Need a little help with my adventure.

Ok so I am running a new west campaign with my buds the group consists of all level four
a ley line walker
a mercinary free quebec soldier
a mind melter
a rouge cyber knight
a true atlantean battle mage
a jucier
a body fixer

So they are now back in time or in a alternate universe where the time of the rifts is about to happen I plan on getting thenm back by using the energy released from the bomb to propel them back to there time. This is where i have to ask a plausibility queastion.

For them it is going to be 2 weeks since they left but it will be five years. Before they lef tthye where paid to kill a general of the cs that had made his own province and was allowed to run it by the emperor this general was about to release and army made from his own soldiers and those from comunitys that his province has absorbed and try and take everything he has had support from northern gun and lone star. They fortunatley killed him but my idea was to have someone else replace him and take his name as sort of a title before he died he had a huge personality cult and he died discreatly and away from the public eye. I was wondering what you guys think the baronies would do in reaction as his kingdom is onthe edge of east colorado. Now when they come bac k he will just be done finishing off a small floating settlement that has held him back for a while. Now to put this into prespective he is given control by the cs and is NOT monitored so he has begun to use db mercinarys sparingly and psychics along with a large for of scelbots. SO to reitterate my queastion how do you think the forces in the area woudl react he is just now entering berronie territory.
