trapping them in the mine. They can eventually get out through some odd tunnels and natural crevasses, but when they get out they are greeted by a welcome committee of a few dead cannibals. This also lends theories to "Where did the zombies come from" and "How were the zombies created". Maybe toxic gasses released during the earthquake that the PCs didn't encounter because they were in the mine?

Ahh. Well, lately my dudes are slowly discovering that there is a secret research organisation that accidently the wave and blamed it on the Benfold Group.

Thanks. I do what I can. With all of the natural disasters lately, plus the trapped workers in China, it just seemed like a decent enough thing to run with for a potential DR HLS.
