There are rules in Rifter 46 for this
It's incredibly simple, but I'm not sure if I can summarize it here

Well, I know that I started to post/create Chimera's (and other mutants) before Rifter #46 came out. But yeah, if your just starting you SHOULD get Rifter #46 before you start, that way you can ease yourself into it.

rifter #18 has a more of a general "how do you make a mutant animal template?". making a chimera is basically figure out which animal the chimera takes after most in terms of things like size, figure out the Bio-E as per the guideline in rifter 18, and then picks powers and features you desire as options using the guidelines from rifter 18.
thats how i made the jackalope chimera anyway. based it on the rabbit, and adjusted the Bio-E to match the extra features i cribbed from the deer and parrot.

Would it be possible for somebody to please confirm in a bit more detail what is covered in rifter 46 regarding animal template and chimera creation? Rules for creating animal templates were already in rifter 18 (and the original TMNT) - are the rules in rifter 46 any different?
How specific are the guidelines for chimera creation mentioned in the last post? I couldn't see any obvious patterns for chimera or purebred templates, so I have pretty much just made them up as I go along when creating my own new ones. Most of the purebreds in the book appear to have many more abilities and/or size levels than would strictly be possible by the rules. Are there specific rules in rifter 46 regarding Bio-E levels for purebreds and chimeras?
I notice it doesn't mention anything about After the Bomb in the blurb for rifter 46 on the website - is it a very small part of it? I'm not particularly interested in most of the other contents of that rifter, and I get shafted for postage coz I'm from Europe, so I want to make sure it's worth it before I buy.
Thanks for your help.

They are both rather vague, and don't give you any tables to roll or hard set rules to follow (if I recall #18).

The guidelines are pretty loose. Basically, you choose two or three animals to combine, figure out which is the strongest donor and that determines your starting size, BIO-E, and humanoid traits. You then build it from all the parts and powers available to the combined animals.

I'd imagine that the interest in AtB is pretty small compared to the rest of Palladium's products.

The first few mutants, your hand with the DNA eyedropper is shaking, but after a while, creating abominations of nature comes naturally.
